I went into the Walgreens at 7109 S Jeffery Blvd, Chicago, IL 60649 around 3:20 pm March 12 2021, I was there to buy laundry detergent. As I navigated the aisles over to the detergent I noticed I was being looked at suspiciously by multiple employees. After making it to the detergent I needed help UNLOCKING the security case for the Tide detergent I wanted, the employee was very sarcastic when I asked her the price of another detergent (a smaller bottle of detergent that was also unmarked at the front of the store) her exact reply to my inquiry and statement that it couldn't be 6.99 was "Yes it could!" I noted her hostility and the security case for the detergent as she walked the Tide upfront and said "this will be upfront!" following behind her I asked puzzled "people steal that much?" she scoffed and sarcastically said "no." At that point I told her I didn't want the detergent and as I was leaving I told security they should not treat people like thieves. From the moment I entered the store it seemed I was a suspect and was treated so, but for laundry soap? There was more discrimination and attitude than professionalism or respect in a place that says Be Well, it's easy to explain policy with a smile. I was honestly hurt and felt like I did something wrong, I also felt walgreens did not want me shopping there.
Desired outcome: If there is a store policy in place to prevent loss it should be visible and or explained in a way that allows innocent customers a dignified shopping experience regardless of prejudices of employess. who
