Eddie and Adam Bryant came to my door selling their roofing services. They met the adjuster and my roof was approved for about $6500. Once I received the $3723 partial payment from the insurance company, I gave a personal check to Eddie. He asked me to postdate it two weeks since he wouldn't be able to do the roof right away. He cashes the check two weeks later, Feb 22, 2010 (at a check cashing service, not a bank) and the calls start coming from Penny (Bryant?) telling me they're working on it, blah, blah. Penny calls about every three weeks or so with the same story. They've abandoned the two addresses I have for them. The address on the contract is 146 MLK Jr. Blvd #135, Monroe, GA 30655 which appears is part of a Blockbuster store. However, Penny called me today, June 1, and told me it's a P.O. Box with the UPS store next door. I haven't checked that yet. Yes, she did call me today with more excuses - personal problems, it's going to rain all this week - although I haven't quite figured out why she called after not contacting me for a month and gave me another phone #[protected]. Perhaps an attempt to delay my getting a lawyer. Could I still get a roof out of this? Highly doubt it. Do I even want them to work on my home anymore? Probably not. They might do the work and not pay the supplier for the materials so I get a lien on my home. So, 13 weeks have gone by since the check was cashed and no roof. I report, you decide.
Thank you for the information. I didn't know any of that. I wonder if, with a lawyer, there's a chance of getting any of the money back or are they bankrupt? By the way, when Penny last contacted me, she said Pro-Tech Roofing (my spelling) and someone named Shannon, I think, were now helping her resolve things. So folks should probably think twice about going with that company as well. This Penny Bryant should be hauled into court too; she's as guilty as they are. Nice family, huh?

Well, great news. A rep from Horizon Roofing, Kevin Jackson, contacted me when he saw my post here. This is the company that did nearly every one of the 60 or so houses in my neighborhood. Why didn't I contact them first? Believe me, I've been wondering that myself. Anyway, he asked if I would contact him to see if we could work something out. I didn't think anything would come of it, but we came to an agreement, greatly in my favor, and I've got a new roof. They started at 6am and were done before noon on a 3BR, 2Bath, 1300 sq. ft. home. So don't give up hope as I did. Give Horizon a call at [protected] or email Kevin at kjhorizonroofs@att.net. He will work with you. You may be incredibly surprised.

You're welcome! I hope you received my somewhat lengthy message with the additional info on this group. Initially, I posted because I really didn't know what to do and hoped someone would respond with some suggestions. I also wanted to warn others. I was well aware of all the stories on unscrupulous roofers and I still fell for this. So even though there are legitmate roofers who come to your door, especially now because of the economy, I would say never sign with someone who is going door-to-door. Unless you have a tree straddling your roof, what's the urgency? Even so, take their card, do your research on their business license, insurance and BBB rating and get recommendations. Go to their office - anyone who just has a P.O. box or is working out of their home - well, as you can see from my experience, good luck with that! Finally, learn to say NO, even if they seem to be really nice people!

Well, it's been a while since I first posted. I see the thread has just been revived! I did leave a message on Det. Martinez phone last year but didn't get a call back so I just forgot about it. Now I think I should pursue it if it's not too late. I checked the Gwinnett Co. court records online a few days ago, near the end of March, 2011, and searched Eddie Bryant's name, it came up with something like "being held over" so maybe more charges are pending. Anyway, I'll try Martinez again, although I'm in Walton Co. Anyone with new info, please post.
How did you know they're the same guys? Any address? What area are you in?

THEY ARE STILL OUT THERE CONNING PEOPLE OUT OF MONEY! They came to my house to do some work and actually damaged my house in the process. Not only did they damage it, the work that was done will need to be redone correctly by someone else. They manged to con me out of about $3, 000. I started to get suspicious when they told me I needed a new roof. I had my insurance agent come out and was told I had 5 shingles that needed to be replaced... In the meantime I started checking on them on the internet and stumbled across their mug shots and this site. Thank you to everyone that posted, it helped confirm my gut instinct. Unfortunately I lost a fair amount of money but caught on before I lost much more. I ended up calling the police to get them to leave my property. The police told me they are still on probation... obviously they did not learn their lesson from being jailed...
So that everyone is aware, they are now working as Experts Roofing and Remodeling. They are still at work- taking money off innocent people.
Everyone, they are now going by the name Expert Roofing and Remodeling. They did a halfass job on my house and took off. When we sent an email explaining our concerns, I received back a letter calling me "ungrateful' and a liar. How are they still allowed to have a company?

There was no address on the flyer just their phone number. Eddie is out of jail because he was in the truck with Adam as well.

I live in flowery branch, I had actually stop and talk to them about what type of work they did while in the neighborhood. The one guy said his name was Adam Bryant and that they were from monroe over in walton county. So I decided to look up his name and business info on the internet just for the heck of it and found a mugshot of him and his brother. Then I found a link to this website with his name and was reading the comments and figured it was the same Adam Bryant I talk to.

