I am writing today to AMC Theaters (not Yelp or social media) to relay an experience my wife and I had at the AMC Flatirons Crossing 14 theater complex located in Broomfield, Colorado on [protected]. It has been quite some time since we have been out to a movie and had high hopes that things would be "back to normal". They were not. Previous to the worldwide hoax, this particular theater had been maintained to VERY high standards. As we walked up to the theater yesterday afternoon, we were greeted with trash and melted ice cream near the entrance as well as dirty door glass. The ice cream was still there more than 2 hours later! We also do not like the ugly grey window coverings that now completely obscure the lobby as you walk up to the entrance! I always thought the clear glass made the lobby look inviting and fun! Not so much anymore! The huge AMC sign above the main entrance was damaged, probably from the high winds that we get. As we entered, we were greeted by a polite young man that told us that the hand-scanner for our electronic tickets was broken and were escorted to a machine where ticket people used to sit. I started to look around and noted that there was popcorn and other trash on the floor of the lobby, something that I had not seen here before. To qualify... my family and I have been attending movies at this location since it opened in 2000. As we stepped up to the concession counter to order a few snacks for the movie, we were told that they were out of many refreshment items. I also noticed a dirty and disorganized prep area along with counters that had not been attended to in some time. There is no excuse for this as there were at least 3 people standing around in the "kitchen" area. If you have time to stand around, you have time to clean! As we stepped up to the beverage dispensing stations it quickly became clear that MANY of the beverage choices were out or the bag-in-box syrup dispensers simply had not been switched out in a timely manner by the staff. The dispensers appeared to need a good wipe down, top to bottom. When I mentioned the lack of selection at the beverage station to the clerk, he looked at me with a "well what do you want me to do about it' expression on his face. Is this a result of a lack of good training AND follow up? When we arrived at Theater #7, it looked as though it had not been cleaned from the previous show or perhaps MANY shows! Popcorn and other trash items were everywhere (In cup holders, on the seats, on the floors and behind the recliners)! This appears to be either laziness on the part of the staff or poor training and supervision. The seats and armrests were torn and missing pieces of material! It makes for an uncomfortable movie! I can not speak for all of the theaters within the building, but the EXIT signs in #7 were inoperable. This is a major write-up when the Fire Marshall visits and a hazard to guests in the event of a fire or other emergency! Given the recent MASSIVE fire nearby in Superior, Colorado, I would think AMC would want to err on the side of caution here! The restrooms were, for the most part, relatively clean. A quick check between shows to ensure that everything is ship-shape is not too much to ask, is it? I understand that it may be difficult to recover after such a long departure from common sense nationwide, but I am confident it can be done! I am confident that AMC can spend less on advertisements with Nicole Kidman and a bit more on maintaining the theaters and upgrading customer service! Thank you for your attention to this matter! Desired outcome: Please improve staff training, have a competent crew thoroughly clean kitchen/prep/serving/lobby areas, repair ripped recliners, repair EXIT signs (bulbs) within theater (fire hazard).
