Americas Best Value Inn review: charging my card even though I didn't stay there

I made a reservation online at the hotel in schulenburg Texas on October 17th. And I asked for a non smoking room. And preferably on ground floor since I have a bad knee. Within 10 minutes I received a message from the hotel that they could not honor my request. Because their entire hotel was open smoking anywhere. I replied back to cancel my reservation because. Of health issues my wife and I get very sick from breathing cigarette smoke.
And I then made reservations at another americas choice hotel in another city.
But the hotel in schulenburg. Went ahead and charged my credit card. And after numerous attempts to have them refund my money. They have not even replied to any of my messages. I am simply wanting my money returned.
I stay at your hotels about 3 times a week. And this is the first one I have encountered that does not offer non smoking rooms.
I am trying to resolve this issue without having to resort to legal recourse because it will be very costly for both parties.
But because I feel they illegally took my money thru false advertising. (There is no where on their online posts stating they are a total smoking establishment) that I will not stop until my money is returned.
