The managers use scare tactics that I have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars if I back out. No one from ADT solar has installed anything in or on my house. On 11/25, SunPro Solar installed solar panels onto our house in northern Florida
On 11/25, SunPro Solar installed solar panels onto our house in northern Florida. SunPro is a subsidiary of The Pro Companies in Louisiana with offices in Florida. In early September we contacted SunPro and scheduled an in-home meeting with a representative. When we met with the SunPro sales representative on September 29, Brian Haynes, and he provided detailed information as to the benefits and costs of installing solar panels on our house. We chose to proceed with the purchase and installation of the recommended solar panels. The billed total was $45,198, payable over 12 years. The first payment was due on January 3. The salesman told me that the 30% Federal tax credit for installation of solar power, in our case $13,559.40, was available as a tax rebate that would be refunded to me when I filed my 2019 US Tax returns and that it could be used to pay the 14th month Incentive Payment of, in our case, $12,659.40 which is due on April 3. I was new to the process of purchasing a solar panel system and accepted the salesman's statement that it was going to be a cash rebate with my 2019 taxes. I have, since, learned that it is not a cash-in-hand rebate but only a tax credit that can be applied to any personal tax due beyond what had been withheld for that year and subsequent years until the total is reached. In my case this gives me nothing as my annual income is low enough that I have not owed any taxes for the past several years and can claim none of the 30% credit. Now I find myself facing an out of pocket $12,659.40 payment in April or the monthly payments will increase from $104.31 to $405.33 through to December 1, 2031. We have been paying $250 each month with the extra being applied to the owed principle but payments of $405.33 are not possible. Do I have any recourse for reimbursement of the promised amount, $13,559.40, either as cash or as credit applied to the loan debt, from either the company that employed the salesman, SunPro, of the loan company, Dividend Finance? Because I was misled by the sales representative of SunPro, do they have any obligation to make up the difference? I have digital copies of my notes taken at that meeting and I know that I had asked about the tax rebate and it was confirmed by the sales representative that we could get the lump sum as a tax refund for either personal use or to be applied to the loan amount.
