TripAdvisor - viator rome tour to naples, sorrento, capri and pompeii

We booked a 3 day all inclusive tour w guide to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento & Capri from Rome. We were to travel June 24th with a morning pick up in Rome. Received no directions to pick up point; e-mailed at 5:30 a.m. & then called at 6:00 & again at 7:00a.m. to get information. No answer and no voice mail. Proceeded to area and searched for tour for an hour. No luck so took train to Sorrento at our own expense. Did reach someone who gave us the name of the hotel we were booked at. Proceeded there & checked in. Assumed we would meet the guide and others in the tour there, but no one showed up.

Day 2 we were to have an all day guided tour of Capri. We were to be met at the hotel, but instead had to walk 5 blocks to get a shuttle from the boat company. Again, no guide & no others in the tour. Spent 45 minutes being processed & waiting for late arrivals. An 8 hour all day tour was 6 hours; definitely not enough time to be considered an all day tour. Again took boat company shuttle back to hotel. No guide from Acampora or TUO and no other members of the tour.

Day 3 was to be an all day tour of Pompeii with transportation and a guide and lunch. We called to verify pick up and were told we had been cancelled! No explanation given. We scrambled and booked our own transportation to Pompeii, paid admission and lunch on our own. No refund given for this entire tour. Feel this whole tour was a sham and an entire waste of $1132.00. We received 2 nights hotel and 2 dinners which we could have booked on our own for considerably less. Have reached out to Viator and they say we received what was promised. Don't understand how they can say that when there was no guide as promised, and we did not recieve any of the Pompeii tour, transportation and lunch as stated in our package. These are just the major discrepancies. Feel that Viator and TripAdvisor should stand behind the companies they use and treat customers fairly. We have used Viator many times in the past, but will certainly be hesitant to use them in the future. Do not feel we can trust them to use reliable companies after this unfortunate and expensive experience.

Our tour reference # was699236712, and our confirmation # is1102168340 booked on April 27th, 2019. Regards, Joan Schwanke

TripAdvisor - false advertising misleading information

they allow anonymous people review establishments whether they stayed or not, reviews are never verified or checked, and if a hotel does complaint they make out to have the review checked and then come back and say they found nothing to indicate the review is suspicious, but I know because I submitted a review about a place that I stayed and got the owner to complain by saying that his hotel was closed for refurbishment and that these guests could not have stayed, they wrote back to the owner and said that they had checked out the review and it was authentic, but I got no email to check it out, so who did they check it out with.luckily it was a 5* glowing review, According to BBB in MA they only have 1 employee but do not have a favourable buisness, this is a suspicious company and they lock properties into being members by getting ficitious guests to sign up their properties - GET THEM INVESTIGATED ASAP_ THEY ARE MISLEADING TRAVELLERS, INSULTING ACCOMMODATION POVIDERS AND FALSELY ADVERTISNG BY STATING "GET THE TRUTH THEN GO" LIES LIES LIES

Get over it. You are just mad that the people finally have a voice regarding being treated like dirt by certain establishments. People have better things to do with their time than make up stories about somewhere they stayed if it was not true. If you don't like what they write, don't go to the site. Review sites shouldn't be responsible for the experience of traveling individuals, obviously. So treat your present customers right and they will come back. Plain and simple. Most service sucks these days. Sites like Trip Advisor are our only recourse in being treated badly. Having the internet to complain has been a god send.

Tripadvisor are heading for a fall, they are allowing anonymous reviews on small hotels, their interest is the larger hotels that are linked with Expedia and Hotels.com that are part of their corporate group, as long as the general public are not staying at the hotels that Tripadisor are allowing the bad reviews for then Tripadvisor are making more money through Expedia etc.
How can you trust a company that charges hotels to advertise on their website and their website is a REVIEW site for these same companies that are advertising!

Tripadvisor are owned by Expedia.com, they will only remove reviews if it is in Expedias interest, if the hotel is an Expedia hotel then the review will be removed or if the hotel is prepared to pay the 1000$ a year fee to tripadvisor to be a Tripadvisor hotel.

Tripadvisor is a scam and only complete idiots would rely on a Tripadvisor review.

