Not refunding deposit when didn’t have the merchandise
I had contacted them about a male Doberman puppy in August 2020. She told me to fill out an application, which I did. Sue Rochester at Blackjack Dobermans totally ripped us off. In January 2015, we submitted an application and she accepted a $500 deposit (which she cashed immediately) for a puppy from her dog Indi. She was supposed to breed Indi mid-year 2015. She ended up not breeding her and did not notify us that she decided not to breed her at that time. We had to reach out to her to learn that this did not happen. This should have been warning sign number 1. She finally did end up breeding Indi and had 7 females and 1 male puppy. It's a long story, but at the end, she sent us an email stating that she decided that she wasn't going to sell us the puppy and would send us back the money. I replied back to her to let her know that I was sorry to hear that, but gave her my address to send the money back to. I took the high road even after waiting 16 months for a puppy. After two weeks, we had not received the money, I reached back out to her via email asking about the money. She then replied that I was the one who turned down the puppy and was not going to return the $500 deposit back to us. I have very clear documentation that she is the one who declined to sell us the puppy. I have kept all the communications and documentation that shows she is the one who was not forthcoming and "shifty" in this whole ordeal. We still have not received the money and would love to hear from anyone that has experienced this same problem with her as I would love to bring it to the police and pursue criminal charges of fraud against her. For me, it's more about that principle of the matter then the $500.
