Mixed Feelings About Afterpay: A Review of the Buy Now, Pay Later Service
I've been using Afterpay for a few years now and I have to say, it's been a lifesaver for me. As someone who's on a fixed income, it's not always easy to make big purchases all at once. But with Afterpay, I can split the cost into four easy payments, which makes it much more manageable for me.
However, I have to say that I was pretty disappointed when they changed the app so that I couldn't use it in-store anymore. I don't have a fancy smartphone, so I'm not able to take advantage of that feature. Now, I'm limited to using it for online purchases only.
And then there was the whole "no payment up front" thing. I was really excited when they announced that, but then when I tried to use it, it didn't work. I reached out to customer service, but it took me several messages to get a response. And when I finally did, they told me that I wasn't eligible for the no payment up front option because I hadn't been using the service frequently enough.
Honestly, I was pretty frustrated by that. I've been a loyal customer for years, and it felt like they were punishing me for not using the service more often. It's no wonder that more and more people are turning to ZIP pay instead.
Overall, I still think that Afterpay is a great service, but I do wish that they would be a little more transparent about their policies and make it easier for all customers to take advantage of their features.
Warning: Afterpay's Lack of Merchant Verification Leaves Customers High and Dry
Afterpay ain't doing their job right, they ain't checkin' out the merchants they're workin' with. They're lettin' payments go through for websites that pop up and disappear in a blink of an eye. Take sablehubs.com for example. I bought a Winch from them and Afterpay was the only way to pay. But now the site's gone, I ain't got no shipping confirmation or the product, and it's been 16 days past the original delivery date. Afterpay's tellin' me to ask for a refund from the merchant, but there ain't no merchant no more. And Afterpay's just fine with keepin' on takin' my payments. It ain't like it's any easier to get in touch with Afterpay than a website that's vanished. There ain't no contact info on their website, you just gotta file a dispute and wait for an email or phone call that ain't come yet. All I'm gettin' is automated messages, but no real person to talk to. So, I'm tellin' ya, don't use Afterpay.
Afterpay: A Third-Party Nightmare - Beware of Bad Support and Unfulfilled Promises
Support was really bad. I had to cancel an order with a merchant and they said they would give me back some of my payment. But they didn't do what they said they would do and they never told Afterpay that the order was cancelled. I told Afterpay about this and showed them emails between me and the merchant and proof that the order was cancelled. But they didn't do anything. They said it was between me and the company and they kept charging me for something I cancelled and never got.
So I went to my bank and told them what happened and I also reported Afterpay to the Better Business Bureau. Afterpay is a really bad third party company that lets bad companies do whatever they want. I learned that it's better to just pay all your money up front and not use a third party. If I had just gone to my bank, things would have been fixed faster. Be careful of third party companies that don't care about you.
Is Afterpay Legit?
Afterpay earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
Afterpay.com has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.
Afterpay.com has been deemed safe to visit, as it is protected by a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to help protect networks from online threats.
Several positive reviews for Afterpay have been found on various review sites. While this may be a good sign, it is important to approach these reviews with caution and consider the possibility of fake or biased reviews.
We looked up Afterpay and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
This website offers payment methods that provide the option for customers to get their money back, which could be a positive indicator of the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Afterpay has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 0% of 20 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Afterpay protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Afterpay: Unreliable and Unhelpful Customer Service Experience with Forever21 Purchase
I recently had a disappointing experience while attempting to use Afterpay for a purchase on Forever21's website. Unfortunately, my order did not completely process, but Afterpay still charged me for the purchase. I was initially upset, but hoped that the situation could be resolved by reaching out to both Afterpay and Forever 21. However, both companies denied their ability to help me.
Feeling frustrated, I contacted Afterpay for a refund. They informed me that it would take five days to process. However, that deadline came and went with no action taken. When I followed up with Afterpay, I was told that the wait time was actually ten days. After waitng once again, I still had not received my refund. I reached out to Afterpay once more, albeit with the same information as before. To my surprise, Afterpay told me that the order was actually placed on June 6th, instead of on May 24th. I even had screenshots to prove the correct date, but they refused to listen. They only managed to provide me with excuses and no actual help.
Regrettably, I am now stuck with a bill for dresses that I never received. It is clear to me that Afterpay subscribes to a policy of taking advantage of its customers by not addressing or resolving their concerns. While I used to be a big fan of Afterpay, my experience has been so negatively impacted that I must say goodbye to the company.
