The Mesothelioma Center is a wonderful place where one can find great resources, a piece of good advice, and efficient help. Moreover, the staff members really care about you and guide through a lot of questions. The cancer fight is tough. When one is scared, disheartened and confused, it means a lot to have such loving care and guidance. Our patient advocate Danielle Smith is amazing! We are so happy we found the Center; now life is much easier thanks to Mesothelioma Center and its staff.

I found this website with a Google search. I was skeptical of its purpose, at first, because it's sponsored by law firms. Then I realized that, if not for this site and others like it, I wouldn't have found as much online info about asbestos treatment, etc. I have also connected with a patient advocate and have joined the monthly support group. I am now thankful to have this resource available to me. Specifically, Karen has been my go-to person with questions such as general treatment options, managing side effects of treatment, etc.

The Mesothelioma Cancer Help Center has been amazing. When I received my diagnosis I was scared and had little to no information on the disease. Other sources were not helpful and really just scared me more. When I filled out the information card online to get advice on doctors I received a phone call within hours from Amy. She answered all my questions and provided me with valuable information for the doctor who ended up doing my surgery and follow on treatment and sent me a packet of information. Without the advice of the Help Center I'm not sure I would have had the best doctor money could buy.

I was very grateful and appreciative that I had Dr. Smart to assist and help me when my husband was freshly diagnosed to have Mesothelioma. We were stuck in BC's dead-slow system, with a misdiagnosis of ovarian cancer, twelve weeks from diagnosis to surgery, three weeks for pathology, and only then they decided it was peritoneal mesothelioma.
We found asbestos.com, and things started taking off. We saw three doctors, got imaged, got bloodwork, and had our first chemo in a week sooner than BC had our first "telephone consult" scheduled. Needless to say, we'll be dropping THAT appointment!

My Father was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma, and I was desperate for pertinent and useful information about this insidious disease. Upon lengthy research, I discovered Asbestos.com and the Mesothelioma Center. I spoke with a patient support liaison, Danielle, who was absolutely amazing and provided a myriad of useful documents. In fact, she overnighted materials which provided detailed information about mesothelioma, treatment options, relevant questions to consider, and legal considerations. Danielle was professional, compassionate and truly projected an attitude that she wanted to do everything possible to help my Father. It is depressing for me to learn how many families are dealing with this serious diagnosis; however, it is reassuring to know that this agency's mission is to provide emotional support and critical informative materials for patients/families who are navigating mesothelioma. Unequivocally, without hesitation, I would recommend this organization for anyone dealing with mesothelioma.

I contacted Asbestos.com upon finding I have Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma. I was in shock when I learned of my disease. Soon after contacting them via their website, I got a very pleasant call from Amy Smith, Hospice Care Director, who provided me with valuable information and support.

We went over any concerns I had and discussed Mesothelioma for a minute! We also discussed Funds that are out there for Mesothelioma patients. She put me in contact with a lead in that area! She also promised to send me some information. Well the next day I was contacted by one of their attorneys! He helped me to understand how this money is set aside to protect Mesothelioma patients and why it was money that belonged to me. Money that would help with care cost and my family. A couple days later I got a bunch of books about the disease. The books are very helpful. The lawyers have got my case started and the whole team has been very helpful, professional, and courteous! There are lots of lawyers and companies out there to pick from! If I had to do it again I'd go with Asbestos.com!

I received a second opinion confirmation that I had mesothelioma on Friday, 9/3. Two of my friends had gone on asbestos.com on Friday and Saturday to get information. On Sunday, I checked out the website asbestos.com. This was Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Danielle called me shortly after I had entered my information. I was so impressed that she called on Sunday. Danielle has been extremely helpful. The packet of information arrived on Wednesday and it is a wonderful resource. It helped me prepare for my visit today with the oncologist. I was able to prepare questions for the oncologist in advance and he did an amazing job answering them. Danielle also referred me to another oncologist. Danielle has checked on me almost daily to see how I am doing and how I am orchestrating the system with getting insurance to authorize my appointments and with getting the doctors' appointments set up. I cannot say enough good things about Danielle and the resources provided. I have told so many people that if our health care system were as efficient as asbestos.com, we would have an amazing health care system.

I was overwhelmed and frightened when first confronted with the shortness of breath and the implications of a continuing pleural effusion of unknown etiology. In my youth I had served in the merchant marine and the navy. I worked around and with asbestos without any asbestos specific training or protection. It seemed that Mesothelioma had just caught up with me. While I was getting excellent care and attention from my pulmonologist and cardiothoracic surgeon I wanted to find a center of excellence to ensure that I was using the most up-to-date technology to fight my disease. But, I was also leery about contacting an organization funded by class-action-suit lawyers. However, one morning after a sleepless night I decided to give it a shot and I called the Mesothelioma Center. Boy, was I happily surprised! In sharp contrast with making a call to a typical doctor's office I was not confronted with five minutes of recorded BS and forced to leave a message for someone to call me back. I actually got to speak to a human being, straight away. Between Amy and Missy (the medical specialist) was able to ask questions and discuss my concerns with sympathetic, knowledgeable, helpful, and very supportive people. I no longer feel alone in this battle. My sincere thanks to the staff of the Mesothelioma Center and the people who fund it. You provide a rare and valuable service.
