Web sight design warning scam

I did not sign up for the wix.com website. I was sent an email if I was. They try and suck you in by creating a login for you and you get a welcome email. Well I new I did not sign up for wix. I went to the sight to see if someone stole a credit card but no info other than my emai laddress and a login name I never would have created. What a deceiving thing.
Sincerly
Angry internet user!

Wow, just read through all the complaints. 99% bad reviews and about 1% ok? I have been with them for four years, and am now trying to get in touch with them via phone or their site: wix.com/contact, but with no avail. I don't want to believe what I am reading above, but it does seem that they were very quick to grab my upgrade credit card payment, to "Premium", but very slow to give me any help. My website: paulsfalls.com is down and I have no help getting it back up, and they are the host for my site. The wixs number: [protected] simply gives you a menu in English, then Spanish, then Japanese, then directs you to the wix.com/contact site and hangs up? What do we do? Paul,

I set up a website www.noglamtravel.com on Wix.com about 1 year ago. Apparently I had agreed for the auto-renroll, and in July I was charged $298.00 for renewal. I called the company - or actually emailed them - because under "Contact Support" there is no phone number given, you agree for the company to call you. I spoke with Michael Sam - a WIx Agent - and he said he would submit request for the refund and it should go back into my account in 7-10 business days. He also sent me instructions on how to deactivate my account. I followed the instructions and every time I selected "Are you sure you want to deactivate" I would push "Yes" and then get an error message. I thought maybe I had to wait until the refund was issued before I could do that - it wasn't really clear. I waited and waited - and no refund ever came to my account from Wix. I contacted Wix support today and spoke with Dominique (or actually she called me - upon my request through their website). According to her - Wix has not "approved" refund yet and they have until this coming Thursday to review the request, and if it gets approved, I might get my refund back. And I can't deactivate my account until the refund is issued. I argued that I don't understand how they can approve or disapprove a request for a refund. I have asked that the services be cancelled, they are no longer providing a service, and therefore I am no longer expected to pay for a service I am not receiving. We just went around and around on this issue. I believe they have no intention of issuing a refund.
Above is the statement I issued in a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission.
I suspect I will have to go through my bank to get these charges reversed.

Scam. Zero star.
I was unhappy because links appeared, at some point after my site went live, that led directly to WIX advertisements. So I contacted customer service, which is no easy task. They denied any wrong doing, but I know there was no link to advertise for them on my site when launched. I felt totally scammed and embarrassed that any of my potential clients would only find WIX links when looking for my service.
They are unwilling to budge on the "policy" of no refunds, not even a prorated one, which I thought was a more than fair compromise. Any other company that has a yearly subscription would be willing to prorate with an unhappy customer. WHAT A SCAM/MONEY GRAB. So after the 2 week trial period you need to monitor you website for any WIX takeover but by then its too late for a refund. I feel like I paid them to advertise their business through me, too much for a one person business to bear.
I am absolutely repulsed.

I went with Wix to create a simple 10-page capstone project that was required for my Humanities Across the Arts course. Upon creating my account Wix saw greatness in my online money making potential with their ignorant banner ads like this is still the late 90s, offering an effective online business platform that could help me make me six figures with the purchase of a premium membership.

Let me back up a little bit here. As we were approaching the projects due date, my professor sends an email to the class with an additional requirement: A comments section somewhere on the site that DID NOT request the email of the commenter. He just wanted the 'name' and 'comment' fields, which was simple enough right? Unfortunately, you can't edit or remove fields from the comments page with a free Wix membership. So having already completed the site when my teacher demanded a comments section, I wasn't going to start over with a different host. And believe it or not, I willingly chose to click on one of those banner ads floating at the top of my screen, which was specifically advertising "premium membership, 7 days free, cancel anytime." You know what I'm talking about.

Since I didn't plan on indexing the site in search engines or attempting to directly make money with it in any way, I was not going to pay for it. 7 days was long enough to submit my capstone project and receive a passing grade. So, sure enough, I found myself in the cringe-worthy process of inputting my card credentials just so I could remove the dadgum 'email' field from the comments section. I confirmed my order with a slight smirk on my face, thinking I was about to cheat the system and ace this project quickly and cost-effectively, but Wix had other plans for me. It came in the form of a VIP First Priority full year premium membership for $348 immediately charged to my card and 0 days of free premium access. And it just so happens, no refund is available for that particular subscription. Thanks Wix. I still haven't seen those six figures you were talking about but I did get the stupid email field removed.

