I went to get my window tinted from The Tint Depot on 25MARCH09. I had been referred to The Tint Depot by another window tint shop because they did not have their tinter available at the moment. When I turned my car over to be tinted at The Tint Depot, I noticed that he did not bother to clean the windows before he had tinted it. Not thinking anything of this, I continued to watch him do the job to my car.

As I watched in disbelief, he continued to put on the window tint on my dirty car windows. (Now you tell me, if you go to the doctor's office, doesn't he disinfect his tools before he uses them on the patient in order to prevent infection? Wouldn't cleaning my windows to ensure that there is no dirt on them be the most logical thing to do in order to prevent dirty from getting underneath the film?).

After about 45 minutes, my car was ready. He assured me that bubbles within the first several days were normal. He said that if they remain under the windows, to return and he would honor his work. He reassured me that he had been in business for 7 years. (Making me to believe that there should not be any problems with the tint job).

Unfortunately, after waiting an entire week, the bubbles and dirt specs failed to disappear (as I had suspected). I went back to complain about the dirt specs and bubbles, however, he said that he would not redo my back window. He then put the blame on the car and said that the window was dirty from the tint job before and that he can not redo the window tint again. (How is this my fault that he failed to do his job and ensure that the surface was clean to begin with?)

After feeling cheated, I wanted to get a second opinion from another window tint shop down the street. I let the tint shop from down the street know my situation. I had them look at the window tint job and they pointed out these deficiencies:

1. The Tint Depot failed to clean the back window prior to installation. This is obvious due to the dirt specs and bubbles that were under the window tint.

2. There were two noticeable vertical creases in the back window.

3. There were relief cuts on the defroster lines. (If I find out that my defrosters do not work, I will need to get a new window.)

4. They used two different window tint shades (Blue and Brown).

The next day, I called The Tint Depot back and let them know about what the other shop said. The Tint Depot manager became irritated that I was asking for my money back and decided that he was not going to hear my complaint or honor his warranty for his shoddy work. He then proceeded to say, 'You're an idiot, sue me then! Bye!.' And hung up the phone on me. Is this good customer service when someone who provides you shoddy customer service fails to honor his promise for warranty? What ever happened to quality? Is this how we treat military veterans who have fought for their country?

Whoever said I went to the cheapest guy in town? Also, you quoted saying "so expensive"--whoever said anything about being "expensive" besides yourself? Besides, is that still an excuse for shoddy work? If he would have just cleaned the windows everything would have been good to go. Also, I was referred to him by another tint shop. I took the word of those guys because he said they provided quality work.

That is splendid! Maybe they finally figured out that keeping customers happy was better their for business...

I am happy about your experiences, however, my experience that I had with this sham artist over two years ago was not so great. And like I said over a year ago, "That is splendid! Maybe they finally figured out that keeping customers happy was better their for business..."

Now, I do understand that you said, "six year period." Maybe I came on a bad day? However, what he said to me and how he treated me was no way to treat a customer. Because of that, I will continue to not utilize their service and will not recommend them to my friends or family.

Mr. Metzger, I appreciate that you contacted me on here. I apologize that I have not responded sooner since I had changed my email and do not receive notifications. I would like to take you up on this. My car was less than 6 years old when I brought it to the shop. I will contact you via e-mail and get in more details.

Thank you.

FrustratedTintguy,

I am aware this is kind of like resurrecting the dead here (old post), but I see you have followed up on the posts. With that I'll assume you may at least see this and take it for face value. First, I am new as an employee to "the Tint Depot" as the full time tinter here. I also have been responsible for the last few weeks making several worthwhile changes to the company through customer interactions, marketing and advertising responsibilities, and revamping the company inside out. Thankfully I have only come across a couple of complaints in many review sites like this. To be honest, yours is by far the worst experience described yet that I have read, a couple others were misleading guerrilla marketing tactics by other shops in the area trying to tarnish the company's reputation... It happens when people don't know how to market their audience and they get desperate.

Second, I would like to have the opportunity to change that opinion in favor of a possible better review. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us here at The Tint Depot. Not to make an excuses but perhaps on the given day neither you or person you dealt with were having the best of days. For what ever his actions were and for what reasons known or unknown, as the new full time tinter here I would like to apologize on the shops behalf. It may be late but in my experiences late has always been better than never at all.

From your post it sounds like your car may have been a bit older and tinted before. I think we can both agree that without proper involvement of time and prepping this nullify's any quality of film out there possible with not exactly great results. I am not sure what kind of vehicle this was or even if you still own it at this point. However, should you find it possible to give us a chance to rectify the issue, I promise you your experience will be nothing shy of quality work and integrity as intended. I would ask that should you take us up on our offer that you contact me directly in whichever manner you feel comfortable with and we can discuss it further.

Kind regards,

Jamie Metzger

I completely disagree with the negative comments stated above. In my experience I have been more than pleased with the service, quality and pricing. To date, I have had four cars tinted over a six year period and Tint Depot has been a wonderful company to deal with each and every time. I am personally 100% satisfied. I would highly recommend Tint Depot to anyone looking to tint their cars or trucks. I will continue to use them in the future and will recommend them to my friends and family.

Your car was ready in 45 minutes? Sounds like you went to the cheapest guy in town. Also sounds like you got what you paid for.
Did you honestly expect the same results as the other shops you thought were "so expensive".

Sounds like a lesson learned to me.
