Blue Ridge Log Cabins I'm really happy with my log cabin purchase

I'm really happy with my log cabin purchase. The staff is friendly and the cabin I designed is now my forever home. I'm thinking about getting another vacation home with Blue Ridge Log Cabins and I have friends who want to buy a home from them too!

Blue Ridge Log Cabins I was hopin' for a quicker way to get a place to live, ya know?

I was hopin' for a quicker way to get a place to live, ya know? The cabins on their website said they come 90% done. But guess what? When ours arrived, there were no windows, appliances, completed walls, or finished floors. It was all wet and moldy in some spots. Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC (BRLC) blames CovID 19, but they didn't bother tellin' us it wouldn't be complete before deliverin' it. Now we've been waitin' for an extra month for the missin' parts to show up. Since we weren't warned about the cabin not bein' finished, we had to find temporary housin' for our family, which cost us a lot, just so our kid could have a stable school. I'm really let down by their lack of communication and not deliverin' what they promised on their website and in person. Maybe CovID 19 messed up their supply chain, but it didn't stop 'em from lettin' us know they couldn't give us what they said they would.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins If you're thinking about getting a Blue Ridge Log Home, I gotta tell ya, it's not a good idea

If you're thinking about getting a Blue Ridge Log Home, I gotta tell ya, it's not a good idea. This company is a total mess. The house they gave us is nothing like what they showed us in their fancy sales area. They dropped off a half-finished house on September 14, and it's still not livable as of February 17, 2022. The workmanship is terrible, and all they give us are half-hearted apologies. They never take responsibility for the awful job they did. Right now, on February 17, 2022, we don't even have a front door (the other doors don't open or close right either, one needs a flat bar and hammer to work). We got some windows, but not the ones we actually ordered. The roof has all these wrinkly shingles, and the ridge cap is all uneven. The soffit and fascia are also uneven, and the drip edge is only partially installed. The floors are all wonky and unfinished (the staff tried to fix them with roofing shingles, can you believe it?), and the countertops are a mess. The staff even messed up the decking materials, leaving them all scratched and damaged. The linen closet and master bath are both unfinished, and we still need countertops, sinks, and appliances. It's been 5 months since they installed this house, and we still can't live in it. Don't let their fancy showroom fool you. Go somewhere else, folks.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins I ain't never gonna do business with Blue Ridge Log Cabins again, and I wouldn't recommend 'em to nobody

I ain't never gonna do business with Blue Ridge Log Cabins again, and I wouldn't recommend 'em to nobody. They don't back up their work or their promises. I tried to hold back 10% of our money when they delivered the cabin, just to have some control, but Donn D told me they'd take care of us for sure. Don't give 'em the full payment when they deliver the cabin. This company's lack of follow-through and communication is just plain shocking. Our cabins sat out in the open, no front doors, for over 7 months. You can see light shining through the ceiling into the next room all over the house. We hired BRLC to build our front deck, big mistake. They never sent the plans to our personal GC for the footers or the deck, so that was a total mess. The guy they sent, Brian H, to build the deck must've been building his first deck on our property. He didn't use galvanized nails, like other BRLC employees confirmed. Our deck is stained with black rings everywhere 'cause of them non-galvanized nails. And the trim work he tried to do looks absolutely ridiculous. On top of that, we had to pay to get the deck redone multiple times 'cause BRLC wouldn't stand behind their work, and it wouldn't pass inspection. Don't hire BRLC for any more outside work. Brian H was even puttin' down roofing shingles on our house without puttin' down the roofing paper first. BRLC's bosses didn't care when one of their own employees told 'em about the negligence. And now, we're still waitin' for someone to come and finish up the outside to-do list. We got our CO in Dec 2021. They don't answer emails or calls once they get their money. I even reached out to the big boss, Chip Smith. No effort to make things right. Thumbs down. They're real unprofessional. WE GOT PICTURES.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins Blue Ridge Log Cabins is a good company to build your dream cabin