WIX IS A TOTAL SCAM! I subscribed their premium plan for years and I wanted to terminate the subscription. But every year Wix.com still automatically charge from my card! Even WORSE, there was no notification every time they charged me, I only know they charged me when I saw my credit card statement! Which is way over their not-so-graceful "Grace refund period". The WORST part is, I requested a refund and this is my second year already, THEY REJECTED EVERYTIME NO MATTER WHAT! They don't even care to provide a reason! I am thinking if I should terminate my credit card as well!

Gone for Wix, looked promising.
Loading time is just too poor long. And the website doesn't have more than three pages, simple.
Asked them... Cut down images. Took some off not even cut.
No change.
Offline often.

Just too expensive for services going back a decade ago.

Go elsewhere. Never even try

By the way... Don't get Ur domain from Wix if you will ever try. Will be stuck there too.

Pissed off internet user.

I have a charge on my account from wix.com, but I have never approached them for anything ever.
I strongly think they hacked through a wix.com built site and pulled info from there and charged my account.
The thing is I never use this account for anything but government deposits.
So there is no other withdrawls from that particular account. (transfer only) withing the bank system.
Fraud department at td canada trust is investigating.
Its not a credit card but a bank account.
This would mean that even shopping on a wix web page is dangerous.
They could infact steal your info from and of there sites.
Now I have to get the account number and my debit card change to ensure they don't take my money from my account again.
Beware protect yourself.

I am layman simply trying to build a website. Initially, WIX seemed like it would work. However, after I bought the domain and the hosting, I was then informed that e-mail was separate and I had to pay an additional USD 50.00 per mailbox for a one year period. Another page popped up and I needed to pay additional for something else. The issue I have with WIX is that the company is deceptive and did not provide me with the opportunity to "really" see visually what I needed to buy to get up and running in advance of buying. WIX made it so that it captured your credit card information first and then step by step kept informing you of services you would need charging you in each step. I cancelled after the first two steps; sent them an e-mail about how deceptive they were, and am waiting for my refund. Well, you guessed it, I have had to reach to them twice spending an hour each time tracking down the info and waiting to speak to someone to again cancel my initial account not to mention all the e-mails I am getting from them. After 16 days, I finally received notification they are refunding the website fees but charging me for the domain fee. So a lot of what has been listed is substantiated so I agree with the comments based on personal experience.

I have been a victimn of a scam from Wix.com only last night, someone called Jorge from Tech support downloaded remote assist on my PC to try and resolve technical issues which had nothing to do with my PC but a problem on their end, Jorge in tech support went through all my personal letters and bank details saved on my PC, stealing information to try and steal money from my bank account using remote assist, and other IDs I saved on my PC. I am really angry. I have sent Wix.com emails about this but I received no reply and there is no management contact or complaints procedure to follow this up. Wix.com are a very dishonest company with criminals working in their tech support team trying to steal people's private information, bank details to steal money from their customer accounts.

Wix charged my credit card now with more than $150 . How did they get hold of my card details? my bank said that they'll open a fraud case and they'll refund me the money in the next week after I send them a sworn affidavit which I will obviously do. Hope somebody shuts down this wix.com scam.

To update my case. My bank said they'll refund me bc it looks like it was an external person that stole my credit card details, and not wix.com. However, wix didnt respond to my email so I hope they refund my bank, & that they dont let credit card thieves get away with purchasing at their site.

DO NOT USE SITEBUILDER either. They totally lie about how many templates they have. They claim thousands. They barely have 100. Customer service is useless. Constant glitches and technical problems, which they refuse to fix. And the second you sign up for a website, they sell your information and you get bombarded with spam and robo calls 24/7. When I asked them about it, they openly admitted to selling my information and they said if I wanted my information removed from their public lists, I would have to pay them more money. Total scam. I also saw a ton of complaints on BBB for so many of these scammy website companies, like hostgator, wix, squarespace, etc. I honestly don't know how to find one you can trust.

