Safeway - prime rib price

My husband is retired and I am disabled. We decided last year as we have a limited income to not buy gifts for our 4 children, their spouses and our 7 grandchildren but to provide them with a Prime Rib dinner. Last year we purchased our prime rib from Safeway and we got an excellent deal and a fantastic product. Thinking we would continue this tradition right after Thanksgiving I called Safeway and other stores seeing if they had any idea of what their Holiday Price would be for prime rib. Only one store knew what they would be charging. The Safeway meat department said it would be equal to last year, 2012. We went ahead and put in an order for a 12 lb. Prime Rib. As it got closer to Christmas I checked the ads for price per pound of prime rib. Garguiles Red Apple on Perry Avenue offered it for $5.99 per pound. WOW ... I got the Safeway meat department on McWilliams Road in Bremerton, the Safeway I had order our prime rib from to check on their price. I did this on December 20th. I was told that my prime rib would be $5.99 per pound, same as the Red Apple. Great I decided to continue with our order. Being disabled I sent my daughter, who is a disabled veteran to Safeway to pick it up. I gave her the $72.00 I thought I would be paying. I did not know until late last night that she had to pay $106.00 for the prime rib, that was including the Safeway card discount. They lied to me big time. My daughter didn't want to tell me because she knew I would be upset. I had to pay her back the difference and it hurts ... No money coming in until the 8th of January. We could definitely use the difference in price. This is so wrong especially since I made every effort to make sure I was getting the $5.99 price per lb. I wish I had purchased my prime rib at Garguiles and will from now on. SAFEWAY lied ... Bobbie Pratt - [protected]@gmail.com
