A.B.C. Ambato Boxers review: Bad Breeder 16

I have to say yes there are a lot of dogs, yes there is a lot going on at amatory boxers. When we visited I saw her home and all the dogs was inside… she is very loving to all the animals we choose our puppy took him home and had 11 wonderful years with him. I would take another boxer from her in a moment! Absolutely 100% purebred boxer met the mom! The father was from another breeder. Unfortunately he was killed by a car, they are a reputable breeder ask yourself if they are so horrible would you supply a male to them? Nothing said can change my mind about how loving and kind this woman Sofia is!

Sofia Haig aka Michelle Haig definitely is 100% owner of Ambato Boxers. Michelle Haid is her daughter who owns her own business in Mississauga. She is just using her daughter's name because of legal issues. This person is definitely a backyard breeder. She is not CKC registered as she advertises. She does not take her puppies to the vet for a check up before sending them off to their new homes. She does not know who the father is most times because all the dogs run together. Totally 100% backyard breeder and needs to be shutdown. BUYER BEWARE.

This is Sophia Haig- aka: Michelle Haig 100% owner operater of Ambato Boxers.
She is a backyard breeder in Wainfleet, On please do not puchase any puppies from her.

This Breeder should be shutdown...all she is considered about is production and money!. She is not CKC registered or does she get her puppies health checked. I have one of her dogs and I still have not received her CKC registration certificate after 6yrs.The health problems my girl has has is un believable but according to Sofia its never her fault because once the puppies leave her discusting so called kennel you are to blame for any illness. These illnesses my girl has would have been caught if she would have had a full puppy health check..ie:heart diseases or affecting conditions such as Aortic/Pulmonary Stenosis and or cardiomyopathy.
As far as I am concerned Ambato Boxer aka Sofia Haig, aka Micheele Haig is a backyard breeder and should be shutdown!

Allow me to share the thoughts of a very respected Ontario Breeder . I wish I had seen all of this before visiting and buying from A.B.C Ambato Boxers.

"Buying a new puppy from a CKC member-breeder gives you another layer of protection. Buying your new puppy from a member of a National Breed Organization, (eg. Boxer Club of Canada) gives another layer of protection - you may not get your money back but an official complaint is something that reputable breeders want to avoid! Buying a puppy with two written health guarantees is important - the first one should give you 3-5 days to take the puppy to a vet of your choosing and then GIVE YOU FULL MONEY BACK IF YOU BRING THE PUPPY BACK FOR ANY REASON. And the second guarantee should cover genetic disorders until the age of 2 with a replacement puppy or actual money."

NO ONE buys a puppy and then expects to spend even more money on vet bills or obtaining ownership. This has been my direct experience with the kennel and the experience of many others who have dealt with Ambato Boxers.I did not do my research and well here I am today. Out $4700.00. Readers, you may buy a dog from whomever you choose. I can only caution you to do your homework.

I purchased a sick puppy that I nursed back to good health
I I was informed my puppy will be coming with C.K.C papers prior to buying the dog and after I paid additional money to the kennel. I was informed that the paperwork would be received by year end (2015). It is now 2016. Ambato Boxer is claiming I am a crazy woman and that I stole the dog with a $2600 payment.

I encourage you to ask yourself if the this is the puppy buying experience you wish to have.

There are many, many reputable breeders in Ontario. Why would anyone purchase a dog from a breeder that has forums dedicated to what a poor breeder they are? $1500.00 is a lot of money to spend on a dog that is not de-wormed, vaccinated or screened by a vet for illness. If you can purchase your pet from a breeder that regularly tests their breeding stock, why wouldn't you?

Anything I have posted has been supported with date stamped emails. The telephone for the CKC was also supplied.

The fact that the kennel breeds, boston-terriers/poodle mixes/yorkie-poo/ and "purebreed" boxers that I and others have had issues obtaining C.K. C. registration for shouldn't be a concern?

Apparently, I am lying. Are ALL of these people lying too?

Hello, I am new to this Forum and just love all the pictures and topics. I have a one year old Boxer who is just a great Boxer and my first. Has anyone who has purchased a Boxer from Ambato Boxer actually received the registration papers after providing proof of Spade or Neuter for their dog? It is written in the contract for what it is worth. I am getting very frustrated at the excuses I am receiving. Having jumped into the purchase of my first Purebreed dog I must admit I fell in love with the puppy and just believed everything I was being told. Is this Breeder nothing but a fraud?:

I'm not either... a fan that is. We went out to check them out a couple months ago. In our personal opinion they are more of a puppy mill or back yard breeder and not very reputable. Then we did more research and have heard some not so nice things. I've heard about the papers thing from several people and it's not just this particular breeder either.

Fact: Why is your mother sending texts to what she thought was a potential puppy buyer stating that payments are to be sent to her? The mother. Accordingly to you she is only a volunteer and does rescue work. I contacted the Rescue Club for Boxers who has never heard of her or you.

Ambato Boxers is a not a breeder you want to buy your boxer puppy from. We went to Ambato boxers to look at a litter and I cannot express how disgusted I was. First of all when we drove to the property, I thought I had the wrong address and wanted to leave immediately. The property was filled with junk..broken chairs, stuffed animals and mannequins clothed and unclothed loitered the lawn. They have 20+ boxer dogs that are kept outside in caged sheds for breeding. The area where the keep the dogs was overflowing with feces. Junk furniture was also apparent in their dog pens and sheds. When we went into the house to look at the puppies, they were brought out in a blanket, all tattered, torn and wet. The home smelt terrible and their were other animals everywhere...parrot, boston terriers. The house was not clean and the breeder was extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend a puppy from this breeder. After reading other reviews you will find many others that have written bad reviews about Ambato boxers as well. Please research your breeder and make sure you ask all the right questions.

