On 2/17/22 at 2:45 PM a friend stopped at Culver's to order some lunch for me: a cod sandwich; medium fries; a side salad w/ vinaigrette and a dish of chocolate custard.
She then delivered the order to me. I live about 10 minutes away from the restaurant. I received everything in the order except the medium fries, for which, of course, I had been charged.
When I called the restaurant to report the error, the manager, a very young-sounding man, was very curt with me. He apologized for the missing fries and told me that he could send me a coupon for them. I told him that I thought that was the least he could do, since he was only offering to replace with a coupon the fries that I had already paid for but did not receive due to the South Haven Culver's poor service.
He then raised his voice, said he didn't know what I expected him to do, he had offered to mail a coupon for the missing fries, and then said I could come back to the restaurant for them. I said that wasn't possible and asked his name. He replied Matthew. I asked for his last name, please. He refused to give it. I then told him I would contact the head office.
No one in a service industry, certainly not a manager, should lose their temper with a customer. Period.
I'm lodging this complaint here because when I called the 618 area code number and left a message about the complaint, I did not get a response — so customer service at Culver's seems shaky at both the local and corporate level.
Desired outcome: I do want a coupon for the missing medium-size fries.Matthew needs some serious retraining. Why don't you send him over to McDonald's? They manage to train their people to handle complaints politely.
