In early June, I called Woodys Lawn Sprinkler & Landscape to schedule an estimate for sprinkler repair. They didn't mention any fee for the visit. On June 17, two service techs came over and walked around my lawn, checking the control box. They didn't touch anything or turn anything on. After talking for about 10 minutes, they said the repair would cost $1,500 to $1,700. Then, the older tech told me, "Okay, now you need to give me $90 for today, but if you hire me, I'll waive the charge." I looked at them with confusion and simply asked them to send me a written estimate. They left.

On June 25, I received an email with an estimate for $2,100. I replied, saying that there must be an error because it was $500+ higher than what was quoted. On July 1, I received a voicemail stating that it would cost around $1,750 and asking to schedule the repair. Additionally, on July 1, I received an invoice via email for $90 for the estimate visit on June 17. I emailed them back, stating that I wouldn't pay as they couldn't charge me after the fact. I called it a deceptive business practice and asked them to delete the invoice from their system. More invoice emails and calls followed.

Finally, on September 30, I received a new invoice with a $108 late fee.

I had some repairs done to my sprinkler system by Woody's Lawn and Sprinkler, but unfortunately, they didn't properly communicate a crucial problem to me. The technician replaced a faulty FEBCO 765 Bronze FNPT 1-in Pressure Vacuum Breaker, but failed to mention that there were other issues downstream that needed fixing. I decided not to address those issues at the time, as I planned to overhaul the entire sprinkler system later on.

However, what the technician didn't tell me was that if proper precautions weren't taken, the vacuum breaker itself could freeze and rupture. And that's exactly what happened. Now, I have to replace it again. When I reached out to Woody's Lawn and Sprinkler about this issue, they informed me that the technician had noted all of this in his records, so they wouldn't be offering any repair or refund for the work. I was never informed about the potential for this failure, so I had no idea it would happen.

To make matters worse, I was stood up twice by Woody's team for scheduled service calls. I wasted my time waiting for them, only for them to never show up.

Woody's technician didn't show up for my sprinkler blowout appointment. I tried calling them, but their office closes at 3pm (before their appointment windows even end?). I left a negative review and got a really aggressive, false, and super off-putting response from the owner. They mistook me for another customer and accused me of lying. Here's a quote: "The problem *** was that I had problems on 2 earlier appointments. I called at 11 AM & NO ANSWER... I left a message letting you know that I was running behind. Please call or text to let me know if that would still work for you OR if we needed to reschedule.. I would be there about 12:30. You did NOT respond to me at all. Then I called & texted when I was on my way at 12:30. Asked you to respond again. No response until 12:48 when you said you would be home around 1:00. Unfortunately being I did not hear back from you. I proceeded to my next appointment. Our office is open 8 to 4 PM Mon thru Friday. So that is another false statement on your review. We immediately rescheduled your appointment yesterday afternoon for today. Not sure what you mean by you can't get ahold of our office when you are rescheduled yesterday ? To complete the service today. You're sprinkler turn off and blow out will be completed between noon and 4 today (Sat.) Moving forward I would say it would be best to part Ways and you can find somebody else to Service your sprinkler system. We appreciate your past business, We are truly sorry that it does not make sense to continue doing business together. We wish you the best moving forward.Sincerely,***" That response is just plain wrong, and it's even worse to treat a customer like this after not providing any service at all. If you check their other *** Reviews, *** has treated other customers the same way, being aggressive and unacceptable.

Homeowners called on 4/7 to set up an appointment for Woody's Lawn and Sprinkler to come fix our backflow preventer. When we set up the appointment for 4/9, we gave Woody's Lawn the model number for our backflow preventer and they told us they would come prepared with the materials to fix or replace it. This gave them two days to source the correct backflow preventor and materials. They sent an appointment confirmation email on 4/7, which only detailed a cancellation cost of $85. On the morning of 4/9, two service guys showed up and homeowner showed them the backflow preventer. They glanced at it, did not touch it, and said they did not have the materials to work on it and would have to come back later that afternoon to perform the work, even though they previously had the part number for the materials. Later that afternoon they called homeowner and said they could not make it back out since they could not get the materials and ran out of time on other jobs that day. They asked us to call and set up an appointment if we wanted them to come out Monday. We needed our sprinklers fixed before Sunday/Monday because of the upcoming snow so we could re-drain the lines. Therefore we had the backflow preventer replaced without the support of Woody's Lawn on Saturday, and we did not set up a new appointment with Woody's. Woody's lawn sent us a $90 bill for a "Service Call" for the unprepared visit on 4/9. They were supposed to arrive prepared and with the materials to fix the sprinkler with 1 hour of time dedicated on Thursday, 4/9, and they had all the model numbers ahead of time to do so. They arrived empty handed, did not gather any new information and left very quickly to work on another job. They called that afternoon when they did not return to tell us they did not have time to return until Monday, as they also did not have the materials and ran out of time on other jobs. They did not have the time to dedicate Thursday to supporting us in any service or repair. Since they had the information upfront needed to prepare they materials, provided us no service or repair, and did not have the time to return due to other clients, we do not believe they should have charged us for a service charge. Their confirmation email for the appointment also does not state a $90 service charge per visit. Their website does state a $90 sprinkler service/repair charge for the first 30 minutes of work, however no work was performed. If Woody’s did not have the materials or the time to support us Thursday, they should not have come to our house just to inadvertently charge us.
