AMC Theatres - Sexual Harassment

My GM walked over to me while I was unaware and positioned himself with his crotch in my face, I notice shoes standing near me and look up and his clothed genitalia was inches within in my face. Shocked, I asked what he was doing and he says I just wanted to see what you would do. This is after being repeatedly asked if I was “dirty minded”. then told, “I believe you are dirty minded”. The GM repeatedly invaded my personal space positioning his face inches away from mine, in what felt like an attempt to kiss me, making me visibly uncomfortable, I asked why he was doing this he stated again he just wanted to see what I would do. This behavior would happen every time we were alone. He would ask me, “what would happen if I turned off these security cameras right now?” This would happen every time we were alone, it came to the point that I actively started avoiding him. The GM had guaranteed the position I was currently serving in was safe and that making me interview for the position that I was successfully performing as for weeks was just a technicality.. Being a rape survivor I started worrying about. being alone with him and started experiencing PTSD. from the harassment. I started actively avoiding him and his attitude towards me changed immediately. My hours cut and was also told I would have to re-interview for the position I was successfully performing in for months. The harassment had profound effects on my mental and physical health. My job performance started to suffer and I knew, if I went back to laughing off the constant sexual innuendos and advances that I would of been back in good graces. I then recieivex an email from HR saying the company had decided to go in another direction. I am 47 yrs old and I have been in management and leadership positions since I was 19. The GM then told me that the DO believed I was not yet ready for management. I was astounded, I had enrolled into a HR course, I had successfully increased employee morale, was training concession crew on up-selling, returned trust in the workplace, coordinated a large theater wide deep clean including bathrooms and concession, organized and updated employee files which had been neglected, I cleaned and organized the safe office, I organized the storage room, organized and cleaned box office, customers commented on the positive changes in crew and theater since my arrival, I was coordinating with a state agency to join a program that would have us hire people with disabilities creating community engagement and living up to AMC’s mission statement. Customers consistently commented about me being the only adult in the room. I couldn’t believe I was being told me, a someone with 23 yrs experience in retail management was not ready for management. Yet, they had two other employees in management positions that was 22 and 18 with this being their first job yet I was not ready for a management position. I was being increasingly isolated at work. The GM then told me he held no value in education for this position, that he preferred to hire young people as he could shape them. I was never told that someone else was hired for my former position, someone with less experience and education and no experience in theater. I was shocked. I was then training a new hire who told me that she was guaranteed my position and they had her come in off schedule cause they believed I would walk out. I had been retaliated against for not entertaining the sexual advances. I had been bullied and isolated, ostracized after bringing ethical issues and even fraud. Last but not least after filing an ethics complaint, AMC believed the male GM’s word over mine and said they had no finding of sexual harassment. They kept in place the managers that had committed theft, fraud, routinely fudged paperwork, damaged company property. Was operating -$800,00, I was astounded. I have decided that being a 47 yr old rape survivor that is time to take a stand. I will not stop till this offense has been rectified.

Claimed loss: Loss of position, income, health insurance

Desired outcome: A year of my pay as my former position and accountability for the GM and Manager
