I went in on a Saturday to buy ammunition, a manager was called and she told me that in order for me to buy the ammunition, I had to pay for a $16 back ground check, and my purchase would be ready for pick up 8-10 days later. I stated that requirement was for fire arm purchases, and I only wanted ammo. The manager said it was a state law, it applies to ammo and fire arms and it applies even to law enforcement. The following week, I went to the local walmart, no fee for the background check and you get the ammunition on the spot.
Is the manager at Big 5 flat out lying to me because to color of my skin or is she so ignorant she does not know the state regulations on fire arms and ammunition purchases?
I back this complaint. The same happened to me. Are store managers not required to know the current laws? Is there a store policy that allows them to not sell or charge a fee for the sale for no particular reason?
