Refers thieves instead of honorable craftsmen
What's on my mind? "Angie's List", which after civil suits metamorphosed into plain old "Angie, Inc." to protect from future failure to do what you promise suits (2014 $2.8 million and 2016 $1.4 million for double talking and charging credit cards like thieves in the night).. .. then the firm sold itself & renamed: "ANGI Homeservices Inc."
... I mention that because of the sting of embarrassment at accepting the oft repeated television and radio advertisements promise of Angi / Homeservices having recruited and vetted licensed honorable contractors to do any and all construction around a home.
Leading to a expensive relationship with Angie. Military type son-in-law just bought his first house (Elizabeth City, N.C.). They have dogs, did not have a fence. House warming gift of a fence would be grand! Who to call? Angie must be good, she tells all about how she and those she refers can be trusted ..."Her" website states as if fact that "Background Checks" are done on every business principal which includes a third party professional checking criminal records ("a National Criminal Database"), civil records, business licensing and filings, as well as "ratings from homeowners". ( I later learned Angi's 'go to' source of contractors is Home Depot's standing list, nothing more. )
Angi Homeservices provided referrals of two contractors. Former Floridian Marcus Wayne Quintana representing Black Diamond Home Services LLC showed up quickly, talked fast, contracted to install the fence, took a couple of grand "for materials" to appear at the job site in days.
... No surprise now, .. no materials. Neither (expletive) Quintana nor his girlfriend / company owner Cassandra Leah Fischer returned phone calls much less built a fence.
... Simple, after the fact back checking on Angi Homeservices at Wikipedia, securities and exchange commission (it is a 'public company', 'listed' on wall street), and plain old Yelp. Try "Angie's List + Fraud" to understand why filing complaints / demands ' to 'be made whole' were a waste of time.
... And local law enforcement has been on the trail to get a warrant for contractor fraud for weeks without anything resembling a hint of when Quintana can expect to see a judge.
Bottom Line ... ANGIE'S LIST / ANGI HOMESERVICES is an outfit that is not honorable. Black Diamond Home Services is but one more unlicensed thief in the night.
Don't get referrals from ANGI HOMESERVICES .. .Tell your aged neighbors to check the Putnam County used to have a list of licensed contractors but I couldn't find it tonight. Demand to see licenses and proof of insurance ... and reference who is happy before becoming another victim. Call Codes Enforcement and ask. ... Anything except ANGI's LIST HOMESERVICES!
(First ever trying the hashtag thing but these special people and company do not deserve to fly free) #Angi'sList #Angie #HomeServices #MarcusQuintana #BlackDiamondHomeServices #AngieFraud
Desired outcome: The only reason Quintana came into our lives was because Angi Homeservices advertises background checks of those they refer. But for reliance on their advertising I would not have been out over $2,000. I would like that money back.
Appliance repair
Yesterday I made arrangements with ANGI to have a serviceman come to my home and repair the dishwasher. The serviceman who was scheduled to arrive today at 1:30 p. m evidently went to the wrong address — he texted me at 1:29, indicating that he was at my address — but he was not there. I tried to call him at the texted number [protected]) but there was no answer. He texted me back and repeatedly claimed to be at my address, BUT HE WAS NOT THERE. I have a witness to this fact.
I called ANGI and was told that the serviceman had been at my address — the customer service representative claimed that she had "GPS information" to indicate that the serviceman had supposedly been at my address. He was not there, and again I have a witness to prove it.
I was then charged $196.45. When I called ANGI, I was told that this charge was not reversible, and that I would have to pay a $50 fee to re-book with ANGI for this service. I declined.
How sad that I service that was born to protect women from being exploited by con-artist repair people has now, as ANGI, become the source of so many problems for so many people — read the reviews if you disbelieve. DO NOT engage this operation — do yourself a favor and AVOID them. l
Desired outcome: reversal of unwarranted charge to my credit card.
TV hanging
I had a date and time wilth Tracy Lattimore [protected]. He was to be at my home between 12 and 3pm. He did not show up. When I called, he said he could not come because his supervisor told him not do side jobs.
In the meantime, his background noise, which was extremely loud, sounded like the Hardrock's slot machines. They he said he could come sometime after 6pm.
