On June 22, 2021, I attempted to install a new Magic Jack at my church. I could not get it to give dial tone so I went online to magic jack for help. I logged on the mjreg.com for help as found in the instructions. I somehow got switched to a website called jack-phone.com. This page gave the number [protected]. I called for help and was told by a man calling himself AJ that the problem was that I did not sign up for a plan. He took my card information and billed me $139.99 for three years. He also asked me for a password to my Magic Jack, which I thought odd. The following day, I learned I only had 1 year and was unable to change my account from auto billing. I called the real Magic Jack billing and the lady said they never teach by phone and to report this to misrepresentationmagicjack.com. The tech on the phone had all my information in front of him it seemed and was able to convince me that he was legitimate. I truly believe someone has hacked into Magic Jack's computer system. This could possibly be happening from a fired employee with knowledge of Magic Jack and it could destroy the good reputation of Magic Jack. I have been a very satisfied Magic Jack user in my home since 2014 and would NEVER change.
Desired outcome: I want Magic Jack to be aware of an imposter and take step to prevent it from happening again to others. I am I the process of trying to get my money back through my banking institution and Pay Pal.
I have heard nothing from Magic Jack or from Complaints Board since my. complaint. What should I do now? I do need to call abroad and cannot. Moreover older people are not on WhatsApp, and I hate to try to add more money on the Magic Jack as It may well be posted to somebody else's phone number again.
The same thing happened to me. On Oct. 12 2020 i purchased Magic Jack and paid tor 10 years of service for 239.99. The rep said he was from Magic Solutions by Magic Jack. I paid through my debit card through PayPal. Now a year later Magic Jack says I need to renew my membership. They are not affiliated with Magic Solutions. Now PayPal says it is too late to file a dispute. BTW the rep was also AJ. I have phoned and emailed with the contact information on my receipt to no avail. My bank won't even investigate the claim as has been one year since the transaction.
