I am extremely disappointed with Advocate Medical Group and their billing practices.
I made consistent efforts to pay my medical bill responsibly, including a $500 payment in January, with the intention of paying the remaining balance in February. Also, I did submit a financial assistance application that is still showing as "under review". However, without any warning, communication, or consultation, they sent my outstanding balance to collections. This came as a complete surprise, especially since the LiveWell portal was showing no remaining balance at the time.
I made several attempts to contact their office by phone to clarify the balance and make the final payment before it was sent to collections, but my calls either went unanswered or led to silence. It is extremely frustrating and unacceptable to be sent to collections when I was actively trying to resolve the remaining balance, and their own system did not reflect what was owed.
This experience reflects very poor billing transparency, lack of communication, and inadequate customer support. Patients who are making good-faith efforts to pay their bills deserve clear information and the opportunity to resolve balances before such drastic actions are taken.
I hope they review and improve their billing and communication processes so other patients do not have to deal with this same situation.