What kind of professionals is Angie hiring.
landscape work was not complete as per contract. Contract was with TD Construction and Jeffrey and Shelley Folger. ([protected]@att.net)
Contract signed and dated 08-27-2022
Contract stated:
-above ground pool installed and put 3/4 in ground. not completed. The pool is above ground and installed backwards.
- concrete deck was to be installed. no concrete deck. Instead, a wooden deck was started and never completed.
-6 French drains to be installed. no drains were installed.
-low lying areas were to be filled and built up. not complete
- the job was to be done in 2-3 days. 3 months later the job was still incomplete.
Desired outcome: My husband and I would like a full refund on this job which is a total of $10148,50. We will waver the cost of leveling the ground so we can start from scratch.
Oven Repair Service Nightmare
In August 2022, I searched for an Oven repair contractor to fix my over. I went the Angi app and was contacted by Thumbtack.com/Westcoast Handy Men. A young man name Jose Garcia contacted me and an appointment was scheduled.
From August to now, December, the job has never been completed. My oven is not usable. I paid this young man for a service he never completed. He's left the oven dismantled and now he has block my text messages and phone calls from getting through.
He has inconvenienced me and my family from being able to prepare meals. We've not been able to cook for Labor day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and now we're approaching Christmas, and we have no oven. This company came to me via Angi app. Westcoast Handy Men operates under the umbrella of Angi. They're part of your roster of companies. This is not a good reflection on Angi/Angie's list.
What will you do to resolve this matter? I paid this Jose Garcia and he didn't complete the job.
Desired outcome: First, I'd like to receive a refund from Angi. I paid your company and I paid this handy man, Jose Garcia. Lastly, that you have companies whose customer service is par excellent. A much better choice of companies on Angie's List.
Leads
Don’t buy leads from them
As a small business we used Angie for almost 3 years. Not the greatest leads, but kept the traffic flowing. Occasionally we reached out to inquire why the leads are so poor. And their strategy was to to prolong the investigation process as long as possible until the issue is forgotten and change the account representative every few month to kind of get a feeling of a new beginning.
At some point it seemed like they were generating fake leads them selves. It was getting to a such a ridiculous level. When they would take a random name and just add a number at the end and @gmail.com
Totally random not working number and abstract not existing address that would not come up on maps.
Over the course of the years I had a different sales reps dealing with Angie so every time they tried to raise the issue they were convinced that it will get better.
But it never did.
The ratio of real leads versus fake is about 1 to 10 without exaggeration. The average about 1-2 booked jobs per month.
Finally when I had enough with them and decided to put the money towards other more effective lead providers. I called to stop the service. Around April 2021
And surprisingly for me I had a 1 year contract that I never heard about. And in order to close the contract I was supposedly obligated to pay 50% of the yearly contracts budged in cancellation fee.
Even though it was only 4 month left on the contract, out of principles I refused to pay the fee. Many emails and phone calls back and forth the representative Natalie was able to give me a “Deal” I only pay half of my installments per month for the remaining 4 month, after the period it will be cancelled.
Busy season was coming and accepted the offer. It was still better than paying a cancellation fee.
Obviously the 4 month leads were the lowest quality possible. I believe we booked 1 job in 4 month.
At that point I had 3 sales reps in the office.
4 month passed and contract “Autorenewed” 😂
Apparently someone opened an email and accepted the auto renewal agreement.
No signature no initials. No serval confirmation that we agree to renew
Just auto renewed.
The summer was very busy for us. And Angie kept charging my card for the lowest leads possible since we were moved to the cheapest bracket 6 month ago.
At some point we replaced the card that was on file and Angie charged my personal card that was probably used years ago.
That’s when I noticed that they are still charging my card.
I have been dealing with an issue for two month now.
My every attempt to speak to supervisor or someone above my representative is failed.
Every time I call they say I have to deal with representative
I blocked my cards witch is very inconvenient. And they are still attempting to charge them (I’m getting notifications )
Not just the cancellation fee. But random numbers hoping it will go through
Bottom line.
I never agreed to auto renew.
I never authorized to charge my card
No customer service
The worst leads ever
And overall waste of time and money.
