I was at clove swissotel for company christmas dinner and 1 of the service staff gave us a card with his name written and a qr code to scan for us to feedback on his service. My boss obliged however his phone has some issue hence I use my phone to scan the qr code and it lead me to a site that require me to key in my mobile number and I did thinking that with such a reputable hotel restaurant, giving feedback should be safe and immediately after that it generated a code and it went into this vedetv site and also I received a sms indicating that I had subscribed to their site and was charged $10/week. And seeing that, I quickly click on the unsubscribed link to cancel this subscription. This site is a tv drama/ movie site. I was shocked, so my boss and I quickly notified the restaurant manager and he claimed there is no such issue that had happened before after he went into their office and came out. I believed their server could have been hacked into or the restaurant manager knew something not right and restart their server etc. As when he used his phone to scan, the survey site look different from his phone. The manager had returned $10 to me however I am worried that more details has been stolen as a result. I have made police report already. And will complain to singtel too.