Afterpay Review: A Warning About Unpleasant Experiences, Credit Checks, Loyalty & Customer Service
If you are considering using Afterpay, I highly recommend that you reconsider. My personal experience with the company has been far from pleasant, and I feel compelled to share my story in the hopes that others can avoid the same mistakes.
Firstly, despite what they claim, Afterpay absolutely does perform credit checks on its customers. And even if you are diligent about making your payments on time, these credit checks can still negatively impact your credit score and make it more difficult for you to secure loans down the road. Lenders are wary of those who use services like Afterpay, and many will avoid giving loans to customers who have utilized such services in the past.
Additionally, my loyalty to Afterpay was ultimately not rewarded. After years of being a dedicated customer and spending thousands of dollars through their app, I found that my credit limit had been drastically reduced after just six months of inactivity. Despite having a lengthy history with the company, I was punished for not using their service frequently enough.
Leaving aside the financial aspects of my experience, I must also note that the customer service at Afterpay was terrible. The representatives that I interacted with were consistently rude and unhelpful, making it clear that they did not value their customers in the slightest.
Furthermore, Afterpay's recent update to their app has only made matters worse. They have removed the convenient in-store barcode feature, forcing customers to buy new phones or use clunky workarounds just to make purchases. It seems that the company is more interested in partnering with Mastercard for the sake of profit and data mining than providing a seamless and user-friendly experience.
Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend Afterpay to anyone. While there may be a few positive reviews out there, the majority of real people that I've spoken to have experienced similar difficulties and frustrations. If you are looking for a secure and reliable way to make purchases, there are simply better options available.
Afterpay Review: Proceed with Caution When Dealing with Unknown Vendors
When I first used Afterpay (afterpay.com), it seemed to work well. I was comfortable with the vendors I knew and had no problems communicating with Afterpay throughout the ordering and shipping process. However, my experience with a vendor I did not know left a lot to be desired.
I saw some really cute clothes advertised on Chicme US and ordered them. Since the vendor was located in the US, I assumed that the clothes were coming from there. It turned out that the vendor was located in another country.
When my order was delivered, two months later, I had already lost interest in the items. In January, Afterpay reached out to me asking whether I wanted to wait or cancel my order. I immediately chose to cancel as we had been trying to cancel it since December 5, 2021.
I returned the items to the address advised by Afterpay and the vendor, but I was still sent to collections for goods that were no longer in my possession. This has left me feeling cheated and scammed by Afterpay.
It seems that Afterpay will deal with any vendor, whether honest or dishonest. What's worse is that they make more money from their late fees, so there's little incentive for them to push for cancellations. Overall, I found the experience with Afterpay to be less than satisfactory and I will be more careful about using them in the future.
Afterpay Review: Poor Vendor Verification and Customer Service
I recently made an online purchase and decided to use Afterpay as the payment method. At first, I thought it was a good deal and was excited to try it out. However, my excitement quickly turned into frustration when I realized that the vendor I purchased from was a total fraud.
To make matters worse, the email contact registered with Afterpay was not legitimate and the website registered with Afterpay pointed to an unrelated company in another country. I was shocked and disappointed that Afterpay did not properly verify their vendors before allowing them to use their service.
I immediately contacted Afterpay and provided them with all the details of the fraud. However, it took them a whopping 6 weeks to even acknowledge that they needed to look into it. I was extremely frustrated and decided to open a dispute with my credit card company.
To my surprise, the next Afterpay payment was coming due and they said they couldn't waive or suspend it. I was outraged that they were still expecting me to pay them even though they were taking so long to investigate the fraud.
Finally, I had enough and changed my credit card number. I let Afterpay know that I wouldn't be paying them a cent. After another month, the case was resolved in my favor. It was a no-brainer that I was the victim of fraud and Afterpay should have acted more promptly to verify their vendors.
I was left wondering why it took Afterpay so long to get their act together. They should have at least suspended the second payment when they were taking so long to investigate. It's disappointing to see such a scummy company exist and I would never ever deal with them again.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Afterpay to anyone. They do not deserve even a single star for their poor customer service and lack of vendor verification. It's important to be cautious when making online purchases and to use a payment method that you trust.
Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Afterpay: Unable to Assist with Late Payment Due to Hacked Credit Card
I don't usually write reviews or anything on the internet or social media, but I had to share my experience with Afterpay. Recently, my bank account was hacked and my credit card on file was closed. I was waiting for a new card and asked for help from Afterpay. I wanted to know if they could move the payment date or put it on hold or give me any information on how to get a few days to put my new card in use. Unfortunately, they only have email customer service, no live chat or phone support.
After four days, I finally received a response from Afterpay. They said they understood my frustration and apologized, but they couldn't do anything about the late payment because the system doesn't allow them to modify anything. They also informed me that my spending limit had decreased to $800, but they would review it later and it may change back.
I have been a loyal customer of Afterpay for the past two years, making over 20 payments and never being late. This one time I asked for help before it became late, and they couldn't do anything to assist me. I am extremely disappointed with their lack of customer service and will finish my last payment with them. However, I will never want to buy anything with Afterpay in the future.
Overall, my experience with Afterpay was not a positive one. Their customer service was lacking, and they were unable to assist me when I needed help. I hope they can improve their services in the future to better assist their customers.
Afterpay Review: Frustrating Experience with Customer Service and Payment Issues
I recently had an experience with Afterpay that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had been using the service for a while and had built up a spending limit of $600 by making my payments on time. I was excited to make a purchase on Amazon using a single use card provided by Afterpay. However, when I attempted to use the card, the funds were never deducted from my account as they were supposed to be.
Days later, I received a notification from Amazon asking me to update my payment method. I tried to create another card, but encountered the same issue. Frustrated, I ended up using Klarna instead, since I had the available funds. When I went back to the Afterpay app to reach out to customer service, I was shocked to see that my spending limit had dropped from $600 to $0.
I immediately contacted Afterpay, but my only option was to send a message and wait for a response. There was no phone number to call for immediate assistance. I waited for two days to receive an automated response, which did not address my issue. I explained that I had an issue with Amazon and that I always make my payments on time. However, the response I received accused me of having late payments and refunds. I was confused - how could I have a late payment on something I wasn't even allowed to purchase? And how could I have received a refund for a purchase that was never made?
My actual issue was completely ignored, and I was left feeling frustrated and helpless. I would not recommend using Afterpay to anyone, as their customer service is slow and unhelpful. It's a shame, because the concept of Afterpay is great - but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Afterpay Review: A Ridiculous App and Experience - Don't Waste Your Time!
Afterpay is one of the most ridiculous apps I have ever used. It's not just the app, it's the whole Afterpay experience. I really wish I could get people to stop using them. They gave me a spending limit, which was fine. I spent an hour signing up, which was also fine. But when I tried to purchase items from different retailers, I was declined every time. It's ridiculous! They kept sending me texts and emails, telling me to come back and buy my items. They even encouraged me to use their app more.
I had to sit there and chat with an agent, but it wasn't even a live chat. They told me that they had to make quick decisions on allowing my purchases. One purchase was $88, and I was going to pay it in two payments instead of four. But they still declined it. My credit score is decent, not horrible. I also have money in the bank. I'm just going through hard times and needed something for my kids.
After I got declined, they told me that I could still use Afterpay. What a joke! I signed up for Sezzle and got approved for $1000 almost instantly. I only spent $200. Affirm is also a better option. Don't use Afterpay. It's not worth the hassle.
I hope this review helps someone who is considering using Afterpay. Don't waste your time with them. There are better options out there.
Afterpay's Credit Limit Cut to $50 Despite Clean Record: My Experience and Better Alternatives
I've had the opportunity to use Afterpay's online payment system every once in a while, and so far, the overall experience has been alright. I always made sure to pay on time, and I was never late with any of my payments. However, recently, I found myself in the strange position of having a zero balance with Afterpay. And despite having a clean record and setting up good payment habits in the past, the company still chose to limit my credit limit to a mere $50. I don't consider that to be a terribly reasonable or accurate reflection of my creditworthiness, so I'd advise others to take their business elsewhere. One Alternative that I would recommend is Affirm. I have also used their services and had a much better experience overall.
Afterpay charged me for a mystery purchase and their support is unresponsive
As a customer, I recently had a concerning experience with Afterpay. Unfortunately, they charged me an amount of money that wasn't linked to any order or purchase I had made through their platform. Naturally, this left me feeling unsettled and I felt the need to quickly get in touch with their support team to rectify the issue.
