For perspective, I am a special educator (SLPA) and mom to a child on the spectrum. This is not Minecraft or Angry Birds, so it's probably not fair to expect it to be an app kids will gravitate to on their own, although they might if they haven't been sucked in to the app video game world yet. That's ok- I see it as a therapy tool to be used, adult and child together, or with close supervision. (I do agree with another reviewer's request for audio narration- this could be useful for setting up a station where one student could be working on this app to enhance what was previously learned while the therapist is working one on one with another student.) I think this is a super resource to pull out and revisit with students who need help identifying and managing their emotions. I use it with my own son from time to time- the new content is very useful-kids can practice which emotions match up with blue, green, yellow or red zones, as well as practice breathing strategies for calming down. There is also a new section, the "picture studio", where the child can add photos of their own demonstrating different emotions. (there is a bug on my iPad mini running an older iOS version so maybe others will be fine, but I can't use the "take photos" option (it crashes) so the child has to take the picture outside of the app and then use the photo library option instead. Five stars if not for the two caveats mentioned. Definitely a great resource to have at its current price of $6!

So... This would be a decent app if it had audio... Without it, it's frankly overpriced. It's frustrating that my five year old wants to play/learn but I have to slow him down and keep him from clicking through because he is unable to read and I have to read every single prompt... Please add audio for the younger kids using this curriculum

This is a very nice way to work with the content in the Zones of Regulation curriculum, and complement the activities in the book. I piloted with a group of rather disreguated kids and they were very engaged. Nice graphics and a game-based interface will help kids work through the concept of zones, associated feelings, triggers and tools to help get you to the "green zone."

I'm a school based OT. I have been able to use this app to teach the zones to some of my middle schoolers. I wouldn't recommend for younger students or those with literacy concerns. I would like to see data that the app takes as far as getting the questions correct and tools selected.

It's a nice addition to anyone familiar with the Zones of Regulation curriculum. It's engaging and I like that once you get some tools in your "toolbox" you can look back at them as a reminder. So far my students like it and are learning skills in a fun way. Hopefully more content can be added in updates and options for students to apply more "tool-based" problem-solving.

As a school-based Occupational Therapist, I am thrilled to have this app to help my students learn and reinforce concepts from the Zones of Regulation. I heard this app was coming, and have been eagerly waiting its release. I purchased it right away -- and it is a great app!
The graphics are outstanding, the characters are likable and the flow of the game is smooth and fun for kids. I will definitely recommend this to parents for additional support outside of school.

My 6year old has proprioception issues with vestibular and self regulation problems coupled with ADHD with impulsivity. He loved this app but it is so short that he was left wanting more. There are only a few zones and after the initial walk through the neighborhood there was nothing left to explore. The game is good but need a lot more meat. My little guy went from eager to bored within 30 minutes. Beef it up and I would be willing to pay 10 times the price AND recommend it to his OT.

As a school psychologist my district has been using Zones of Regulation with students on the autism spectrum, but any child with difficulty in emotional regulation will benefit from this app. Kids love Internet games and and this app teaches through a whole lot of fun and adventure play. It's definitely a 5 star app with a 5 star teaching method!

Students love this app! It is engaging, and motivates exploration of emotional regulation concepts. Worth the money. We need more apps of this quality for students with social cognition and self regulation challenges. I have had a small issue with locking up, and received great (and immediate) support from designer!

MAN this game was GASSSS bro WOULD PLAY AGAIN my 3 year old was so engaged! Graphics were some of the best I've seen on any game, i think it could even beat out the graphics on PAC-MAN Also, the charecters are 10/10 and really achived that "I'm going to pee my pants in 30 seconds" look Althogh, my charecter seemed HORRIBLY DISSAPOINTED when she COULDN'T WALK ON SIDEWALKS! Outfits belong on Fasion Week, broski, so props to the desinger of this beautiful learning game. pls make another one!

First I'd have to say the graphics and music are very fun and kid friendly. Every child that has played this game so far has really been enjoying it, and I think the above are two reasons why. From an educational standpoint the app explores several areas of emotions and how to regulate emotions and I believe this is a great tool for parents and teachers to use with their children. A note to the developer: please consider adding in something for the "Match the Face" mini game that tells the player they got the answer wrong, and show them the correct answer or something. I've found this to be the only real complaint with some kids showing mild frustration. This aside, thank you for such a great app! 5 stars!

My 9 year old son has been playing this game every day for a week. He's in a class that just began discussing The Zones of Regulation, so this app is a great teaching and reinforcing tool. He was disappointed that after two days of playing he had played the entire game and bought everything possible at the store. But he continues to play by deleting and adding new players. He seems to like the repetition. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars if a player could have gone through the colored zones more than one time.

