Wakefield & Associates review: Shady buisness practices

I was seen at University of Tennessee hospital on 5/1/2024
On 9/4/2025 in noticed that Wakefield and Associates had put a $675 Collections account on my credit report from a past due bill at UTH. I called and spoke to "Marissa" at UT billing where she informed me that i had an outstanding balance. She further explained that UT billing had sent me the first request for payment in February 2025. Having waited 9 months to send me the first request for payment and then selling the account to Wakefield and associates (who then, without even trying to contact me through mail, email, phone call, etc. put a collection on my credit report. I paid the full $675 the morning I noticed this on my credit report. This is just a shady way to conduct business for both of these companies.
