To whom it may concern:
I would like to share my most recent experience with Banfield and why I hesitate visiting your hospital again or recommending it to friends and family. I am deeply hurt and disturbed by the way one of your employees at the Crawford Hospital in Garden City Park, New York treated me on the phone.
Just to give you some background information about my pet and me. Bamba has been a patient for over 7 years. I put my trust and confidence in the medical staff as well as the operating staff. Whenever I call to make an appointment, the message while I am on hold says, we care about your pet. On October 11th, I did not feel that way when Maria raised her voice at me, spoke over me, did not let me talk, and then hung up on me, all the while I have been in distress over my dog's illness. Her hostility and disrespectful behavior in dominating the conversation, literally broke me down. I never expected hospital staff to behave in such a manner in a time of distress.
On October 11th, I was set to leave my house for an appointment when I got a call from Maria at around 11:40 AM telling me the doctor will not be here for my 12:00 PM appointment. This is the second time within a 3 week period that I scheduled an appointment with the doctor and she was not there. My dog has gone through a lot and so have we. From a biopsy of a tumor on her ear with a preparation for surgery to discovering that her lymph nodes are swollen throughout her body, indicating that she most probably has cancer. When a cytology exam was performed, extracting fluid from three places under her neck, I received a call from a doctor telling me that it was inconclusive and needed to be repeated. That day, they were going to repeat the exam so that we could know what was wrong with her and how to proceed forward. While on the phone, I was upset because I had waited 12 days to see this doctor. Maria, who should be trained to speak to people on the phone, was extremely rude, loud, inconsiderate, and callous, and then ended up hanging up on me.
Distraught and extremely upset, I pulled over and broke down in tears. I was concerned about my dog's health and could not believe that staff and the health care provider's office could behave that way and be so insensitive to a patient and pet.
For now, I am seeking another place that could help save my dog's life.