Desired outcome: Billing adjustments
VALIANT ROOFING gutters and Vinyl siding
Paid them $5000 downpayment to install bright red metal roofing, install bright red gutters and a cream color vinyl on mini barn. Wrote the check May 11th and mailed it to them. Check was cashed. lied to numerous times about the install date, didn't show up or call. Last install date was October 19th. No show or call. When I finally got to talk to someone I told them I didn't want the roof done Was told that he Craig Richards and someone else would else would come by and talk to me and set up a install date. Told him I had been lied to so much why should I believe him now. I was cancelling the project and I wanted My $5000 back. I didn't mention any interest just my down payment back. I told him today after he finally called me that I was cancelling the project. My mini barn has wood showing on the roof. 2 hurricanes have been through here Since I first contacted them about the work. My number should you need it is [protected] Larry Harrington
Desired outcome: I want my $5000 down payment back! An apology would be useless as their customer service is non existent.
Yard Cleanup
Angi provided me a contractor called My Sons and I to clean my yard. The contractor arrived with a rake and subsequently explained that he had equipment problems--first broken truck, second stolen equipment. We were very patient as one day job stretched beyond a week. Contractor promised to come back and take away bags of leaves (38, I believe) and finish bagging remaining pile of leaves. Promised several times, even told me on phone he would be by in 10 minutes. Leaves and unbagged leaves are still here. Won't answer phone, return calls and is ignoring texts (which initially he responded to and used to communicate). Have notified Angi of problem with no response. Want job finished or not to be charged for incomplete job. Still waiting to hear back from Angi. Extremely disappointing.
Desired outcome: Finish job or refund money because I will have to hire someone else. Can't do it myself or I would.
booked, paid via affirm, for services that got royally messed up
I booked handyman services and was to have Affirm pay over time. Angi could not get the help on day requested and moved the date 5 days ahead. Not convienient for me, so I cancelled. I notifed Angi, but Angi would not acknowledge it and kept rescheduling. After much attempts to reach anyone via email, text, etc, and 2 weeks later, Angi did acknowledge, but did not notify Affirm; I'm still getting billed. Attempts to communicate with both Angi and Affirm is dredfull! They just want to get the money, even when they don't earn it.
Oven repair that did not get repaired
After three appointments, regarding the first two, 1) the repairman cancelled because he did not have the right tools with him and 2) the repairman got a flat tire on his way to our house. Finally, the third repairman came today, one hour late, but could not repair the oven. It still will not heat. I had provided the name of the oven (Kitchen Aid, electric double oven), a complete description of the problem and what had caused it (After it did a self-clean, it would not heat up at all.) Because he said he did not have access to Kitchen Aid parts, he could not repair the oven. He told me I had to call a Kitchen Aid specialist. Because I had entered the details of the problem when I contacted Angi, and the fact the repairman acknowledged he could not get replacement parts, I refuse to pay the bill. I will pay a modest amount for the service call, but not the amount I was told the amount would be. This was my first experience with Angi, and probably my last.
Thank you,
Darlene Vlasek

Desired outcome: Please charge me only a modest amount for the service call, i.e. $25.
incorrect soffit & porch replacement quote.
I started to fill out form but didn't even finish OR submit before calls came in. Did not have category for wood trim replacement covered by siding & perhaps gutters. In comments explained what I wanted. Rep said could be done. Contractor just left -says they only do gutters. Yesterday another rep tried to get my charge card before even coming out to see what all needed doing. Hung up. Thank goodness I read these comments before going any further.
Desired outcome: Never deal with these people.
Refusal to fulfill contract & Angi cashed my pre-payment
I requested a door specialist to come to repair 4 door frames and skewed fits of two of these. I was given a quote $339.70, and the tradesman a few days before emailed and asked for photos. I answered that the verbal description was sufficient, since I do not know how to take photos and send them on the internet. He showed up at the appointed time, Monday this week 11/14/22, and complained that I deceived him about the frames by not sending photos. He departed after 30 minutes of quarreling and did not work. On the same day Angi's List processed the credit card charge. I believe this is a breach of contract, since he performed no work.
Angi has no tab on her web site to 'contact us'. How convenient! Please help me process a refund claim.
Edward Tipton, 1291 Bluff Creek, Drive, Chaska, MN 55318
Desired outcome: Refund of $300.00
Booking number [protected]. Install TV sound bar and set up.
