Unified Services review: Verizon is giving out phone numbers! 73

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I received a call from John from Unified Services telling me the same thing everyone else has been saying. $1.95 for 1000 dollar shopping spree and a vacation. This is definitely a scam, I am glad I found this site. The point of this blog is to ask people if they are also Verizon customers. I noticed a few other complaints which were either customers or cell phone users of this company. If, in fact, most people are their customers the complaints should lie solely with Verizon, for it might be that they are selling our phone numbers. If you are a Verizon customer please comment on this blog. If this is the case I will go after Verizon, since I believe there is not much we can do about a company in India. But there is much we can do about an American Company selling phone numbers to scam artist company's across the world.

three.co.uk are selling phones that have a known reported issue with the sim cards. The sim doesn't work and when you phone up they want all your personal details in order for you to have working sim card sent to your home. Why these sims have not been replaced in the 3 shops is anyone's guess.

I am a verizon customer and I have been getting calls everyday about 5-6 times a day from a 905-41 #. I have answered 2x but as soon as I answer the phone is disconnected. And I have tried to call back once but the number is not found. But it is really getting ridiculous.

Oh My Goodness, I cant believe this company. They charged my acct in August and since then Ive been battling with them to remove my information from their acct. I'm a Nextel customer and don't remember ever speaking with them. They also charged my acct $38.32 several times for some magazines. Wachovia has returned all monies paid out to this company but somehow they obtained my credit card info and charged me the $38.32. I canceled the card per Wachovia and now I received a bill in the mail and harassing calls. I spoke with a lady at the company, after I told her I never authorized this, she told me to pay the $38.32 and they will close out the acct and stop calling me. What the hell? I said Hell NO! and for her to give me a Manager/Supervisor. She refused to give me anyone and said to fax my complaint and proof from the bank and they will handle it from there. Nothing has been done except a complaint with my bank. I think this company needs to be sued and everyone needs to gather all their proof and information and we need to do this. This is outrageous! Does anyone have a phone number for them other than the #[protected]. I could never speak with anyone at this #... Watch out for the company named, Magazine Services, they are affiliated with Unified because they are the ones to shard my info and thats how I received all those $38.32 charges... And the weird thing is, I'm receiving tons of different magazines in the mail...

I just received the call from Unified Services. When I requested to be removed from the call list, the operator refused and told me it was too bad. I asked for the name of the company and informed him that I would be turning the company in to the Federal Government for refusing to remove me from their call list at my request. Believe it or not, he laughed and said good luck. The guy who called me barely spoke English, and I don't think they are in the US.

Hahaha... Man, I had fun with these guys tonight. They called me and I knew right away it was a scam, but I was bored so I just let him take me down the "prim-rose path". I gave him fake info that I made up from posters that I was looking at while I was talking. Then I gave him a fake bank account number and address. He was telling me that I also got a free camera, and diet pills that I could lose up to ten lbs with, I told him I was already pretty skinny. So he's says, in a real thick accent... "maybe you have family you can give pills to". I was like, "hmm, ya know... I have a pretty fat infant... maybe he can use them".

"That's wonderful" he said.

"Yeah, I can maybe put them in his bottle" I replied.

"Yes, that's wonderful" he said again.

Finally it came down to confirmation time... after about 10 minutes of me asking him stupid questions like, "should I pack a sweater to Hawaii?" So I hung up... he called back immediately and goes... "why you hand up" I told him my kid accidentally hung it up and he said he'd try it again and not to hang up... so I hung up. Then he called back, this time obviously irritated and asked why I hung up again.

I said, "because your a con-artist... do you think I'm stupid?" He started getting all excited and I told him not to call back and he goes, "I'll do what I want to!" I just laughed at him. Then he tried to tell me that he could have me arrested because I gave him false information. After a hearty laugh, I told him good-bye and he seemed happy to get out of the call.

It was fun... I hope I get another one of those... LOL!

I was a Verizon user and switched 2 years ago because they kept trying to double charge me for services. 2 months ago I started having charges to my checking account. I notified my bank of said charges and they are now looking int the scam. Unified services placed one of the charges and another phone company going by ez1rate.com was another. I'm really pissed that they think they can get away with this. not with me they wont.

After reading these posts concerning United Services, and after spending the last twenty minutes arguing with there supposedly service department, I realize that Ive been scammed for services that would not work in the area where I live. My wife had reviewed their product and received an extension. When we decided that we would rather not use this service, because it would not work, we called and cancelled our order. My wife was given confirmation numbers of the cancellation, but they took money from our bank account anyway. Now all I have to show for this is a address to send a letter for a refund, which after reading many of the letters on this site, probably will be denied. If anyone has information regarding how to get to speak to someone higher up, I would greatly appreciate it. I am going to contact the state of Minnesota attorney generals office and the electronic fraud devision of the Las Vegas Police Department.

Regards,
Michael Truax.

