My husband and I have belonged to Planet Fitness, in Rochester, NH for 10+ years now. We are both senior citizens with compromised immune systems. Due to the Pandemic this last year we were advised to stay at home as much as possible. We were not able to do our own grocery shopping or have in-person doctors visits, we did not see our children, grandchildren or friends as we and the rest of the world stayed safe.
Because of our age and health issues we have been fortunate enough to receive both our COVID-19 shots and looked forward to so many things including returning to our gym.
Imagine our shock and surprise when we went yesterday to learn that not only our membership had expired, but also we were no longer entitled to our continuous renewal membership fee of $99. Instead, we were told that we could now join the remainder of the year for $79, but in January we would be charged $159 each for the year. When asked about continuing our membership for the usual $99, we were told we had let our membership expire and were no longer eligible.
I find it disheartening and sad that people were taken advantage of during a pandemic. We did not receive an e-mail informing us of this change or that our membership had expired. The change in price is giving us pause on rejoining. Not only are we on a fixed income, but feel taken advantage of during a terrible time world over.
I have read that many people have dropped their PF membership and I understand why. Unfortunately, you may be adding two more to that ever-growing list.

Desired outcome: continuing our membership at usual price
