This is covid-19 mask related. I request this be sent to wf, ds management, as I may also advise amazon of this unfortunate incident.
I am 79 years of age and am an ethnic cleansing survivor. I am a naturalized usa citizen since 1960. This great country has given me all I have, and I am very grateful for it.
On or about aug 26, 2020, I went to the wf, ds market and upon entering placed a covid-19 mask on my face. A few minutes after I entered the store, I was confronted by a young lady (the store manager) who was instantly rude with an air of superiority, arrogance and power (not at all like a team leader) and I was commanded to move the mask up over my nose. I asked her, and who are you? She said she was the store manager. I asked her what if I choose not to do that. She said — then you must leave the store and shop somewhere else. I said well I don't think I really have to do that. She said yes you do, we do not want you as a customer if you don't do that. She did not ask if I had a reason to not pull the mask over my nose. It was an overt demand. Hey, I know what gestapo tactics are. This seemed like gestapo tactics to me... It's analogous to demanding a nazi salute or else. The masks whole foods distributes at the entrance are a good gesture, but they are not effective and do little to stop the spread, which means they are symbolic, not effective (n95's are effective}.
To be commanded to pull these ineffective masks, that already fully cover the mouth, also over the nose is a political demand for obedience and not a request for virus protection.
I did pull the mask over the nose, but I must tell you, I regret doing that. I feel like I have soiled myself to comply. Wf'ds should not take political sides. I have been a loyal whole foods shopper since the early 1990's. Just last year shopped at wf, ds in oklahoma city, tulsa, mckinney, plano, austin, sanantonio, and I have placed more than 52 orders on amazon this year. I hope this insult was not a reflection of whole foods policy, but rather that of an ignorant and politically far left activist employee.
I do not want nor will I accept an apology from this employee, but it would be nice to know that whole foods, as a company, tries to avoid this type of behavior and attempts as best it can to stay a-political, as a business, serving all americans regardless of the political views that may have.
Sincerely:
