ARS National Services Debt Recovery

My husband received a call from ARS on his personal cell phone about an old Capital One Credit card that I canceled years ago. After he blasted them, they phoned my mother about this who told me to call them. They claim that I owed 100+ on this card and over the years of interest, penalties etc. I now owe them 719.44. They wanted immediant payment at a lesser amount. I was out of town and said that I would look into this when I returned home. My parents received a letter on 12-17-08 demanding payment due 12-19-08. The letter states that when I send a check they would use the rounting numbers from my check to get further money due? I phoned the State Attorney Generals office and they said it is a possible scam. Since the cancelation of this credit card (3 yrs.), I have since married, had a child, and closed personal bank accounts. I used my parents address and phone number for this account and have never received anything about any money being due. Must be nice to wait years after cancelation to say we want more ! I am filing complaints wherever I can after seeing all the suits against this company.

Collection agencies are required by law to send you information through the mail, detailing when the debt occurred (exact date of filing... and if they cannot supply that they cannot collect on that debt), who from, and when the last request for payment was (If they cannot tell you, then they cannot collect on that debt).

They must send you written papers with the information.
Write them company a formal letter, registed mail, saying that you do not own this debt and any further attempt at collection will constitute harassment.
Then if they do contact you, you can then sue them.

ARS National Services Violations of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

Man named "Eric" has been calling my unlisted/unidentified cell phone and leaving a message insisting that I need to call him immediately concerning a "file" he has in his office. His phone number never identifies any company. He also never identifies the purpose of the call pursuant the requirements of the Fair Debt. Collection Practices Act as required of debt collectors i.e., that the call is an attempt to collect a debt. I recently answered my phone where "Eric" finally identified himself as an agent with ARS National Services, Inc. who claims to be collecting a debt owed to CitiBank. He immediately started yelling at me asking me if I was going to pay the debt or not. When I told him I was in conference with other people 9who could hear him screaming over the phone) and to please allow me to call him back or to call me back the next day, he said he would accept that as my answer to not pay the debt and he would inform CitiBank. When I tried to call him back when I had some privacy, no one answered the phone. The following morning he called again an left a message saying if I was prepared to settle the debt he was authorized to settle at a substantial discount. He coersively advised me to call him back a.s.a.p. or the offer would expire and he would take legal action against me. I do not believe his is in compliance with fair debt collection practices.

Man from ARS called my home and reached my teen daughter. He asked how old she was and asked her what she was wearing. He began to breathe heavily and made a slurping sound. He started to tell her about his body part. She hung up.

I also received a call from a person named David. They kept calling my work place and refused to stop. They kept calling so much, that when I picked up the next call I yelled at the person to stop calling me. This person was a well respected client that I had to repeatedly tell I was sorry. Needless to say I had to explain the entire situation. How can they get away with doing this over and over again? I can lose my job over this!

Caught Peter soulias(sr. account rep) threatening legal action to a lady i spoke with on the phone at ARS national and noted the account accordingly and Jim beck (Sup) Deleted my notes because the clients monitor the collector notes and Jim beck wanted to protect Pete. In the middle of me talking to the lady saying it was not right pete was threatining her with everything he could pete himself was standing behind me tapping me on the shoulder telling me to transfer the call back to his desk so he could continue the bantering, I refused and explained she did not want to speak with him. So you see it is not just the Collectors breaking the rules it is also the managers. Pete knew who was on the account because if you are out of the account you can type in the account number and see who is Locked on the account by name thus telling pete it was me talking to this women. Just a Example of the Crap you would have to put up with .

This company is ARS National Services. It is a collection agency.

Private Company, Headquarters Location
201 W Grand Ave., Escondido, CA [protected], United States
[protected], [protected], [protected] fax, http://www.arsnational.com

They are in breach of federally mandatated rules and regulations as it pertains to collection practices.
One of the numbers you can reach them is the notorious Atlanta, Georgia cell phone # of [protected].

This company has called my entire family looking for a person that has been divorced from my family for about a decade. They claimed they got our numbers from the divorced person. I absolutely know that this is false information. I called to inquire about this company and ask for their mailing address and I was hung up on 10 times, just for asking what their mailing address was. I was finally given an address of 960 South Andreasen Dr., Escondido, CA 92025 in which I cannot verify its validity.

I strongly urge anyone who has had similar issues to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission as I and my family members will be participating.

To file a complaint or get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP [protected]); TTY: [protected].
Good luck and do not allow these illegal collection practices to continue - know your rights.Caller: ARS National Services

These guys are real ###s. I called back, and though the debt is mine, I want it all in writing first. He said that a letter was already in the mail and immediatly offered to settle for half the amount. I said I would love to take him up on that offer but I have no money, can I call back after I get the letter and after I get paid and pay my rent, and he went nuts, started screaming that I was not going to pay this debt volunteeraly and being sarcastic and snide about how I havn't made a payment since last August and have had plenty of time to pay it off, despite the fact that I am a comission worker in the service industry in a dying economy. I think he was just mad that I wanted to wait for the letter. This is a game to these people. So treat it like a game. They are gamblers, and they take a chance on buying unpaid debts for a fraction of the amount. If my paycheck is big enough, I'm sure I can make him settle for 40%.

I have also been receiving harassing calls from IRS. However, they are trying to find my 85 year old mother-in-law who has debt she is unable to pay. They leave messages on my saying "don't listen to this if your are not Mother-inLaws name. I have asked them to stop calling me. I have asked them to remove my number from their call list. I have told them she does not live with me, but because we have a unique last name and they know we are related, they keep calling. One of them even told me that he would not give me what I want (removing me from the call list) unless I gave him what he wanted. After many calls where I politely asked them to remove me from the call list and they didn't, we ended up in a shouting match because he refused to remove my number and said he would continue to call me until I told him how to reach my mother in law. I do not have an address to send a cease and desist letter. Does anyone else?

The same exact thing happened to me with the same company. Lately I have been dealing with some guy named David. I have been recieving numerous phone calls and messages. The messages never say who the company is or who is calling. It just says please call us back for a urgent matter. A few days ago I spoke with David and he was very rude to me over the phone. I told him that I have absolutely NO money due to being unemployed because of medical reasons. I also told him that I might have a job coming up where I can possibly pay off a portion of the debt. He then told me that him and the company is not going to sit around while I hope for a job and demanded I pay the entire amount that he claimed to have lowered. I told him that I couldnt. He then started asking if I can borrow the money from friends or family. I told him thats not going to happen. At that time I noticed he was getting irritated. He told me if the debt wasnt paid within a few days my information was going to be given to their attorneys and legal action was going to be taken against me. I dont know where these collectors get the idea that we can just pull money out of no where. Or were lying about not having money and refusing to pay a debt for our own amusement. I am writing a cease and desist letter to them. This has gotten out of hand.