Received a call from Unified Services stating that i could receive a package to look over and to see if i would like to purchase package. Stated in my call that I did not want anything coming from my checking account. They stated that the only thing coming from my account would be $1.95 to cover postage. I went to my bank today to find out that Unified Services has charged my account for $149.50 a charge that I did not authorize. I am filing this with the BBB in my area, and I am turning this over to my attorney. I feel that I was lied to by united services, and that they are responsible for the drafts from my account and any other charges. My name is Pamela Hill. The number that was sent in the package was no good. I want my money back today.

Yes I have been getting 2 to 3 calls a day from unified services have told them to quit calling and they still do. I am a Verizon customer and this is running up my daytime minutes 3 calls a day thats 3 min extra a day time 22 days a month that 66 min doesn't sound like much but it adds up. I wouldn't answer it but I am a truck driver and my dispatcher when she calls it shows unavailable.

I am a verizon customer but I am getting these calls on my land line. They are making me very mad. They argue and get very loud. I have told them to not call me. Sometimes i get three or four calls a day. It is always a different voice, foreign and they I have never talked to you. They ask me if I have a valid checking account amd all I have to do is to authorize them to take the 1.95 out of my checking account. I am getting very fed up with these calls.

Unfortunately, I fell for unified services scam. Instead of them taking out $1.95 from my account that they promised, they took out $149. I am a young student in college and am stuck with this bill and not to mention the overdraft fees that I owe my bank. I wish I had just hung up on them. Well I have learned my lesson. If something sounds too good to be true it usually is.

This company has been around awhile. They have refined they marketing skills. You need to file complaint with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to take this company down. I wouldn't bite at this one but I recognized the company name. I still sent a complaint to FTC. They called me on my cell and got somewhat insulting when I refused to coperate.

Also They wouldn't hang up even after so many timesI told them to hang up...Do they ever know the value of time and money we waste answering these stupid calls...

Dear friends.. use your utmost insane langauge against them when they call you.

I received the same call I think September 25th. I was home on the net when i got the call and as soon as he said 1000 dollar shopping spree and vacation I knew not to trust it, I'm no idiot. So thanks to this blog when I searched google for "unified services" i saw all this ### about this scam. Before I mentioned anything about the scam to the foreign ### on the phone he wanted me to confirm my billing address and my bank which he knew without me telling him he knew a few other things too. When i asked how he got this information he avoided the conversation and then put another [censored] on, by then I was pretty fed up with the call and them avoiding how they got my information. When I mentioned what I was reading on google about their company he hung up. Im almost positive verizon could be selling them our numbers, it doesnt sound very unlikely conisdering the way they do business anyway. They knew information that verizon has on all of us. If anyone has information or wants to bring this to their doorstep I am in. mjservedio@hotmail.com

I was charged 149.80 as well. the same dumb story. and would like to know what to do to get a refund. and i cannot wait until tommorow to talk to my attorney or deal with it legally, and get back what is writefully mine. not only are the materials alone not worth even half that price. they were offered as free along with a 1.95 s&h fee. they are scamming and continue to scam people for there hard earned money. if anyone has made any progress on there refund or even pursueing a lawsuit. please contact me at jlortz2k3@yahoo.com. because i would love to shut these peices of ### down

Nope, sorry. I'm Cricket (with the cool oversized green K.)

It was awesome, I asked to speak with the sup. The guy jossled the phone and got back on speaking with a slightly different pitch to his voice. As the call wore on (I was playing with them a bit) he started to sound more and the same as he originally did.

I asked if this was a supervisor and he quickly renewed the "supervisor" voice.

It made me laugh. It was like the wolf pretending to be grandma in the Little Red Riding Hood.

I can't believe I actually fell for this scam. Thank God, I found this site! I was stupid enough to be glamourized by the $1000 shopping spree and 3day 2night vacation. My common sense finally kicked in when I noticed that the call back number they gave me was an advertisement! I had to freeze my account and and make a new one. This is TRULY one lesson learned.

Hi,
I just got their call this morning!

I was unwary; they really enjoyed my ignorance for the first five minutes before I could figure out their thuggery!
I quickly made a google search but all I could see was the complaint board and it took me time to understand the stuff on the board since I was also concentrating on the phone.

After naively giving out my account number, I made an on-line money transfer from my checking account to another account in a second. I called the bank to close the account and they did it.

I guess they tried to check my account but found $0.00!
Ha ha...I was ahead of them at least! Unfortunately, I have to the bank and open another account...time wasted but money saved at least!

I'm a Verizon Customer, but not for long. A bank account seldom used (don't have checks for it anymore) in a different state was hit for 149.80. We got a copy of the electronic check which has our address and other items messed up. Even the bank name and address were wrong. Of course the routing info was right though. Like I said seldom used, but we did use it to pay verizon over the phone a couple days before the fraudulent check hit the account.

How bout those premium text charges Verizon lets go through - poor buisness practices or additional income? They are Thieves and are probably affiliated with Unified Services

I've received a call for two days from the same gentleman that doesn't speak very clear english. I did not buy into the whole $1.99 charge, but after ready this website, next time this guy calls, I'm going to ask to speak with a supervisor, and tell them, if I ever see a charge come out of my account ever for 149.80, there getting it.

The guy will ###, they will wonder how the hell does this guy know about this scam. LOL.

