We hired The Sadar Group in Mentor Ohio to complete our 2010 tax returns for our company. They then offered to amend our 2009 taxes stating we would get back an additional $4000. The cost for them to get us our ammended return was $2000. We paid the $2000 and over the last 5 months, we have had a lot of problems with the IRS and RITA in regards to forms either not filled out correctly or not received. We contacted the Sadar Group on each instance and they promptly took care of the "issues" at hand. We then received a bill from the Sadar Group requesting an additional $217.50 for the time it took their accountant to fix the issues that the IRS and RITA were having with their original paperwork.

In otherwords, we had to pay for the Sadar Group's mistakes. I called the Sadar Group and spoke with Greg who claims our $2000 was ONLY for them to file the paperwork. And if any mistakes were made, we would be responsible to pay for those mistakes. To make matters worse, we have still only recieved $2000 of the $4000 from the ammended return.

I will never recommend anyone use the Sadar Group for tax preperation. If you do use them, be sure to get in writing un-front all the things they are going to do for the money you pay. Especially make sure they are going to follow through and complete a job without charging extra costs.

UPDATE: We sent a letter to the Sadar Group to notify them of us ending our business relationship and the reasons pertaining our departure. The sheer childish response from Joanne Sadar was something I never expected to see from a business owner. Not only does she lash out at us, but she manages to slam her competition at the same time.

Wow! OVERPRICED! Spoke with Joanne in November of 2017 and she seemed nice at first. Explained my situation to her and she said she would look at my previous years taxes. She did amend my 2016 taxes for my daughter because the prior tax individual missed some deductions. She said she did that at no charge. I decided to have her do my 2017 taxes because she helped my daughter get more money from her 2016 return and she also knew a good friend of mine. Greg actually did my taxes for 2017. I went to sign the paperwork and noticed a bill of $775. I said numerous times this was overpriced and said it was actually appalling. That was 3 times more than I have ever paid for taxes. I asked if she added my daughter's amended 2016 taxes into this fee. They said no. I also asked if they charge based on what I received back in taxes. They also said no.
Here is the breakdown of charges.
My tax return was $200
Both my kids taxes were $75
Capital gains and losses (1099 B) was $75.00
Child tax credit due diligence and form was $100
American opportunity credit due diligence and form was $100
City allocations and extra city returns due to move was $100
Compliance/mandates was $100 for a total of $775.00
They also cashed my check immediately! Before I got home the check was already cashed. It took a week before Joanne would call me back to discuss these absurd fees. When she did call back (after I stopped by to see her) she said that I should not have paid it and gone somewhere else. I told her I would write numerous negative reviews and she said she would get her attorney after me. When I laughed at that comment, she hung up on me. I also met 2 other CPAs and showed them her breakdown of prices. They both rolled their eyes and said that was very expensive. The one CPA quoted me a $350 price the other $250. My suggestion is to get the prices upfront or go somewhere else.