However, as I attempted to seek resolution to the issue, I realized that contacting Afterpay was far from a straightforward or easy process. To this day, I have not heard back from them and it has been several days since I lodged my complaint.
Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend Afterpay to anyone based on this experience. If they cannot be relied upon to respond to customer queries and rectify issues when they do arise, it leaves one questioning the level of care they give to their customers and the quality of their services.
Review of Afterpay Customer Service: Unresponsive Phone Support Leaves Disgruntled Customer Waiting for Answers
Afterpay, the rapidly expanding online payment system, has recently come under criticism for its customer service. One disgruntled customer has taken to the internet to share their frustrating experience, where they paid for a dress that never arrived, and were unable to speak to a representative over the phone.
It is understandable that customers may feel frustrated when they have paid for a product that does not arrive. In such cases, customer service should be readily available to help resolve the issue as quickly as possible. However, this review suggests that Afterpay's approach to customer service may not be meeting customers' expectations.
It is concerning that the reviewer was unable to speak to a representative over the phone. While it is true that many companies now prefer to handle customer service through email or online chat, there are still many situations where speaking to a person directly can be the most effective way to resolve an issue. After all, it can be much easier to explain a problem or ask questions vocally than through typed messages.
Of course, we should also keep in mind that this is just one review. While it is an important piece of feedback for Afterpay to consider, we should also consider other reviews and the company's overall reputation when making a judgement.
In general, however, it's important for any company to prioritize customer service. Whether through phone, email, or chat, it's important for companies to be available to their customers and help them resolve any issues or concerns as quickly and smoothly as possible. Hopefully, Afterpay will take steps to improve any areas where their customer service may be lacking, and continue to build a strong reputation as a trusted payment provider.
Unpleasant Experience with Afterpay - Be cautious with this online payment platform
Recently, I had an unpleasant experience with Afterpay, the online payment platform. I was charged an amount higher than what was supposed to be deducted from my account, and unfortunately, the company showed no interest in reimbursing the excess amount. Needless to say, this left me feeling very disappointed with their services.
To address the issue, I reached out to their customer support team, hoping for a resolution. However, they got in touch with me, but no action was taken to rectify the mistake. This was very frustrating as it seemed as if there was no regard for the customer's concerns.
I am hesitant to recommend using their services, and I must advise you to be cautious if you are considering using Afterpay for your financial transactions. The lack of attention to the issue and failure to provide a solution has left a sour taste in my mouth. It is essential to have trust and transparency between customers and service providers, and my experience with Afterpay was lacking in both of these areas.
Overall, I would suggest looking into alternative payment options to avoid the risk of encountering similar issues with Afterpay. Hopefully, they will improve their customer service in the future and address these types of discrepancies more efficiently.
Afterpay Betrayal: Questionable Seller and Lack of Support Leaves Customer Feeling Let Down
When I first came across Afterpay, I was impressed by the concept and felt comfortable placing my trust in their service. However, after a recent experience with a questionable seller through Afterpay, I'm sorry to say that I felt completely let down and betrayed.
The situation arose when I placed an order with mycalmblanket through Afterpay, only to unfortunately be scammed by the seller. I was shocked and deeply disappointed, but even more so by the lack of concern and care I received from Afterpay. It seemed to me that they were more interested in collecting their own portion of the transaction, rather than ensuring the safety and security of their customers.
This experience has definitely left me feeling more cautious and wary about using Afterpay in the future. It's disheartening to feel that as a customer, my well-being and satisfaction is not a priority for them. I hope that Afterpay can take note of these types of situations and work towards a better protocol for keeping their customers protected and happy.
Afterpay.com Review: Beware of Refund Policy - A Stressful Experience Worth Avoiding
I recently had a pretty stressful experience with Afterpay.com and I feel like I have to share my experience with others who may be considering using their service. Unfortunately, I returned an item and was met with some frustration when I realized that Afterpay would not give me a refund for the returned item. It was a pretty significant sum too- $400!
I initially tried to contact Afterpay customer service to resolve the issue. However, my efforts proved fruitless as they refused to offer any assistance and even went on to reject the proof of refund I provided them with after the merchant had repeatedly submitted it.
Sadly, I was left with no other option than to file a claim through my bank to get my money back. It's been such a headache and I am definitely advising others to steer clear of Afterpay.
