I have recently taken my vehicle to a local Toyota dealership for some maintenance. The next day I went on a 1000-mile trip with my spouse and son. About 8hrs into the trip I had 5 out of 6 lug nut studs break and come off the front passenger side wheel. The only thing that prevented me from having an accident was the fact that I pulled over before the last stud broke. Which did break shortly after when I was moving it to an area off the road for repairs. I ended up repairing this issue on the road with help of some town officials of the town I broke down in.
On the return trip I also experienced a break down but this time it was my engine and not something I could not repair on the road and ended up being towed home for approx. 170 miles.
On my return home I went to the local Toyota dealer and presented them with the issues in hopes that they would make it right and own up to mistakes being made. But unfortunately, they didn't and after preforming an "investigation" refunded me for the service I paid for prior to taking the trip because according to the service manager the service was not performed.
At this point I am stuck without my primary vehicle. My family vacation was ruined, and the local Toyota is not willing to make it right.
I understand that you don't want to spend money on things you're not responsible for, but my vehicle ran perfectly before I took it in and paid for a service that appears to not have been done. Which begs the question of what was done?
I am thankful that I pulled over before the final stud broke and I had an accident that they would be held responsible for. And which would have been a much bigger issue with 3 lives at stake.
For years I've recommended and preferred Toyota made vehicles over the competition but this incident changes that for me and many of my close family/friends.
Desired outcome: Fix my vehicle.
