(October 29, 2019) I was going to Party City for a last-minute Halloween costume as a last resort after everything else was out of stock. When I found the costume I wanted, I asked an employee if I could try it on and she was kind and called it in. When I was walking to the dressing rooms, an employee came rushing behind me asking me what the costume was. I told her it was costume #550 and she immediately told me I could not try it on because it was a bodysuit costume and it's against their hygiene policy. I never heard of this and was always allowed to try on bodysuits but I said I understood and that's fine and then kindly asked her if I could just hold it up to myself because I am a fairly smaller person and costumes are hard to find. She told me I would have to do it out in the open and I declined and bought it instead because I drove very far so I thought it would be fine. When I left the store, I called customer service and asked them about this and they told me that no policy like this existed and that I can try on any costume I'd like. I promptly called the store to ask for a manager. I explained the situation and he told me that "it's like trying on a swimsuit, you can't try them on because it's not hygienic, this is why this policy is nationwide" I responded and said that as long as you wore some undergarments it's okay but he shrugged it off and didn't apologize or anything. I told him about my conversation with HQ and I hear "this is news to me". I find this highly rude and ridiculous. I hope they learn a little more about their own policies and learn from their mistakes. I understand that I can't return it now because I've tried it on but I would like a full refund for this costume or store credit. This is ridiculous. Never going back.
