I make a purchase of Christmas gifts for my great grandchildren. The gifts included: Coats, PJ, Jogging suits for boys, girls legging, etc. I was wrapping the gifts and realized one pant in the jogging suit was to narrow for a boy (red/white and blue). I went back to the store to return girls legging that were too small and one boys jogging suit $16.99. I purchased the item from the boys department. When I returned the item; I was told that I did not purchase it on that receipt. I explained that the supervior Eva had handled my transaction earlier that day."I was told this is a girls item it's not on your receipt, so you did not purchase it." After I objected the Associates offered to give me in store credit. I refused because I paid cash that came right out of my bank account.
She called the evening Supervisor Pat and I tried to explain to that Eve may not have charged me or used a different number. I explained that I would go home and check all of my tickets for another $16.99 item. I only recalled one pair of red PJ's. I said, "If I was not charged for them I would leave them. I told her that woud go home and check and come back. She told me that she would be in tomorrow at 11:30 AM, but she took my item and did not write anything down to allow me to follow-up. She did not make any note of the item number or price.
I felt disrepected and mistreated. First off she could have followed up with Eva on the transaction rather then calling me a liar to my face. For her to assume that I had a third $16.99 item at home she was accusing me of stealing. I have made purchased in the past where the Associate has use a different skin number on an item. Further Pat said, while I was standing there to the Assoiates "We will return it under another item and she will not be able to return that item if she needs to. Again accusing me of lying and trying to get me out of the store. I Enjoy shopping at Burlingtons. However, I will reconsider shopping at Burlington in the future; if the staff assumes that everyone is a thief.
I did go home and doubt checked my items and I only have one $16.99 item, which are red PJs. I will return to the store tomorrow 12/20/2019 with all of the tickets to confirm that I have no other $16.99 item. If I feel like I am on trial. I will gather all of my items all $249.00 minus the $16. 99 that Pay kept and get my money back.
Thank you in advance for addressing this issues. Associates do make coding errors when they ring items. Therefore, they should be more open minded. I am being inconvenienced by having to go to the store a third time.
