We had my daughter's $300 prom dress hemmed at DB. This was a ballgown type dress with a slip layer, a tulle layer, a satin layer, and a lacy overlay
The alterations person didn't use a ruler to measure from the bottom. She just guessed as she was pinning the layers. I could see it was uneven in spots visually and noted that as she was pinning the layers. The bottom layer, she just started cutting off with a scissors - no measuring.
Well, we went to pick it up today. The satin layer is too short - almost a midi length, and the lacy layer is uneven. I realize the satin layer should be shorter than the overlay, but this was far too short - several inches. The alterations person wasn't there even though we had scheduled pick up for today.
My daughter cried, as did I. I didn't have my phone to take pics but will when I return to the store on Sunday to speak with alterations.
Desired outcome: They really can't fix it and make it look right. I have reordered the dress, as thankfully my daughter's size is still in stock. I would like 1. Reimbursement for the original dress and free alterations done on the newly ordered dress.