Blue Ridge Log Cabins is a good company to build your dream cabin. Chip S has a great team at BRLC. Donald O - Sales, Doug T - Operations, Eddie R-Purchasing, Don D - Financials, John and Emmanuel - Trim Carpenters; all of them were good at answering questions and solving problems during construction. We have been living in our BRLC cabin for over a year now and we think the whole team, not just the ones mentioned, are kind-hearted. It's rare to find that nowadays. Before choosing BRLC, we had built four stick-built homes, but we like that our BRLC cabin was built indoors, away from the weather. There's no construction trash in the walls, no warped particle board, no cracked windows, and no moldy insulation. Our home is clean and well-built. Modular homes are becoming more popular because of the advantages of indoor construction. We love the high ceilings, sturdy beams, and the natural imperfections of the real wood walls. It's a daily pleasure to look at. It would be a hassle to find a contractor and architect to recreate this vibe in a stick-built home, especially in a post-Covid world, and the price would be very expensive. It's true that even Saudi Princes and Bill G have chosen BRLC, so we feel special owning a bit of heaven here on earth. Partnering with BRLC was one of the best decisions we ever made.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins I ordered a cabin from Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC in March

I ordered a cabin from Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC in March . It's a modular cabin that was supposed to be prebuilt and delivered onto my foundation, which my contractor finished. However, when it was delivered on August 5, I was shocked to find that it had no windows, doors, interior doors, cabinets in the three bathrooms or kitchen, and no countertops in the bathrooms or kitchen. There were no sinks or anything! It was basically just a shell with plywood covering the doors and windows.

To make matters worse, they demanded 70% payment even though I had already paid 20% before the delivery. So now I'm stuck with a half-finished house. On the day of delivery, they promised to call me and let me know when I would receive my cabinets and doors. But when I called them back an hour later, they said it would take another three weeks. It's been seven weeks now, and I still haven't received any doors or windows.

I've been sending them weekly emails, begging for updates, but they have completely ignored me. The only response I got was from the sales representative, who said he would look into it, but I still haven't received any timeline or information. It's incredibly frustrating.

Finally, the trim crew started working on the week of September 14, but there are still no cabinets, countertops, windows, doors (both exterior and interior), appliances, and so on.

In my opinion, this company should not be allowed to deliver modular cabins in such terrible conditions and then demand payment. They should also not ignore their customers' emails and calls. It's just not right.

LK,

How long ago did you purchase from BRLC? We’re interested in the Jocassee V model but after reading reviews I’m starting to wonder if we should look elsewhere. I’d love to hear more from you.

Sincerely,

Jamie Wilson

Blue Ridge Log Cabins In November , we made a deal with Blue Ridge Cabins of South Carolina to bring a log home to our farm in Ontario, Canada by mid-August 2022

In November , we made a deal with Blue Ridge Cabins of South Carolina to bring a log home to our farm in Ontario, Canada by mid-August 2022. We paid all the fees and did everything we were supposed to on our end, but all we get from Blue Ridge is excuses and delays. Right now, I'm living in a little used camper, thinking it would only be for a couple of months until my home arrived. I emailed the company's president, Chip Smith, but he's chosen to ignore me. I called the sales representative, Freddie, and got no response. Our Canadian sales representative is just as frustrated and disappointed because the company won't address why we keep getting delayed. I think it's because we're in a small Canadian market, while homes are being sent out in the states without any issues. Meanwhile, our homes are always being delayed. I have a foundation ready and waiting, and contractors are being put off because Blue Ridge can't stick to the dates we agreed on. They haven't offered any compensation, apology, or shown any remorse for their terrible customer service. I've put everything into this home, and I don't have any other options.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins 2/10/2022: We met up to check out the cabin models offered by Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC on 2/26/2022

2/10/2022: We met up to check out the cabin models offered by Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC on 2/26/2022. We had another meeting where we decided on a cabin plan and paid a $5,000 security deposit, which was necessary for the general contractor (GC) permit to begin the foundation work.

By the end of March 2022, we hadn't received any correspondence regarding the progress of our plans. We tried reaching out through emails, phone calls, and texts to both the company and our GC, but received no response. Finally, I decided to call and ask to speak with someone in charge. After some time, the person we had been working with finally got back to us. She requested that we come in for a meeting to review our previous customizations and assured us that an engineer would be present. We went to the meeting and confirmed our interior package, although some of our original choices were no longer available due to supply issues. We were ready to break ground in early April, as communicated to the agent, and we emphasized the urgency of receiving the plans and permit package.

By the end of April 2022, we still hadn't received any plans or updates. Frustrated, I called the company and demanded to know the status of our plans. I made it clear that our GC was ready to proceed but couldn't start without the necessary plans for permitting. Our GC also reached out to them. We were informed that there would be a meeting in a couple of days and that the plans should be delivered within two weeks.