David — the angi rep showed up on time and was told to install a new sound bar, check if everything was set up correctly, do an actual test on the tv, the sound, the remote-control function to ascertain if all was working correctly.
David seemed to not really know what he was doing and hooked up and took off several components until finally thinking all was ok. He turned on the tv and after manipulating the remote several times got the tv to actually show a picture... More effort was required to get the sound bar to work as david seemed to be trying to find the right buttons by doing a trial-and-error approach — rather than knowing what he was doing.
Then, he could not get netflix to come on. Many more attempts and after 2 hours and 45 minutes, I decided he did not know what he was doing.
I told him to forget it and I would call geek-2-you to clean up the problem.
Note: the tv would not turn off with the remote control after david left. I had to unplug the tv to turn it off.
I want my money back — i'll never use angi again!
Questions?
Desired outcome: Angi booking number 20496000I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
Handyman
I contracted with Angie for a handyman to do 3 hours work. They scheduled and said the charge against my credit card would not post until the work was complete. On the scheduled day, the handyman was a no show and neither I nor Angie customer support could contact him. Angie rebooked the work with another handyman for Saturday. Come Saturday, the handyman showed up but was not ready to do any work. He said he wanted to scope out the job and later in the day called to schedule for Tuesday at noon. Come Tuesday, again the handyman was a no show and no call. I finally called him an hour after he was scheduled to start and was told he had an accident and need to reschedule. (He did not reach out to me or inform Angie). I told him to forget it. I called and canceled with Angie and was told they would reimburse my charge card. IE: They (Angie) had already charged my credit card when the handyman had not done the work! I tried to voice my displeasure, but the Angie rep just kept talking over me. I kept my composure and did not rant over their lack of having competent and considerate sub contractors. I will no longer use Angie.
Cold Calling
I had a call from Angeies list from a gentleman named Jacob, I told him our company was not interested and disconnected as we have customers calling back to back, he called back and proceeded to tell me I am ignorant, he asked to speak to my manager because clearly I am the most poor in the company, when telling Jacob I was a manager he proceeded to laugh out loud, then tell me he hopes he can get me fire. This company is so unprofessional. All this over a cold call denial.
Desired outcome: Jacob Fired
Interior designer
Pamela Kenney traditions of America is co name. in Montgomery County, includes Chester county, Malvern, Paloi, Brinmar, and surrounding areas. This is a so called interior designer who did the house I currently live in. I was lied to and she never give me prices and she spent half my budget on tile flooring alone. She lied and used left over materials such as extra light and faucet fixture that the builder had in my bathrooms none of the fixtures matches. I mean some were silver some brushed gold black it’s been completely insane… She lied to me so much so that now a year later, almost I have proof of what I actually wanted and ordered. She did everything different. She did what she wanted. After I corrected missed outlets she never spoke to me again so here I am She has not spoken to me and is not willing to fix anything she lies and steals from you. She will buy stuff at a cheap discounted price for example I don’t know where for sure but she did things like buy tile that is leftovers in order to get a cheap price for her and charge you full price for it then if you need more, there’s nothing left because she bought the last of what Home Depot had when you ordered something safe from Florida tile… the main thing she won’t do is give ur main sqFt charges. U wants to group it all together so u don’t know what u pay for anything. My cabinets are different colors, which makes no sense whatsoever because why would anybody want five not matching greens in their kitchen, she put in an oven that was a $2100 oven because the cabinets she gave them the wrong specs and they were too small and that was the only one that fit. However it’s so tiny you can’t even fit a small pizza in it I wanted French doors. She gave me sliding glass doors. She did everything she could wrong and then cut and left. This woman will lie to your face. She knows exactly how to tell you what you want to hear, but in the end, you will not get anything you want. You will get what she wants and she will win. I say buyer beware because this woman is out to destroy everything you love and you’ll end up with your dream home becoming a disaster. Fridge was wrong used something maybe floor one but broken from get go. All appliances have dents and scratches. I’ve never seen anything this indiane. She works w poor contractors and sub contractors. Bushes r dead cement cracked she hired whoever was cheapest and u get what u pay for but see I paid full price. She gave me the cheap crappy price work. At the expensive coast. There’s no Schlueter between part of the floor. Where are you trip because there’s such a huge gap she just didn’t care. She got her money and that’s all she wanted. I just wanted my house to be done nicely. I had a back room I wanted a patio with screen. She made it into an extra room with glass windows. It’s not what I wanted. I now have three living rooms who needs that but she got a good deal on the glass is what I assume because glass doesn’t even match in windows size so she changed it. She does what she does to give her self money and doesn’t care what you get but again she will tell you what you want and she’s good. She knows exactly what to say to get you to say yes, but I’m telling you she’s a wrong person to go with find anyone else. This is a warning if you don’t listen, then I pray for you because you need to go to someone else. In pic sink is all scratched. Dents in fridge. Oh lord the whole house it would b 300 plus pics of mistakes. This is my dream home that became a nightmare because of one greedy designer who lied the whole way through. I’m not a builder. I paid to have a professional do this and to be so screwed was devastating. East coast builder helped her rob me. I paid for a new house w new applicare good tile and got garbage used everything fixtures that don’t match nothing mates. It’s crazy and I’m not the only one she did this to other but people t afraid to speak out. I want to see no one else get screwed like u did by her.
