I do not recommend buying a spa cover from affordable spa covers, clearwater, florida. I am taking the time to write this review in hopes that I can help other unsuspecting shoppers avoid the horrible experience I had when ordering a spa cover from affordable spa covers. I shopped online and while their prices were comparable to other online spa cover companies, their customer service is appalling. It is virtually impossible to speak with them on the phone, as all of their calls go to an answering service; and your call will not be returned. So you are left with the only method of communication as email. While the website is convenient to place the order, the testimonial section of their website does not show actual dates, which should have been a clue, that these testimonials are fake. Ok…now for the details of my nightmare, having purchased a spa cover from affordable spa covers in clearwater, florida. I purchased a spa cover from with various upgrades on 10/10/18, for $370. The next day, 10/11/18, I received an email stating that I would have to pay an additional $35 to split the corners of the spa cover skirt. This was aggravating, since other online spa cover stores did not list an additional fee for this; however, since I had already placed the order, I moved forward and had them add this fee to my order (now the spa cover cost me $405.) long story short, affordable spa covers website states that your spa cover will be delivered in 3 ½ weeks, and, my spa cover was delivered in 8 weeks. Now…you need to know that at 3 weeks, I received an email with a tracking number, stating that the spa cover had shipped. When I went to the shipping website, and entered the tracking number it was not found. Long story short, several emails and five (5) days later they emailed me admitting that they had emailed me the wrong shipping number, and that the shipping company was unable to locate the spa cover. Thirteen days later, affordable spa covers stated that they would make me a new spa cover and ship it out next week. I started calling affordable spa covers feverishly, determined to speak with someone, and spoke with steve james, who was very rude, and told me that the shipping company looses the spa covers all the time, and that it was more than likely damaged. That I would have to wait for the shipping company to find the spa cover, and affordable spa covers would have to receive the damaged spa cover back from the shipping company, before they would make me another cover and ship it to me. Finally, after 8 weeks, my spa cover arrived; however, they shipped it the cheapest way (the shipper didn't even need to get a sign-off) by dropping the cover off at the address. Fortunately, since my life had been on hold for 2 months, awaiting the arrival of my spa cover, I had resigned myself to staying home and watching my driveway for a truck. Once I inspected the cover (no damages), I emailed affordable spa covers notifying them that it had arrived safely, and asked that they request a $50 credit to my account, because of affordable spa covers mistakes: emailing me the wrong tracking number, loosing the spa cover, having to wait till the shipping company shipped the damaged cover back to clearwater, florida, having to wait a total of 8 weeks for the spa cover to arrive, all at the mercy of the mistakes of affordabe spa covers and the shipping companies. Affordable spa covers response to my $50 credit request was "we have sent your request to customer service, however, since the shipping company is at fault, and we have to make you a new cover, my gut feeling is that they will reject your request". I have emailed affordable spa covers every week since 12/5/18 requesting a $50 credit and here is their final response dated 12/19/18: "if you want to talk to the shipping company you can. We did not lose or damage the cover, thei shipping company did those things. So feel free to contact them if you wish." and the person who sent me this reply did not have the decency to sign his name to the email.
If you check the better business bureau website : you will see the following red highlighted warning : pattern of complaints: bbb has received a pattern of complaints from consumers involving delivery issues alleging they are not receiving items ordered from the february 2015, bbb contacted affordable spa covers requesting information as to why the business believes the customers are filing the complaints, and what actions the business has taken to help eliminate the causes of complaints. As of today's date, bbb has not received a response.. I wish I had seen this warning before I placed my order. Also, there are plenty of websites that show complaints against affordable spa covers…. Just do a search on "affordable spa covers complaints" and you will see 304, 000 results (that's three hundred and four thousand websites referencing affordable spa covers complaints).
