YMCA - friendliness and miscommunication

As a UCONN student, it's very hard to juggle many items at once. Including getting to the gym on a tight schedule and working out and leaving on time. I ride my bike to the Y and I've been told by a wonderful worker there that I can park my bike at the bottom of the stairs (against the wall, not blocking the stairs OR the door down there) or on top by the front desk.
When I'm in a rush I park it by the stairs.
This bike was given to me by my father and I use it for just about everything. I never mark it up or break it and I keep it clean. I value it very much because I don't see my dad often. One of the janitors, an older man, decided it would be okay (keep in mind he was not trying to find me and tell me I can't park there, even though it was night time and there were very few people present at the Y, and one of his co-workers said I could previously) to put a violation sticker across the middle of my bike. A big orange sticker. I actually didn't even notice the sticker because I was in a rush and was just going to leave, but he hears me taking my bike off the lock and proceeds to scold me for leaving my bike there, and tell me he was about to have someone cut it off the lock and bring it outside. I tried to tell him I didn't know and that I was sorry, and that someone had told me I could, but he continued to talk about the sticker he put on my bike, which then I noticed. I told him someone said I could and he ignored what I said and told me to park my bike in the hotel next door, which is an inconvenience for someone with a busy schedule to walk down into the garage to just walk back up. I would be better off not biking at all and just walking, but I can't do that all the time. I never got a warning and he never even tried to find me, though he's seen me many times before. He put a sticker on my personal property and I wouldn't ever even do that myself. He came off as rude and he actually alarmed me because I didn't expect him to lean over the railing and scold me.
I left shaking because I would never ever disrespect someone, especially someone older than me, and I actually apologized a few times in person for putting my bike there.
Please either get a space on the main floor that bikes can go on or have your workers come to an agreement. I was caught off-guard and because I was told otherwise I didn't think I did anything wrong.
