Home Depot - Customer "service" and misinformation on computer

I went to the Home Depot on Riverside in Portland, Maine yesterday, looking for a tall, thin metal gate for my fence. The Riverside store didn't have one in stock, but a very congenial and helpful young man* saw that there was a six-foot-tall fence at the South Portland Store. I got back in my car, drove to South Portland, and saw that they had put the gate aside for me. But... it was the wrong gate. NOT the 6' tall gate the Riverside store's computer assurred me was in South Portland.

COMPLAINT #1: The computer had misinformation that caused me to go on a wild goose chase. Which leads to the majority of my issues.

When I saw the gate they'd put aside for me was not the right size, the customer"service" man told me it could be used as a 4' high fence OR turned to become 4' wide fence. It seemed wrong, since the packaging did not mention this option. (The gate is by Everbilt... the box says "expands to openings 30" to 72"wide.) I should have trusted my thinking and the packaging, but I chose to trust a sales person who seemed confident in his misinformation.

The customer"service"man then led me to aluminum posts and suggested I get two that were 8' long. I kept saying it didn't seem like this gate could be 8' tall, but I decided to trust his word since he was a"professional."I told him I'd go get the posts, thinking he would follow me and help. He did not. I carried the posts, which were pretty heavy and a challenge to balance, and the caps.

Again, in spite of my gut feeling, I bought the gate, the posts, and the caps. In total, they cost $156 even.

The same customer"service" man pushed a cart toward me. I paid my $156.00 dollars. And I assumed one of the men at the desk would offer to help me bring everything to the car. They did not. I wrestled it by myself. I am seventy years old.

I was not treated with respect.

I was not offered help with carrying and loading the product.

I was led astray regarding the product I needed.

I paid $156 for something I can't use.

* I think his name was Jason and he should get a raise.

Desired outcome: 1: a refund. 2: store pick up wrong gate so I don't have to lug it AGAIN. 2: deliver the CORRECT gate ... 3: considering all the hassels I've been put through, I'd like the gate to be free of charge.
