I feel so cheated by Pep Boys in the Peachtree City, GA
Here is the story.
My wife’s Honda Fit could not jump start, so we started enquiring the price for the battery replacement. Before we towed our car to Pep Boys, the front desk at Pep Boys on the phone told us that the battery replacement for Honda Fit, EX, 2016 will cost us $210. Meanwhile, the gentleman from the Toe Service told us that the battery is in good condition, and the car may have some other issues. We decided to tow our car to Pep Boys. It was on Saturday, June 10th around noon. I asked them to give me a call on diagnostics and specifically requested them not to replace anything before consulting me. Today, Sunday, June 11th morning, I got a call from the Pep Boys saying that they replaced the battery, and also that the car key needs a battery replacement.
They did not call me before replacing the battery. When I went to pick up my car, I was shocked to see the bill was $577. After discussing back and forth they reduced my bill to $452, still much higher than the originally they quoted over the phone. Back in the Honda Fit, to my surprise the car could not start, the car mechanic told me that I need to hold the car key near the ignition switch as the battery in the car key is running low and needs to be replaced. At this point of time, I felt so stupid that I thought that maybe the original problem with the car was not the battery but the battery in the car key. I went inside the Pepboys office and asked for the old battery of my car to check the voltage on it, but they refused to give me my old battery. Whether battery replacement was needed or not in my opinion these guys were not fair.