I would pass on them.. They seem to breed for quanity... IMO $1000.00 for an un health tested pup is pretty pricey ... If you do a search on google you will see that they have many classified ads and space on websites advertising the sale of puppies.

R Skelhorn** You are very lucky to have such a great experience with this breeder. I take it you never visited their facilty. If you did you would have run in the other direction. I have had several clientele visit them before ending up getting a puppy from us. They refuse to show the mothers of the puppies and when you ask to see the stud they will point into a large fenced in area and say its the brown one, mean while they are all fawn! lol If they sense you are not interested they will drastically reduce the price to try and get your sale.

Not a breeder I recommend at all.

Yeah, we visited Ambato when we were shopping for a boxer. It's puppy mill-ish.

Honestly, they were the first place we visited, and we were inexperienced dog owners, so while we were a little confused at first, we thought, "this must be the way dog breeders live." It's not. at least it's not like the other places we saw.

the other places we saw were clean, and when the breeder explains their breeding plans etc they made sense.

There is just something about Ambato that doesn't make sense. there seems to be multiple litters, they refer to the father as "that one over there ... which one? ... that one. ... I see ten dogs over there. which one? ... that one." You get the picture. it just doesn't add up.

Just taking a quick look through their page and it seems that they have way to many dogs... At least in the pictures... Which can be deceiving if they provide day care for their local pups! If you are in Ontario visit them... Trust your gut and ask for documentation... Also if twoisplenty is throwing a flag up listen...

On another note... they do have a few nice looking boxers... but they have some very clear deviations from the standard as well... One of the first things that i noticed just glancing... and i really mean just glancing through the pictures were the loose eyelids, off color haws and disproportionate skulls... I know that you can't always hit 100% with your pups but there are a lot of things popping out to me that just doesn't jive

Sadly, I have seen some sad results of purchasing from this breeder, and have also heard many horror stories. I am shocked that anyone purchases from there. I have had people tell me they wanted to buy the puppy because they felt bad for the pup... Something should, and needs to be done. It's heart breaking.

Thanks for your replies. Its always great to know I was not the only obe who experienced and saw horrible things.

I have contacted the Welland Animal Control/Humane Society and they are going to investigate further. Fingers crossed something is done because that is no place for dogs and puppies... It breaks my heart to have seen what was going on, however maybe a blessing in disguise..as I am trying to do what I can to help.

I have checked out their facebook page as well and I was taken back by what was being posted.. horrible things. Hopefully something is done sooner than later.

I live in the Hamilton area and they ALWAYS had ads for boxer pups. I too heard of someone who went to look at pups and got very bad vibes and was told they couldn't see the mother because she was busy nursing another litter - huh?

Just so you understand, Mr. Gibbs. There are eight people, including myself that purchased dogs that we believed would be CKC registered. She took payment for the dogs and to date have not delivered the paperwork. The findings of the CKC speaks for its-self. Her membership was terminated for breeding dogs that are not purebreed. I do not disagree that Sophia loves her dogs very much. However you can not do what she has done. If you feel otherwise that's fine. The only thing that Ambato Boxers is going to offer you is a dog and a lawsuite for defamation. What you posted here has been I believe proven to be quite untrue. I suggest you re-consider your comments they can easily be disproven through the emails from Sophia.

Receipt is acknowledged of your e-mail of August 22, 2016.

The Discipline Committee upheld the complaint against Sofia Haig for engaging in the breeding of dogs that are not purebred and acting or performing in a manner which may be deemed as contrary to the basic principles and Objects of the Club and/or contrary to the best interests of the Club by breeding dogs that are not purebred. As a result the Discipline Committee directed that Sophia Haig’s CKC membership be terminated for a period of three (3) years and assessed administrative costs in connection with the investigation and hearing of this complaint. Since no appeal was filed the membership termination commenced on August 9, 2016.

We bought our Boxer puppy from Ambato Boxer and had nothing but a pleasant experience when dealing with Sofia. She went out of her way to make sure the transaction was a smooth one. This Cate person Sofia speaks of is a piece of work! I drove out to her home to see the puppies as Sofia said that this was the only litter available at the time and this lady was using Tequila for the litter. I drove out to her place and no one was home but I was able to see through the sheers in the front room where the boxers were kept. What i saw was an absolute pig sty where the dogs were. Keeping in mind this was around December and the dogs were left in a room that was maybe 6 feet buy 5'. The litter of seven boxers had one small blanket to share and Tequila was lying on the ground shivering as she lay on the cold ceramic floor. I called Sofia from the house and explained what I was looking at, I went on to explain the room had feces and urine on the floor (no pee pads anywhere) and that the whole time I was there (approx. 25 min) one of the dogs laying on it's side hadn't moved once and I thought it was dead as the other puppies were jumping and crawling over the dog and it wasn't moving at all. Sofia told me that Cate said the dog wasn't doing well and Sofia had given her instruction two days prior on how to care for the dog. It was obvious that Cate did not follow through on the instruction. Furthermore Sofia asked if there was a heat lamp present in the room and I said there was none to be found and that it was crucial at this stage of the puppies in order to stay healthy. I took pictures of what I had seen and sent them to Sofia. This Cate person has the nerve to slam Sofia and say that she's a "bad Breeder" and doesn't know what she's doing. Hey Cate why don't you show us your license form C.K.C that says you are licensed to breed boxers. Your a piece of work!