The whole experience truly left a sour taste in my mouth. The fact that they won't give you a refund after an item has been returned is a major red flag. It was incredibly frustrating during a time when money is so scarce for so many.
Overall, my advice is to avoid Afterpay at all costs. Don't put yourself through unnecessary stress and financial loss because you chose to trust this less-than-stellar company.
Afterpay Review: Arbitrary Policies, Unreliable Rewards, and Limited Customer Support
As a loyal customer of Afterpay for over two years, I must say that the service they provide has left me with a bad aftertaste that I simply cannot ignore. Although they claim to offer numerous gold perks, the reality is quite different. One of the biggest issues I've had to deal with is their arbitrary seven-day payment policy. This practice creates unnecessary stress and is simply not something that one can count on when budgeting and planning their expenses.
Another area that is cause for concern is their spending limit policy. It's not uncommon for an Afterpay customer to wake up one day and find that their limit has been inexplicably cut by two-thirds. This can be incredibly frustrating and makes planning one's finances that much more challenging. To make matters worse, there's no easy way to contact their customer service team or speak with a representative to help you sort everything out.
Finally, the promise of reward points is yet another area where Afterpay falls short. Although they advertise this incentive as a valuable perk, in reality, it can end up negatively affecting your spending limits. This is a deceptive practice and one that is bound to ultimately disappoint customers who like the idea of being rewarded for their loyalty.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the overall convenience of Afterpay, the numerous issues I've encountered over the years make it difficult for me to recommend them wholeheartedly. If they could improve their communication channels, be more transparent about their policies, and deliver on their promises in a more reliable fashion, I would have a much more favorable impression of this service provider.
Buyer Beware: Stay Clear of Afterpay's Troubling Track Record
If you are in the market for a buy now, pay later service, we urge you to steer clear of Afterpay. The company has been involved in various legal battles, and their track record is a concerning one. It appears that even the slightest delay in payment can trigger a domino effect of issues. Customers have reported being sent to collections without any prior warning or notification.
In fact, the treatment of their customers has been so poor that some individuals have taken legal action against the company. According to reports, Afterpay ranks among the worst of all scammers out there.
At this point, we believe it is best to avoid dealing with Afterpay altogether. Regardless of how appealing their platform may seem, the risks are simply too high. So, if you are looking for an ethical and transparent buy now, pay later service, we suggest exploring other options and steering clear of Afterpay.
Negative Afterpay Experience: Hacked Account and Lack of Customer Support
When it comes to online shopping and purchases, payment options have become more varied and convenient than ever before. One such payment platform is Afterpay, which allows users to break down the cost of their purchases into interest-free installments.
However, one user had an unfortunate experience with Afterpay, leading them to share a negative review. After receiving a text message from what appeared to be Afterpay, their account was hacked and the details were changed without their authorization. Despite still having the user's personal information, Afterpay was unable to rectify the situation and restore the account.
The lack of efficient communication methods was a major issue for the user, as they were only able to contact Afterpay through email. This proved to be time-consuming and frustrating, as days went by before they received a response. In their review, the user expressed their dissatisfaction with the handling of their situation by Afterpay.
While this review raises valid concerns about the security and customer service of Afterpay, it's worth noting that every experience is subjective. It's crucial for consumers to do their own research and weigh the pros and cons before making any purchases using an online payment platform.
Concerns with Afterpay's Personal Information Request Policy
I want to share my experience with Afterpay, a popular online payment platform that has been gaining immense popularity. I've been using Afterpay for a few months now and it has made shopping so much more convenient with the option to split payments into four equal installments without any interest or fees. However, one day unexpectedly my account suddenly got frozen, and I was unable to use it for any purchases.
Feeling quite perplexed and concerned, I reached out to their customer support team to enquire about the issue. After explaining my situation, they requested me to provide them with a few documents via email, including a copy of my license or passport, and some bank statements.
The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and I couldn't help but feel skeptical about providing them with such personal and sensitive information. Moreover, the fact that they asked for it without any explanation made me feel worried about the safety of my identity and financial information.
It was evident to me that they were potentially collecting my information beyond what they required, given that I had never defaulted on any payment and have been consistently paying my installments on time using the same card details. It appeared to me that such an unusual request for information was an attempt at data mining, which could lead to identity theft.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the benefits of Afterpay, this experience has left me feeling uneasy about using it again. Hopefully, they will take more care regarding how and when they request personal information in the future.