In May 2022, we were still left in the dark with no plans or communication from the company. Our GC called them again and spoke to the agent's boss, but it had no effect. We were growing increasingly frustrated and decided to call and inform them that we were no longer interested in their services. We requested a refund of our $5,000 deposit since we hadn't received any services.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins I signed a contract and put down a deposit for a log cabin from Blue Ridge Log Cabins

I signed a contract and put down a deposit for a log cabin from Blue Ridge Log Cabins. I've been in touch with the employee who sold me the cabin for almost a year. Every time I spoke with her, she assured me that the construction was progressing and that she was in contact with the general contractor builder here in Franklin, NC. Around two months ago, I started calling to inquire about the delivery date and when it would be sent for completion on the foundation my general contractor was building. However, I kept getting her voicemail and she never returned my call. Frustrated, I decided to speak with her supervisor. To my surprise, he informed me that she no longer worked there. I asked him about the status of my cabin, and he revealed that it had never even been started. I had already purchased land and hired a general contractor, and I had made a down payment to her. I asked the supervisor what my options were at this point. He explained that I would have to wait in line for my cabin to be built, and estimated that it would take a year. Meanwhile, I had sold my house and was planning to move into the cabin within a couple of weeks as I was initially told. Unfortunately, nothing has been done, and now I find myself homeless and out of a significant amount of money. They are even refusing to refund my deposit. What kind of business are they running? Should I consider hiring a lawyer and taking legal action? I'm at a loss for what to do now.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins We signed a contract with Blue Ridge Log Cabins in 2019

We signed a contract with Blue Ridge Log Cabins in 2019. They didn't follow through on several things in the contract. One example is that they didn't deliver the materials on time during construction and placement. They also didn't schedule a final walk-through for our property. I have a lot of complaints about this company, but I'll start with just one. When we got the Certificate of Occupancy, we thought we could move in soon. But during our walk-through, we discovered that both the spare bedroom and the master bedroom bathroom granite sinks were cracked. Blue Ridge themselves confirmed this. On December 10, we got the Certificate of Occupancy for our house. Blue Ridge still had to come out and fix some wiring issues, but we didn't know when that would happen. In early January, a crew came to fix the wiring and they were professional and helpful. They also took a look at the ceiling fans and fixed the knocking sound. They checked the cracks in the bathroom countertops and said they needed to be replaced. On January 12, we emailed the leadership team of Blue Ridge Log Cabins again. We told them about the two cracks in each bathroom sink and asked how to resolve the issue. We haven't received a response to this day, which is February 10. Blue Ridge Log Cabins didn't fulfill many parts of their contract. They are slow or don't respond at all when there's an issue.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins Dealing with this company has been a real nightmare, I tell ya

Dealing with this company has been a real nightmare, I tell ya. It's been so stressful that I ended up in the hospital emergency room, nearly dead from a bleeding stomach thingy on September 22. Can you believe it? It took me three scopes, eight blood transfusions, and three whole months of taking meds twice a day just to get back on my feet. All because of these guys.

So, here's the deal. We were promised a house in August, but guess what? It didn't show up until the end of November. And to make matters worse, it got stuck in Buffalo under a ton of snow for a whole week. Like, seriously? Who does that? This delay messed up our plans big time.

But wait, there's more. When the house finally arrived, it was missing a bunch of stuff. I'm talking about the finished roof, two patio doors (in the dead of winter, mind you), the fancy cathedral windows, and most of the interior siding we needed to finish the walls. Oh, and let's not forget the water heater. Yeah, that was missing too.

And get this, the windows they sent us were the wrong color. We ordered white, but they gave us this weird beige color. Like, what the heck? The windows are beige, but the door window is white. And to top it all off, the basement windows are white. It's a total mess, I tell ya. We paid a fortune for this house, and now we're stuck with mismatched windows and walls. We had to find our own stuff to cover up their mistake. Can you believe it?

Oh, and guess what else? They sent us a refrigerator and gas stove that we didn't even ask for. I had to sell the stove because we couldn't connect it to the gas line. Apparently, they don't do hookups in the winter. Go figure. And let me tell ya, selling that stove was a pain. I had to practically give it away since nobody wanted that model. Now I gotta spend even more money to buy a new stove that actually works for us.