Agree completely with this complaint, stayed at a property recently having never heard of Tripadvisor, but met an American couple there who had read a particularly nasty review about this B&B, the american couple had read a rebuke by the owners legal team and had asked to see the CCTV images that the rebuke stated were available, so I asked about it also and viewed it with the american couple now I had not seen the review so held my opinion until I returned to Italy and then read the review which is totally untrue, I then contacted the support team from Tripadvisor as per their web site and told them that I with many more visitors had viewed this CCTV and that the review was written by a very erratic person who was obviously just a crank as the contents were wrong and this could be seen from the CCTV which was dated the same date as he had on his review, and that that Tripadvisor were most certeinly wrong in this case and doing the B&B serious damage, I got a reply to contact them through the owners forum and I replied saying that I was not an owner but a perosn who wished to being to their attention a flawed review for their own sake of content integrity, I never received a further reply and the review remains under this B&B, I totally agree this company should be made answerable for the reviews, I have contacted the B&B and told them that I contacted Tripadvisor to advise that I saw their CCTV and got no satisfaction and the gentleman replied that he was not surprised, he said Tripadvisor have told him that the bad reviews get more clicks and that is what makes them a popular site on google, so how about that? Perhaps all the accommodation providers should contact google, ot take their peoperies off this FAKE site. Marcel Italy

Please check feed back for this resort. In good faith you must red alert this resort on the basis of what was written describing criminal behavour. This is absolutely essential because of how these respondents were treated. This resort is dangerous.

I receive one to two phone calls daily from TripAdvisor from different phone numbers. I have repeatedly asked not to be called.

Please remove my phone numbers from your call list.

They are [protected] and [protected].

If I am contacted again I will file harassment charges!

How can trip adviser continue to sponsor her show? I'm boycotting Trip Adviser for its lack of judgement and support of this disgusting woman.

Last year I wrote a review of a trattoria that is open only for lunch. I noticed a review that was talking about a late night bad experience with pizza. This is totally impossible as the place closes at 3 P.M. They do not make pizza. Trip Advisor ignored my communications that the review was regarding another place. The review is still posted a year later.

I just wrote my first one star terrible review and TA refused to post it. This tells me that the information is not honest and is biased to good reviews. I have had over 25, 000 reads of my reviews. I will no longer write for them, nor use the site. Cannot trust it to avoid a bad experience. TA just lost a long time reviewer.

TripAdvisor publishes reviews which provable aren't correct!
TripAdvisor.com

TripAdvisor publishes reviews which provable aren't correct and damaging our good name and business.
Their answer is that the review of the client meets their guidelines, meanwhile the host can proof by the listings description and the real situation and location, the rental client to be ill-intentioned.
The rental client expected refund, because they did prefer to go back to Bangkok, which is no reason for refund. As a revenge they wrote an utterly bad review based on multiple lies, which is in conflict with our description. Despite our complaints, TripAdvisor answer is:
Traveler reviews are individual, highly subjective opinions which are not endorsed or verified by TripAdvisor. It is our policy to allow any review that meets our criteria to be posted to our site. We are very sorry to hear about the situation you experienced with your guest. However, we are not in a position to make judgments about the character or intentions of reviewers.
If a review that you report violates our guidelines or we determine there is something improper about it, we will look to remove the review. However, simply disagreeing with the content of the review is not sufficient to justify removing it. Please remember that TripAdvisor does not arbitrate or referee factual disputes.
We have completed a review inquiry into your complaint. It is TripAdvisor's final decision that the review you inquired about will remain on the site. As I hope you understand, the details of our review inquiry procedures cannot be disclosed.
Finally we took the property off-line, as we can afford to have less income.
In our opinion TripAdvisor doesn't care about well fare of Hosts!

I feel that trip advisor protects certain companies in the tourism world and deliberately harms others.

Tourism is a very big business all over the world. There are a lot of politics and money involved, and I feel that trip advisor has the

power to skew results and postings for the companies it promotes, and to disfavor industries and companies it does not promote.

I have had a personal experience with trip advisor which definitely leads me to believe that very little of what you read is based on a true representation of the population's opinion.

went to the TripAdvisor office in Singapore to personally complain about Bandung Forum Poster "schonefeld" who constantly writes lies about West Java Indonesia where I have lived these past 12 years. TA disabled my account earlier this year...the Singapore office passed on my complaint to the US and guess what they have done nothing about the poster "Schonefeld" who is definitely a cyber bully...and my account stays disabled. The poster "Schonefeld" calls Indonesians "###" and "scammers"...and continues to attack other local Indonesian forum posters and have their accounts disabled. Well now it might be possible for the Indonesian Ministry of Communications to block the TripAdvisor Web Site...I hope so as the posts on the Bandung Forum are one sided, but just a few regular TripAdvisor "Bar Flies"...
I go under the name of Favenchi on Facebook and this used to be my id on TripAdvisor or should I say Trip Despisor?
The picture is of the Trip Advisor on the sixth floor of the Singapore Board of Tourism building...

I also own a restaurant and i have competitors writing things like' Their burgers tasted like they were marinated in Dog fecies, served on mouldy bread and my staff were like Zombies. Its disgusting that people would stoop so low and its disgusting that trip advisor allows it. This kind of things destroys businesses and ruins lives. There are people behind these businesses and peoples lives depend on it. I have written to trip advisor yet all i get is an automated response. I can handle constructive criticism, but when all some one says is that the place is a hole and thats it... WELL, trip advisor should have more class. I have lost all respect for the trip advisor tool!