I have been using this app both with my clients as well as with my own children. It is really engaging and even my own typical developing kids want play it on on their own. I have loved the discussions it has prompted and how it has held the attention of some very challenging clients. They want to continue exploring and playing the games. It has been fun too to play with small groups. I would recommend for therapists, as well as every parent to teach social and emotional regulation skills.

This app is such a fabulous resource to supplement the concepts in the Zones of Regulation curriculum! I started using it the 1st day it was released with several social skill groups in my elementary school setting. I have a quite "spirited" group of six 2nd and 3rd grade students, some of them on the autism spectrum, others with emotional/behavioral needs. They have been excited to come to social skills group every day this week to see what comes next in this invaluable app! Learning activties are interwoven throughout game components where users can earn coins, achievements, unlock mini-games, and more. I would HIGHLY recommend this app for educators working on social/emotional/behavioral skills of all ages - elementary-middle & high school. This would be a wonderful resource for parents to use at home as well to reinforce skills their children learn in social skills groups or therapy. Wonderful!

The Zones of Regulation is a fantastic learning tool for the kids I work with. I use the book as well but this app is a nice change of pace while still being able to reinforce the lessons learned. The kids really enjoy the app, especially the “Stop, Opt and Go" mini game. Excellent buy and I look forward to whatever the developers have in store for the app's future.

I like the concept of having a game. It makes it so easy for me to introduce zones in an engaging way, but I wish it was less like trivia. I wish it would explain why the questions were wrong, or at least allow us to see the question to see what we did wrong. Or even tell us the right answer. I feel like kids can't really learn unless they know what they did wrong. I'm also disappointed in the tools part of the application. It doesn't allow you to skip tools. One tool is "jump on trampoline", but a client who is incapable of walking wouldn't be able to do that. Someone who doesn't have access to a trampoline wouldn't be able to engage in that tool either. Also, if the tool wouldn't help, then why are you making students put it in their toolbox? The zones and the toolboxes are supposed to be tailored to the individual.

I was anticipating this app for a while. My son loves playing it and the content is very valuable. While he is on the autism spectrum he has no problem progressing through the app. I love the art style, the music, theme etc. Very kid-appealing and definitely worth the price. What I would like to see are more instances relating to social situations. Perhaps in a future update, but great app as it stands. Thanks for such a useful app.

This is a great app for children and teenagers, knowing what to do when they are in specific zones. I think the developers should add more faces and emotions in the Match the Face game because the same things occur over and over and it can be boring, but other than that, this is a great app.

I got this game at the recommendation of my sons OT. My 10 year old has Inattentive ADHD with emotional regulation difficulties, so i thought this would be a good supplement to what he is learning through the program at his OT's. WRONG. Both my 7 & 10 year olds finished the "game" in less than an hour. i couldn't believe it, so i played it. 1st, let's be clear, This wasn't really a game, as much a tutorial where you walk your character to various points and answer situational ?'s to get coins. The coins can be used to buy badges, but don't really do anything. My daughter thought the graphics were creepy, my son said the characters looked weird, and both asked if there were zombies hidden in the town! My son completed it, and achievements were not exciting enough to continue to relearn the lessons. Would not recommend. Not sure what age level this is targeted given the language and reading skills needed to answer the ?'s unassisted, but this is lame even by a 7 year olds standards. A simpler, less graphic heavy & more engaging game, with more levels would be more effective than the current incarnation.

I am a school psychologist and have been using this app for a year or so. I have recently gotten the newest iPad mini and now the audio in the app no longer works, making it much less engaging. Some other suggestions: corrective feedback when a child chooses the incorrect answer. Also, many of the prompts are very wordy and I often need to read promts aloud and clarify. Lastly, to promote further engagement and learning opportunities from this app (as the Zones is a great program), please continue to expand the app with new levels, activities, etc.

I had either this game or one similar years ago. I purchased this to work with students who struggle with regulation. They were disappointed that they could basically just run in circles. Once they got to the “Stop, Opt, Go" I thought there would be more things for them to do. This game is similar to 2 Zones of Regulation lessons. I was hoping for more.

This app includes a character controlled by the user running around into different "zones". Once in the zone, the user reads a quiz like question around that zone such as, "Which feeling is not in the green zone, sad, frustrated, content." Kids need to be able to read the prompts. My issue is not so much with the reading requirement but with the app's lack of responsive teaching. If I got it wrong, how come? A reinforcer for readers, but only in the short term.
