Southern Motion Manual reclining loveseat

We purchased three manual reclining loveseats, and there is a big gap between the seat cushion and the back cushion. I had service come out from the store and was told that all furniture has a gap. This is not true. We have purchased reclining furniture for 20+ years and this is the first set of furniture that has had a gap. The wood and springs are exposed and it is only a matter of time before my grandchildren get hurt. I wish I had read the furniture reviews before spending money on this furniture. I will never again purchase this furniture. I was also told that this furniture meets manufacturer specifications.

Desired outcome: Do better on your quality of furniture. How can exposed wood and springs be acceptable for furniture that cost thousands of dollars.

Southern Motion Leather reclining sofa

My husband and I have a sofa and love seat we purchased from you thru Tysons furniture, It is just us no monkeys, children or other parties sitting on tis furniture ,

I have had 4 service calls on this sofa handles twice, the seams letting go and now no cushion left on one side. How can you help me?

give me a check and remove furniture, come and repair and or replace sofa or replace both piecees. We are in our 70's and not abusing these pieces and really cannot afford to repair or replace these pieces at our age.

Southern Motion Sectional

3 year old sectional is sinking on one side, color is fading in sitting areas and the remote has been severed by dogs. Have been trying to get assistance from Southern Motion for months. I have sent 3 requests on the website and still no response. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with and I'm 67. All I want is contact information for a qualified repair person in Jacksonville Florida.

Desired outcome: I would like to at least have the remote on the recliner portion repaired.

Southern Motion Sectional

We purchased a reclining sectional sofa in late 2019 we started noticing the seat wasn’t holding up well and the foam on the leg area was bunching up and rolling. We filed a claim this year and after several times completing their online form and not receiving a reply I made several more attempts to call them. After leaving several messages I finally receive an email that explains their 5 year warranty didn’t cover instillation so a few months later we received a box of foam ! What are we to do with that ? It was our understanding a warranty for a couch would be coverage to fix the workmenship not just send you the pieces and wish us luck !

Desired outcome: We would like them to honor their warranty and replace and install the defective products they used at production and didn’t not install them properly

Southern Motion Recliner, powered

We bought a new recliner, made by Southern Motion Inc. Within the first 3 months problems started showing up. After contacting the business where it was purchased, it became evident that we would NOT get any help, despite all of the warranty so said to be available.

The recliner electronics were broken and the replacement was so different that there would be a huge hole. The leather separated within 3 months and the rest of the chair has broken down so that has a tilt to one side. The main user of the recliner is only 250 pounds, not excessive by any means.

What is obvious is that quality is at the least of the manufacturer concerns.

Being of a small community, we have made it our goal to dissuade buying Any product made by Southern Motion, or from the local retailer, that refused to back the warranty.

If anyone is interested in furniture, avoid ANYTHING manufactured by Southern Motion. China does better.

Desired outcome: Full refund of the $1000 paid for the chair and removal of the offending product.

Southern Motion Power wall Recliner

Purchased a power wall recliner with power headrest in July 2020 at NFM in Kansas City, the chair is reclined and will not go back to a sitting position. I called NFM as was told the warranty is only for one year. As much as this chair cost it should last longer than two years, but I will be out of the money as the warranty is only one year. Do not purchase from this company if they cannot stand behind the product for longer than one year.

Southern Motion Zero gravity recliner

Bought the recliner zero gravity immediately I noticed that the lumbar support doesn’t stay inflated. I called the furniture store and they scheduled a technician to inspect the chair. Waited a month and the tech said that the air bag had a factory defect. I waited two months for a replacement . On may 11 2022 I received another chair and it still the lumbar bag doesn’t stay inflated. I purchased the extended warranty from the store when I first purchase the chair. Please help ! What’s the problem ?

Southern Motion Southern Motion All Star Recliner

I bought a Southern Motion All Star Recliner in 2020 and it did not even last into 2021, even after 2 repairs. The frame was junk and would not hold even a substantial portion, let alone, the full weight capacity rating of the chair. The dealer who sold it to me was gracious enough to sell me another chair at cost, but it was still more money outlay and not the texture of the All Star.

Southern Motion would not even call me directly to discuss the chair. The must have been afraid of the junk they had sold. Based on this company's lack of customer service, diligence and ev3en common sense, I would strongly recommend that nobody do business with the "great" American company. They are a sham. They could care less about customers and they lie to the customer through their dealers. Take your hard earned money and buy the Beas by Best chair. It is much better built, the company stands behind it and it is less expensive to boot. Southern Motion is a disgrace to the American manufacturing sector and should be ashamed of themselves - period!

Desired outcome: Still waiting for the new chair that was promised if I destroyed the old one. Until that happens they are still liars and not worth their word.

Southern Motion recliner

Bought SPECIAL order Top Grain Leather Recliner in 2018. Quality is so bad! Should have read reviews. I'm sure Southern Motion is out of business by now. They fully replaced it once. Repair guy came out twice after that. Horrible piece of junk. Sold it for half price within the year. Best move I ever made -- selling it, that is.

Desired outcome: None -- sold it. No resolution needed. Just wanted to let people know how bad this company is.

