On 6/2/23 @ 6:49AM I went to Safeway to get my daughter’s birthday flowers & cupcakes. I got in line and forgot to grab Visine because my eyes were dry & itchy the night before. The cashier was ringing up another customer and said I could go grab the Visine. When I came back while he was ringing me up he said, “Oh why you need Visine? because you was looking at something bad in bed last night?” The customer behind me was laughing saying, “Yeah, she must’ve been looking at something dirty in bed!”
I quickly told both of them that “I had an eyelash in my eye the night before and it’s been dry & itchy since then.” My quick response was because the cashier, as well as the customer made me feel uncomfortable and disgusted. The cashier then says, “See, why you rub your eye?!” To which I ignored.
It was unnecessary for the cashier to talk to a customer like that and I feel it was disgusting for a man to treat a woman that way. The cashier has no right to assume, let alone have the right to say such a disgusting thing. He was rude throughout the rest of the transaction, which was unexpected from the start. From what I see on my receipt my cashier was a man named Tim.
Desired outcome: I would like Tim, the cashier, to understand what proper etiquette is and perhaps get a refresher course on how to properly talk to customers.