WIX.com needs to inform people that they are not a completely free site. It's a misleading representation and this tactic should not be used. (Especially for a company running advertisements on multiple television channels, social media and live streaming sites such as hulu and YouTube. If something has a price then STATE that it has a price... Freemium is not free. Anyone who uses this needs to do a bit more research and move on. DO NOT WAISTE A CHUNK OF YOUR ANNUAL INCOME ON A MEDIOCRE WEB DESIGN SITE SUCH AS THIS.

This is nothing but a rip off. Please beware. You make a site and then if you don't upgrade within a few weeks your site disappears. I'm turning them into the BBB and making as many complaints as possible against them. Don't be fooled, they allow you to build a beautiful site and then it is gone. I'm going to go after them for all of the money I put into posters mentioning my (domain) they gave me. They will be out a great deal of money. I'm retired so I have nothing better to do than ruin them for good.

First - no support. Literally. When you have problems, no answer or simple answer "go to topic number so and so on the forum". So as usually, Users have to help users, no staff really involved. On the phone rude and unpatient, like they were not working but someone punished them to answer the phones of clients who actually pay their wages.

Second - AND MOST IMPORTANT! - never, ever use these people to get GMail thru them! Go directly to Google, they are respectable company. With WIX I opened four mailboxes almost 1.5 years ago. I have cancelled one 13months ago, the other one I closed 2 months ago when I noticed that they were still charging me for the not existing one. Since then I am having "lovely" conversation with them for the last two and a half months! My mailboxes are still on, the cancelled ones too. They still are charging us, refusing a refund, there is always something that stops them. We tried not to pay them for a moment, something that we don't normally do but this time we hoped it might help - we got the quick answer that we will get our two mailboxes closed and money refunded once we will pay. We paid off hoping it will resolve the issue. Nope! Four mailboxes are still on, they still charge us for all four, nothing, like a solid rock! Thick as custard! Never ever use these people and their so called "services"!

I think wix.com is deceptive in the following ways: 1. the 'free' site has ads 2. upgrading to "Premium" means no ads but $150 a year just for a site with no email account or analytics is absurd. 3. I got the 1st year for $75 as a "deal", but when billing you for the second year, I was not sent an invoice, just a reminder that my credit card needed updating, then as soon as you update that, they take $150. You should get a reminder of the price. 4. Most of all, I've called their support line several times over the year, and they were surly, rude, impatient, and just wanted to get you off the phone. I hate Wix! BEWARE!

I have an account with WIX, and I am upset that there is no easy way to connect to support! You have to go the support center, then specify what your issue is then going to this step and try this? Around in circles, but WIX will process your credit card payment with entering a maze! Every single night my site dies a slow and agonizing long and drawn out death. The site freezes and crashes and every action I try to take is like running is sand. My site loads sluggish and choppy, and the sad thing of it all is that the concept and tools are easy to learn and there are a lot of tools available to create brilliant sites - too bad no one cares about customer support or maintaining a consist source of support for websites during evening hours. I am so furious. I am trying to build my small business with very little capital, and I have almost no computer or design knowledge. I spend all my days providing service to my customers and the only time I have to work on my website is the late night, and I cannot get anything done!

When I last tried to change my background image, save and publish it, the preview page displayed the results. But when I returned to my blog's edit page and clicked preview, the original background appeared. After waiting for weeks for replies and help from the support staff (24/7?) to resolve this issue and getting no response, I decided to delete the website. Now I'm back on Free until the Premium account expires in June 2018. Not that I plan to renew it. I'm gone for good. Doing fine at Word Press. Great support - within 24 hours and live chat, too.

I had two web sites created using WIX.com. One of my sites is ForestRidgeToyPoodles.com and the other I am currently working on. I will probably develop a third site that will be store front shop with Wix eventually. You can develop great web sites using this site. You can create a web site that is dynamic and not static as most are, thus making your site much more interesting and desirable. It is also one of the few on-line site generators that provide telephone support.
Some people think that web site generators on-line or off-line will instantly open the flood gates and they will get thousands of hits - but for real - it takes YOU doing some work to get attention to your site. So if you are one who will not put in the work to advertise your site, such as on social networks for example, then don't put up any site. I would recommend one using WIX to create a site be a bit savy with web development - that would help in creating a better site - but that knowledge is NOT a must, you can still develop a wonder site .
I recommend one take a look and see for themselves. You can try it for free and thus play around to see if it is for you. If you want to have your own domain, then there is a small $ to be paid.