You are all wasting your time blogging about these ripoffs.

Target one epolitician - Sanford Bishop of GA - and tell him you are NOT VOTING until legislation is passed about "free" products that rip off and bait-and-switch offers that drain your bank account...

Even if you don't live in his district, spreading the complaints out among dozens of politicians is TOTALLY USELESS.

His contact site: http://bishop.house.gov/display.cfm?section_id=13

Other than the politicians, there is nothing we can do and the scammers know it...

Scam just recently took place with a person who had opened a Verizon account. In less than 4 weeks, he received a call from "Brian", ID #4861 who represents, Unified Services.

Unfortunately, the individual who received the call gave Brian vital personal information over the phone.

I'm lodging a complaint with the New York State Attorney General's office and suggest that others do as well.

I am so horrified. Something told me not to go through w/this, especially since they wouldn't let me send them a money order for the $1.95. I should have followed my instincts. The sad part is that I'm the only one working right now and was having a hard enough time as it was without this extra B.S. My grocery money, my gas money, my bill money, it's all gone and plus some!
I have contacted my bank though, I have a meeting w/the manager Monday. I'll be sure to mention the suspicious names they gave me like " George" & "Laura Jones". If my two kids starve because of this, you'd better believe there will be hell to pay! I've equipped myself though, I got a number from a friend for the attorny, so even if it breaks me now, I'll get my money back one way or another! This disgusts me that there are such degenerates out there, just preying on us and our families. As soon as I was off the phone, they called back, offering me another shopping spree.

"Unified Services" Called me a couple times in the last few days.I don't have a Verison phone. They wanted me bank account number and when I wouldn't give it,he would ask me what's wrong with me? The only number that showed up when they called was 905-41.When they said they couldn't send the check and my prize without my bank account information,I just told them to give the prize away and I hung up.They called me back.If it was such a great prize, they wouldn't be calling me back.

i got a call this evening(sep 13th 2007) A lady called herself as Anna Smith but was no where close to that name in her accent.

She tried to convince me that i should give her my bank a/c number for $1.99. When i asked her for a contact number she gave me some number and said that it was my turn to give her my bank a/c number. I got online while speaking to her saw this forum and asked questions on what was discusses here. She started to compare Microsoft and said even they have critics. I tested her patience and finally she said that i was wasting her time. I had to rush so i told her to do something better in life ;-)

Thanks to this forum and everyone who has shared their thoughts.

i Just received a call from unified services and it was a man that had to have been indian. i couldnt understand hardly anything he was saying but he knew my name and my address. he told me he was calling from vegas and said i had won $1000 shopping spree and a 2 day 3 night trip. then he asked for a checking account number to pay for the shipping and handling and it would only be $1.95.i was a little wary and thought something doesnt feel right, so i told him i didnt have a checking account number and that i could send him a money order. then he gave me this whole spiel about how his company has had bad experiences with money orders and new it was total bull [censored]. So DO NOT give them any information about you or anyone. the number he called me from was 310. if you get a call from that number answer it and tell them you know its a scam. that way they shouldnt call you anymore. my cell provider is alltel so watch out if you have the same provider.

I'm with at&t/cingular and received these calls 2 times a day for the last 2 weeks. They are very rude when I tell them not to call and that I am on the do not call list. The number they call from always shows up as unknown so I can't have it traced.

I'm a Verizon customer and just got a call from someone in India with Unified Services. They called me twice this morning and it comes up 'unknown' so I didn't answer. They called again this afternoon so I pick up. I couldn't understand too much of what the woman was saying but she kept repeating that I have won a '1000 dollar shopping spree and a vacation'. Just like everyone else keeps saying. In return I tried to get her to connect me to a manager. She wanted to give me another phone number but I was not about to set my number up again for another phone list. She was also unable to tell me where she got my number from. I told her to take my phone off their list as well as recognize the 'Do Not Call List'. This probably didn't make any difference. I have been with Verizon for 7 years and would be furious if I heard they were selling numbers. Unified Services online search didn't come up with any contact information. I would love to start harassing them!

I am a Verizon customer and have received these harassing phone calls a number of times. Even after hanging up on them and telling them I did not want anything, they still call. What is most troubling this time is they knew my bank account number. I am contacting my bank immediately to be on the lookout for unauthorized charges.

I am a verizon wireless customer and this indian company "unified services" has been calling me every day for the past two months, including late nights and weekends. It's beyond pissing me the ### off. I have talked to supervisors and requested they remove me from their database on numerous occasions, but the next day they still call. Today my boyfriend answered the phone and THEY hung up on him.

I'm not racist by any means, but I am really beginning to become rather discriminatory against these indian ###s. They want me to pay $1.95 per week to get $1000 shopping spree that i "won?" Although that's about all I was able to understand. They talk so fast and have such thick accents it's hard to make out what they say.

This just makes me even more mad that our jobs are being shipped over there.

I have been getting these phone calls as well, and I am a Sprint Customer. Definitely sound Indian. It does not help to ask them to remove you from a list. When I asked them to, I was told to suck someone's d!#k. The last time they called I was told that I could not talk to him that way... Whatever! This means war!