Southern Motion Behr Power Recliner 970-21 Eastwood Colorado

Tried out the chair in the store at HOM furniture outlet. Seem like it might be a nice twist to just the recliner but have the bonus features of the heat massage felt comfortable in the store however doesn't open up all the way for reclining more like a clam. 30 days to receive our chair we went to pick it up ourselves put it in place we've only had the chair just under 28 days and it feels like the back foam inside the top of the middle of the back is wearing out or there was none to begin with feels like you're sitting with your back against the steel gurder, And after reading reviews on here from everybody else's problems decided no we're not going to wait for any more problems It's going to get returned regardless of a 20% restocking fee or what have you. Went looking for recliner cuz my old chair had a spot where it was hitting your lower back and starting to hurt This chair feels like I'm sitting on a steel gurder with the backrest of a steel gurder. Nope not going to happen for 2100 with tax included No way not going to happen going back back to looking for another chair.

Southern Motion Bought 2 Souther Motion Recliners with heat and air massage. Have had these chairs for 2 year and had the hand held remote go bad 3 times

Southern Motion Socozi reclining sofa

Remote controls burn out. Bought the sofa 1 year ago at Furniture Row in Colorado Springs. the first remote failed on day one and was replaced by Furniture Row. Now one year later another remote has burned out. online replacement from https://greatfurnituredeal.com/southern-motion-socozi-recliner-chair-replacement-remote is $95. After paying thousands for the sofa, these cheap remotes are frustrating and expensive.

Southern Motion Custom order

I custom ordered a dual recliner with the Consol first of September from BF Myers furniture in Goodlettsville Tennessee. I was told that I would have delivery in mid November that it was scheduled to be shipped from the warehouse on November 9 and weeks later I was told that it was shipped to the wrong warehouse and it has literally been sitting there for a month and I still do not have my couch. I've heard excuse after excuse after excuse and now BF Myers is saying they are leaving on the 22nd to go pick up the furniture in their truck and I will have it by Christmas. Now I have to tear my living room apart on Christmas Eve if it actually gets here then in the middle of Christmas and having to move my whole living room around. This has turned into a nightmare of epic proportion's. I had a Southern Motion dual reclining loveseat and I knew exactly what I wanted so I had to order it to get the leather and the color that I wanted. Not in my wildest dreams would I think that it would take this long to find and retrieve my couch that supposedly was sent to the wrong warehouse. Thank Now I have to tear my living room apart on Christmas Eve if it actually gets here then in the middle of Christmas and having to move my whole living room around. This has turned into a nightmare of epic proportion's. I had a Southern Motion dual reclining loveseat and I knew exactly what I wanted so I had to order it to get the leather and the color that I wanted. Southern Motion power reclining sectional and sofa

Paid a pretty penny for a three recliner leather sectional and a leather reclining sofa. Only had them for about 5 years... With only one person in the home. They started cracking and peeling all over the place and look horrible. Of course the extended warranty just ran out or so i'm told. I called two different leather repair companies only to be told that my furniture was not real leather but was bonded leather with a vinyl coating. While real leather can be restored the vinyl on my southern motion pieces can not be repaired. I spent good money to have good quality furniture that would last... Now i've got furniture that looks terrible and can't be repaired. This was an expensive lesson... Hope my experience can spare others from being taken by southermotion. I wish they would stand behind their product as it should last more then 5 years... Especially with little use.

Southern Motion Sofa and loveseat

To our shock the pieces arrived on 2/14/20 and we were shocked at the inferior poor workmanship, and noticeable defects.The furniture looked USED. When we sat on the furniture we could NOT believe how uncomfortable it felt ( nothing like the furniture in the store) but ALSO the squeaking noises in all of the seats !We called customer service the NEXT DAY /told them to pick up the items .They said NO .They said we had to go to the store where we bought it, which we did that same day .The manager there said they had NOTHING to do with this problems and had to CALL CUST.SERVICE! We kept telling the store manager it was his employees mistake to mislead / misinform us about how great Southern Motion furniture was .What a LIE!
The manager said we could have a"furniture expert" come to evaluate the MANY problems .He arrived on 2/24 and his report /findings COMPLETELY confirm .what our 25 pictures .There are numerous defects including poor quality/poor workmanship/ defective materials. SOUTHERN MOTION obviously FAILED to INSPECT the furniture before it left their factory .We asked value city for a FULL refund because clearly, these pieces of furniture were NOT as expected /advertised and ARE NOT up to industry standards .

We are extremely dissatisfied with the horrible furniture built by Southern Motion as well as the unprofessional manner in which we have been treated by Value City (we will be submitting a separate compliant ) who has made NO effort to help us, refuses to pick up the furniture, will NOT provide the appropriate contact info and has stated we "are stuck "with this furniture.

