On 8-4-22 I purchased a used 2020 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic 114 from Texas Harley-Davidson in the Dallas/Bedford area and financed it because we were from San Antonio, and I couldn't get the funds from my credit union in San Antonio since we were in Bedford. I told the finance manager that I would be paying the loan off with the 1st payment due. Unfortunately, I didn't read the loan contract line by line because I trusted the finance manager (Travis Jones), so I signed it. We made the 5-hour drive home with the new bike. The next day on 8-5-22, I went over the contract thoroughly and noticed they added without my knowledge a charge of $699 for theft protection. I called the dealership that day to dispute it and asked for a refund but was told "well you signed the contract". I told them I didn't need theft protection because I had full cover insurance. I called several times and talked with the finance department, my salesperson and the sales manager to resolve the added charge but was told they add this theft protection to every financed sale and reminded me that I signed the contract. On the contract, it states that the theft protection is "optional" but they automatically added it without my permission. I feel like this is deceptive trade practice and consumers need to know. I called several other Harley Dealerships in my area and this practice is not done. I've been told that a percentage of the $699 goes directly to the dealership and now I know why it is added. On 9-10-22 I traded in the Harley I bought from Texas Harley Davidson on a new Harley. I only had the Harley I bought from them for a little over a month. I just couldn't let this go so on 1-6-23, 1-7-23 and 1-10-23 I've called and left messages with Texas Harley Davidson finance person, Randy and never got a return call.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: Refund of the $699 they added to the contract without my permission.
