8/30/2023 approximately 11 pm, for approximately a week I have been trying to reset my Frontier email password. Frontier email is hosted by Yahoo. I have talked with Yahoo and Frontier support and explained the situation but neither could assist with a password change.

The reason my password needs to be reset is that someone has hacked my account and changed the password and associated telephone number. The bad actor stole $10,000 from one of my investment accounts. I found out that the email was part of the scheme from my financial institution.

When I click on "Forgot password" I get a message that the system is sending me an email with change instructions. This is a problem because I can't get into my email account to get the message. This process needs to be changed. The message allowing password changes should be directed to an alternate email account. I tried an alternate email account address hoping I could at least get the reset message. No luck.

Even though the technicians I talked to understood about the hacking, my financial loss, and my distress, there wasn't anything they could do because the reset process is totally automated now.

When I wanted to talk to the fraud department, without a service account, there wasn't any way to talk to them.

My complaint with Frontier is the password reset process and the lack of fraud detection and reporting.

My complaint with Yahoo is that they are not ensuring that the service they are hosting has adequate processes to prevent fraud and help the customer.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: I want to be able to regain control of my Frontier/Yahoo email account before any further financial loss.