And get this, we have a gas furnace that we can't even use because we don't have any natural gas. It's like a cruel joke, I swear. Blue Ridge keeps bugging us for the final payment, but we still don't have a proper house to live in. They haven't offered any real compensation or given us a clear timeline for when they'll fix their mistakes. It's just not right.

I mean, come on! This company has been in the home building business for over 30 years, and they claim that customer service is their top priority. Well, let me tell ya, that's a load of baloney. All we get when we call is their voicemail, and they don't seem to care about our problems. It's just plain hypocritical, if you ask me.

So yeah, dealing with Blue Ridge Log Cabins has been a total disaster. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. Save yourself the headache and find another company to build your dream home. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

I ain't gonna do business with Blue Ridge Log Cabins no more and I wouldn't recommend 'em to nobody. They don't back up their work or their word. I even reached out to the president Chip S. They didn't even try to make things right. Thumbs down. They're highly unprofessional. WE HAVE PICTURES. The pictures show the custom deck that was done poorly with non-galvanized nails, as you can see from the staining. All of it was documented by a BRLC quality control. Still no schedule to finish the job properly.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins In February me and my wife made a deal with Blueridge Log Cabins to build our home in ***, TN

In February me and my wife made a deal with Blueridge Log Cabins to build our home in ***, TN. We chose them 'cause they showed us real pretty models and said the building process would be faster and better 'cause of the controlled conditions in the factory. But right from the start, there were delays in gettin' our drawings done and gettin' approval from the TN state. Finally, the plans got approved and construction started 'round August 23rd. Blueridge finished the house boxes and planned to put 'em on our basement foundation on Sep 14th. Two people told me that the windows and kitchen cabinets came too late to be installed before transport, so they said the trim crew would do it on-site. When they started settin' up the house, I immediately raised concerns 'bout the floors and how things weren't secured properly durin' transport, which could damage the floors and walls. After settin' the house, they didn't bother to protect it from rain. It took 'em several days to send the crew back to secure the house to the foundation and finish the dryin' process. The salesman told me all we had to do was connect water, septic, and power, and the on-site work would take no more than 60 to 90 days. But it took an extra 5 weeks before the first trim crew started work. That's when we found out that the cabinets weren't even ordered and they messed up on 3 windows. It's been over 5 months since the house was set, and we're still months away from havin' a livable house. We're missin' a front door, 3 bedroom windows, the cabinets are wrong or missin', no countertops, no appliances, the livin' room floor is uneven and unfinished, the trim work ain't done and it's really shoddy. The roof shingles were installed horribly.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins My husband and I purchased a log cabin (Watauga) from Blue Ridge Log Cabins

My husband and I purchased a log cabin (Watauga) from Blue Ridge Log Cabins. Due to delays in production of windows, cabinets, and doors, the cabin arrived to our property and was set unfinished on May 22. We were told such delays were due to COVID19 related issues and we tried to be understanding, of course. However, we expressed concern throughout the week leading up to the delivery about providing the full balance to BRLC even though we were essentially paying for an unfinished product. The finance department there was very pushy and wanted their money because they had "in good faith carried the financial burden of building our cabin." We did pay the balance to BRLC upon the delivery of our cabin with their assurances that a project manager would be in touch with us and provide a timeline and schedule as to the completion of our cabin. Our complaint is that our unfinished cabin has now sat out in the rain for over four weeks, susceptible to mold, and not one person from BRLC has been to the property since that day it was dropped off. There are no windows, no doors, no cabinets, flooring, appliances, trim, porches, or steps. They literally dropped the incomplete shell off, collected their money, and left. It has been beyond difficult in trying to get anyone at BRLC to communicate with us about what we can expect next. I am actually shocked at their complete and total lack of communication at this point. This is one of their smallest cabins on a level property about an hour away from their factory. This should have been a relatively easy issue to resolve.

