I have a 2013 pearl white Kia Optima that I love! I just finished paying it off this year. I got it used and honestly it has been a great car for me. The only negative thing is the paint peeling off in several locations. I tried to go through the dealership and I was denied any assistance. Surely, the Kia corporation has to be aware that there is definitely a major problem with the paint jobs on these cars. It didn't really hit me until I parked next to another white Kia and both cars were peeling in the same areas. I don't have $5000 to repaint my car. It is very discouraging to pay for a car for 6 years and it looks older than the other car that I have that is 16 years old. It is disheartening to have a nice car hat you paid for 6 years with a great design and peeling paint.. Please help!
Desired outcome: Car repainted
Reana, I almost thought I had already posted to this site...those look like photos of my car! I am having the very same problems...they come after a blown engine. The engine was a recall in 2016. The paint problem began in 2020. It got to getting really bad in the summer of 2021. I contacted KIA about the problem. They wanted me to go get 3 estimates including photos of the peeling and flaking on my car, I did. The cost of the estimates each were 8 to 10, 000.00. (I'm paying a $530.00 a month car note...total $35, 000.00). After they put me through all this...and each shop has stated it will do no good too spot paint because the problem is going to continue. I am offered a GESTURE OF GOODWILL payment...I know a joke, but I still took it. I am calling KIA about every 3 months hoping for news of a recall on these pearl white paints! Such a shame these nice cars turn to look so bad. I'm at a point that I'm so tired of looking at mine, I'm just about ready to trade it for something else because my pocketbook can't afford the fix it needs.
