I purchased a new Englander Pellet stove in Fall 2009 from Lowes. It worked fine for the heating season [protected] and then the beginning of this season [protected]. Suddenly, nothing worked. When talking to the technician at Englander Stoves, he concluded the control panel was no good. The replacement part was over $200 and they were offering a discount to me - I refused since it is my feeling that a control panel should last for more than 7 months of heating season. Of course they have a 1 year guarantee (which is actually 4-5 months since the stove is not in use most of the year). The part is made by the supplier EDM.
Do not purchase a stove from this company since service is not good and parts are not reliable. If you are looking for a $1000 + investment for a pellet stove that lasts 7 months, then Englander is the stove for you. Unfortunately, $1000 can still by a lot of heating oil.
BTW: president of England' Stove Works, Inc. is Carroll Hudson, President/CEO; Monroe VA 24574 - I am sure he would enjoy hearing from his other happy customers (so would Lowes).

I too unfortunately bought an Englander pellet stove. They are useless pieces of crap. They break down constantly and customer service is always busy because the parts are so poorly made they get nothing but angry people on the phone all day. The parts are made to last about 3 days, and they break again. I would NEVER recommend this stove to anyone, and I regularly tell people who ask me not to buy an Englander but to go with another brand. It has been arctic here and the house is freezing because as usual the stove is broken. I have oil backup but it's not enough. However, I am not willing to put anymore money into keeping this piece of junk running. We have spent more money on parts than on the stove itself.
The same thing happend to me, the kicker is that the stove was working last spring. It was unplugged all summer, when I pluged it in this fall there was no lights on the control pannel, I called tech support and they said it was the control pannel amd it would caost 230.00 so i am without a stove now.