Blue Ridge Log Cabins ComplaintsBoard.com, We contracted with Blue Ridge Log Cabins to build us a log cabin on our property in October

ComplaintsBoard.com, We contracted with Blue Ridge Log Cabins to build us a log cabin on our property in October . We were told the cabin would be complete 60-90 days after it was "set" on the property. We closed on the loan in December. BRLC was extremely anxious to “set” the cabin in February. Discussions were held between us and BRLC as well as or GC and BRLC informing them that the foundation wasn’t ready. Despite this, BLRC delivered the modular components of the home and left them on the side of a state maintained highway on March 9. Needless to say, we weren’t very happy. We contacted BRLC and expressed our concerns. BRLC was extremely pushy and scheduled “setting” the home on the foundation without regard to whether the foundation was ready or not. Multiple phone calls and e-mails expressing ours and GC’s concerns were made with BRLC, and we requested the home not be set until foundation was ready. Apparently they forgot about previous conversations and showed up to set the home on March 17th, once again disregarding our conversations/concerns. We were on vacation that week. Immediately, before they crane team had left, I began receiving e-mails requesting that funds be released to BRLC. I received greater than 20 e-mails within a 24 hour period. (I have saved them for future reference). We were then told that our site manager from BRLC was Jonathan K We never met Jonathan. We repeatedly called and texted Jonathan with minimal response. After the house was set, BRLC disappeared. GC had completed all work that they were able to perform with remainder to be completed after BRLC did their part (Floors, roof, siding, trim, insulation, deck, etc.) Repeatedly we were told that supplies were being ordered and that they would be “hitting it hard” over the next couple of weeks to complete the project. This was in March. March came and went. April came and went. May came and went. Apparently site management had changed and we weren’t informed of that. Multiple messages were left with Chip S, Donald D, Jonathan K, David B, and Parrish S over March, April, and May. This includes text, e-mail, and phone messages. I finally received a call from BRLC requesting an additional $1200 for venting of the stove that they were supplying and contracted to install. He told us that our GC had communicated with BRLC site manager (Jonathan K) that this had to be done per code. I contacted my GC (who happened to be my brother) and he informed me that he had never talked to Jonathan K regarding codes or stove requirements. Actually, he had never even spoken to Jonathan K. I am referencing statement on BRLC website regarding additional charges: “Unlike all other log home builders and unheard of in-home building, Blue Ridge Log Cabins guarantees that the price on your agreement is the final price for your home.” It seemed that the only conversation that we could ever get with BRLC was regarding their requests for money. After three months of the house sitting still, we once again contacted BRLC on June 1 expressing our concerns and increasing agitation/frustrations. Miraculously, a “trim crew” showed up on June 2nd to work on insulation. It wasn’t completed on that day secondary to not passing inspection. During this time, we were accruing extra expenses for dumpsters, portable restrooms, etc. that would not have had to be paid for had BRLC followed through with their promises to work on our home and finish in a timely manner. When a skeleton work crew finally showed up, they managed to drive through our field that had just had water lines placed. They managed to destroy the field and got equipment and vehicles stuck. This resulted in us having to hire an individual to repair the damage costing us an additional $1000 out of pocket. We made several requests to have a walk through with an explanation and plan for completing the project: ie – time line, materials ordered, etc. Requests were repeatedly ignored. Finally, the site manager from BRLC agreed to a meeting on 6/5. Meeting was held on 6/5 as requested. David B from Blue Ridge informed us that their portion of work our house would be completed by the end of the month of June. Crew showed up on 6/8 and worked a day and a half. Tongue and groove ceiling work was performed in the main living area. No further work was performed for the remainder of the week. We contacted David B and we were told, once again, that materials for completion would be delivered the following week. As of 6/15, the only thing that Blue Ridge has completed is the insulation in the house. We have been extremely patient until this point. We do not want to hear “Supplies are being delivered next week” and/or “We are going to hit it hard next week”. This is the same story we have heard for the past three months. We decided to drive to Blue Ridge Log Cabins business to discuss progress. This occurred on 06/15. Meeting was held and those in attendance included ***, Donald O, Donn D, and Freddie J. Donn D guaranteed that their portion of house work would be completed by month’s end. He was asked to provide that in writing, but responded by saying that his word could be trusted. Here we are on July 1st. Not surprisingly, BRLC hasn’t completed the work on the house. Over the last two weeks, some interior trim work has been done. Incomplete projects include but not limited to: Porch, trim work, counter tops, appliance installation, door installation, and portion of shingles. Donn D “word” for promise of completion by end of month isn’t true. Communication continues to be extremely poor. Multiple texts, phone calls, and messages continue to not be returned by BRLC. Not only are we becoming more and more frustrated, we are also accruing additional expenses that we shouldn’t have to secondary to this situation. For example: 1) Storage units; 2) Dumpster rental; and 3) Portable restroom. We are requesting assistance with this situation to get our house completed. Thank you for your assistance in this manner. We hope for a resolution in the very near future.