These same guys were putting flyers on mailboxes in my neighborhood recently. They were in a white [protected] chevy pickup truck with a damage front bumper. The company name they were using was Adam and William Home Maintenance # [protected].
Hello all, it's a sad day that I'm having to post here. My uncle was also swindled out of nearly $10, 000 by Top Notch Roofing. He just told me about this today and when I searched online, what do you know... I contacted Detective Martinez just now so hopefully my uncle's case can be included. Yes, I agree, there are probably many more like him who have been scammed out of insurance claims funds. What I would ask you all to do is to write your senators and ask them to draft a bill that would protect home owners from contractor scams. It could be that there needs to be more accountability on the part of the insurance companies in their work and dealing with contractors. Obviously, too many elderly people are being swindled. They often do not have the means or the ability (health, ignorance, etc.) to investigate contractors and are as gullible as children at their age. Please take action with your local representatives to effect some change in the law. Anyone with any new information about this case, please let me know. A big thanks to all of you for coming forward and providing so much useful information, especially who to contact and what county. God bless you all.

It looks like at least 5 people have been ripped-off. There are probably a LOT more. The DA has the power to get their books, if they exist, and find out just how wide spread their criminal activities have been.

Thanks for the update. My friend has filed a police report. She gathered all of her information and dates relating to Top Notch Roofing to take to the police department. She spoke to the Sgt in charged of the investigation team last week. She was told by him investigators will contact her this week to ask more questions relating to Adam Bryant and Top Notch Roofing. I hope penny will be investigated also. She has played a Big Role in this scam. Thanks for offering to assist with this issue. I will pass this information to the DA in Gwinnett County. Also I will let the investigators know you are willing to help in anyway possisble. I will let you know if anything more comes of this. God Bless

Bryant). We would not have known that they are in jail in Gwinnett County. Once we found out this information, the search was on to see if the information was true. I have a friend who works at Gwinnett County Court. She checked this information out for us. Yes, they are in Gwinnett County Jail for Theft By Deception.
My friend who works at the Gwinnett County Court contacted the DA who prosecuted the Bryant brothers. He told my friend who was ripped off by Adam Bryant to file a police report in her county. My friend has already filed a Police Report. The investigation is in process. The Gwinnett County DA stated a lawyer will not be needed because Adam and Eddie have already been prosecuted. This was very good news. Something needs to be done about Penny. She played a big role in this scam also. I'll let you know if Penny will be prosecuted.
Thanks for the contractor referral. My friend had her roof done last Friday by Baker Restoration Services LLC. Mr. Baker is a contractor for State Farm Insurance. Her roof looks so beautiful. I am so happy you finally got your new roof. The Bryant Brothers and Penny will reap what they have sown. Being in jail is a good place to start. May God Bless You,

I have a complaint about Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling. Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling makes me want to VOMIT!(Sorry, I am just sick how Top Notch(Adam Bryant) has taken advantage of one of my dear ill friends. My friend saw Adam Bryant out with his advertising truck(Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling). He stated he does roofing work with his family company(Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling). Therefore he told her he would come over to look at her insurance claim to view the measurements and cost to replace the roof. He told her whatever the insurance has stated on the claim he would do it for that cost. Plus he stated he would deduct a little for allowing Top Notch Roofing sign to advertise in her yard. Adam Bryant came over to do just what he had told her plus more. My friend never thought his real intention was to take her money and run like a road runner. Once he got to my friend's house, he came in viewed the insurance claim, gave a sympathy speech about an accident that almost killed him. He told her God had spared his life. It is a miracle he is still alive. He also told her God has more good deeds for him to do on earth. Also like every other con-artist, he gave the JESUS STORY. He said he was a CHRISTAIN. He goes to CHURCH every Sunday. Yada, Yada, Ya----WOW! What A Devil He Is! Of course my friend sympathized with what he had said about his accident and near death experienc. Also my friend loves God. Adam Bryant hit her right in the heart with his JESUS STORY and GOOD DEEDS. Therefore, she wrote him a check for almost $3000 dollars. He told her he needed half the money to buy the roof materials because there is a GREAT DEMAND for HAIL MATERIALS. Adam also said the materials will be delivered in a few weeks. It has been 4 months. My friend 's calculation is Top Notch + Adam Bryant + Phone Calls + Roofing Materials + Money = Rip-Off My friend trusted Adam Bryant of Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling. He took advantage of her weakness and kindness. He lied to her, mislead her, and took her money. Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling even had the NERVE to submit information to my friend's insurance company stating they had completed her roof on her house. WOW! He said he is a Christian. A Bold lying Christian(even to the insurance company). My friend is so sick over the entire situation. She is already struggling with an illness. Now she is stressed out over this Top Notch Drama. $3000 dollars gone in an instant. All because of Adam Bryant Sobbing Christian Story and Near Death Experience. He should be in jail. If this is what you called a Christian, Count Me OUT. Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling will REAP WHAT THEY HAVE SOWN. I hate this has happened to my friend and others. What can be done about Top Notch Roofing and Remodeling and especially that old so call CHRISTIAN Adam Bryant. Adam a Christian, Yea Right.
They were actually convicted in Gwinnett County court back in April for doing this to someone else. The jury found both brothers to be guilty of theft by deception. The state pressed the charges on behalf of someone just like yourself. Obviously they run the same scam over and over because what you describe was the exact same story that we heard in court. I would suggest getting a lawyer and definitely do NOT let them do your roof. Let me know if you have any questions about their scheme. I searched for reviews of their company because I was curious to see if they had done this before--I had a feeling that they probably have been running this scam for a long time.