Desired outcome: My desired outcome was simply to have what I asked for unfortunately, a new House or even equal and I didn’t get it. No changes we’re confirmed w me. Now la waters r involved. It sucks.
Paid for services not done
Contacted Alex of Demergel Building, LLC, located in Zion, IL, in late August and met with him on 9/6/2022 to provide an estimate for bathroom and kitchen remodeling. He arrived with a quote of $24,500.00 for both projects and asked for a 50% down payment. I paid him $14,000.00 for a down payment with an additional $1200.00 he asked for regarding another repair in the house. The bathroom was gutted and the debris removed. The shower was partially re-framed as was the floor with new tile placed. No other work has been done. Alex continues to say "we'll be there tomorrow" but hasn't showed nor has he delivered the items for the bathroom other than one can of paint, a toilet, and some broken tiles that were ordered for the shower. He has been able to show me only approximately $5000.00 that he has spent from the $15,200.00 I paid him. I am asking for $10,000.00 returned due to no progress on the shower remodel after these past 3 months. He does not return calls or texts. I need help getting the money back and do not want anybody else to even think about using him or his company.
Desired outcome: Return the money he owes me. I do not want him to continue our project.
Painting
I purchased and paid for a painting job (BOOKING #[protected]). The painter did not show up. I called and they set up another appointment the next day. Booking date: Nov 4, 2022
Booking start time: 08:00 EDT
Booking service: Small Interior Painting Jobs
Booking duration: 12.0
The 2nd gentleman showed up one hour late the next day and had only a 8 foot ladder and we had 14 foot high ceilings. So needless to say the job did not get done. He was complaining that Angies book contractors and don't give them information and book projects that take longer than expected. He did not have good words for Angies.
I travelled across the state of Florida to get this job done, had to pay for a hotel and the job still is not started. I am again having to return next week to get the job completed. I think that people need to know how this company runs. I called numerous times trying to speak to a manager or a supervisor and no one would connect me to one. This is and has been the worst experience I have ever had and I don't want anyone else to experience this.
Desired outcome: Get compensated for the inconvenience that I have endured.
Billed twice for one visit. Actual visit was 9/9/22, second billing was 10/11/22
I had a repairman out and was billed $212.48 on 9/29/22. The repairman worked on my kitchen cabinet doors. About 7 days later, the same repairman came to my house and told me he had another order. I did not place a second order. When I told him this, he told me he thought it was a mistake and he left. On 10/12/22 I was billed $211.49, How do I get a refund. This is why I don't like paying through your system. Especially since you don't have a phone number or way to contact the company except by placing a new order.
Desired outcome: Would like a refund credit to my VISA for the second charge of $211.40.
Home Generator not being repaired
The repair started 10/28/2022.
I replaced the starter battery.
The service tech. removed all the old gas and put in fresh.
He verified that gas was flowing.
Could not get generator to start.
Said he would have to do some research and get back with me.
I have not heard anything from him since then.
Do I need to get someone else?
I can be reached at [protected]
Bill Jones
e-mail [protected]@gmail.com
Desired outcome: I want the generator fixed by Friday (11/4) or a full refund. If I do not get a satisfactory resolution, I will cancel my contract.