Here are notes from the furniture technician we hired and came to our home 2/24/20 - 
1. SEAT CUSHIONS - The FIRST issue is what I believe to be inferior quality foam in the seat cushions .The customer states this is NOT the same as the display in the store. Upon sitting I feeel the foam is quite hard and  uncomfortable.There is  NO "give" to the seats and I feel certian there is NO dacron wrapping around the foam.This results in the seats being flat and having  NO "crown". The foam is also causing  the seats to "squeak" when you sit, rise or move. This can be due to the fabric being IMPROPERLY measured, cut and stretched too tightly during the upholstery process.The constant noise is due to the friction between the foam/seat covers.In my business we always used cotton muslim wrapped around the foam before we attached the material . 
Also, the seat cushion covers have been improperly sewn and the alignment of the seams from left to right on each seat are noticeably OFF by several inches giving a  very sloppy appearance.When looking at the back of the sofa, the 3 sections do not line up indicating the frames are poorly constructed. There is a 3-4 " gap on the outside of the right hand facing piece ( between the seat and back section)  .
2.SEAT BACKS -  The 2 seat backs on the loveseat were improperly measured, cut, sewn and filled. Becasue they 've been cut too "short"  there are gaps between them .The space I measured at 3 1/2 -4 "  across and you can see  between them to the wall behind.
 Dacron is always used to provide comfort AND give shape to a cushion. It has to be inserted all the way out to each cushion corner .This is not the case here .The corners of several cushions are not filled with enough dacron fill so the fabric is loose and baggy.  The dacron filling  on the center back sofa cushion is so poorly done there is a  deep crease/wrinkle in the material .
3.THE ARMS - One of the major things we needed in a sofa was COMFORTABLE ARMS My wife will be having major surgery soon and the floor sample had well rounded, soft padded arms .NOT on this furniture !The "pillow top" arms are NOT uniform from front to back .AGAIN major inconsistencies in craftsmanship .Also they are sloping to one said - "sinking" due to the fabric being stretched to tightly and "pulling".There should be a foam "core" between the wood frame and material which is non existent and the arms do NOT have enough dacron padding/ filling . They are so shabby in appearance they resemble the arms on old, used, second hand flee market  furniture .

We are highly SHOCKED to have been written off by both Southern Motion and Crest Furniture /Value City Furniture NJ who, for the sake of a "SALE" TOTALLY  misrepresented this furniture as "high quality " .
We are extremely dissatisfied with the horrible furniture built  by Southern Motion as well as the unprofessional manner in which we have been treated by Value City (we will be submitting a separate compliant ) who has made NO effort to help us, refuses to pick up the furniture, will NOT provide the appropriate contact info  and has stated  we "are stuck "with this furniture.And, out $3000.00.The worst part is that my wife, who is permanently disabled / has many health issues and suffers with fibromyalgia and chronic pain, was scheduled for surgery later next month .She need comfortable furniture to convalesce after her major operation .Now she has to put it off until this nightmare is resolved .

Southern Motion 2 southern motion power recliners

We bought 2 Southern Motion power recliners for $1300.00 in September 2018 from Art Van. Didn't actually receive them until December--unacceptable delay from the company. And then when we did receive them, they were the most uncomfortable chairs we've ever had. I have a family of 4 and none of us could even sit in them for over a couple hours before our backs were killing us. Art Van wouldn't return them because they were just over the 30 day return window so I contacted Southern Motion and got a reply back from Mike Gregory on July 29, 2019. Not sure who he is but I'm assuming he is a nobody because he kept giving me these stupid comparisons and didn't offer any help at all in resolving my problem. Comparing our chairs to a pair of shoes and a refrigerator, saying every one fits differently. Quote from Mike Gregory, "I think it is similar to buying a pair of shoes. If one purchases the wrong style/size of shoe, they may not be comfortable, but possibly would be to a different person." He wasn't even hearing me--I have 4 people in my family and all of us hate them! What a bunch of bull crap. I've never purchased such uncomfortable chairs in my life and I've certainly never had a company just say, sorry, you're out of luck. You mean nothing to us and we've got your money, so bye bye. I told him I would be giving his company bad reviews everywhere I could. And still no response. How unprofessional! So now I'm out $1300.00 and can't use these pieces of junk! Want a full refund--you can have these terrible chairs back!

Southern Motion leather reclining sofa and recliner

We purchased these pieces that were delivered in early April of 2018, and have had the fabric repairman here for the 3rd time due to fabric splitting and separation. Why is this happening to this leather. Is it poor quality. Customer Service is not very helpful and repairs are very slow in getting done. Purchased from Old Brick Whse. in Albany, NY. Please Help! Much Appreciated

Southern Motion a couch and a loveseat, barely sit in the chair not sure how it's holding up

Have owned this furniture less than one year actually less them 10 months as we were delivered in January and didn't even sit on it and till after mid February due to being out of town to a death of my daughter. Neither here nor there the foam in the cushions have not held up feels like we're sitting on the boards and the Springs in the furniture not able to get into their to add any foam or support which should not be necessary and just less than a year. M getting the run around from the furniture store we purchased it from and we are not a year only net and feel like we have spent a huge amount of dollars for this furniture and now it sits like a rock!

Southern Motion sofa and recliner

We purchased a Southern Motion power sofa and power recliner from Stacy's Furniture delivered in February of 2017 with the 5-year Premium 1 Guardian protection plan. We have had electrical problems from the date of delivery with the recliner. Now we are having problems with the sofa and recliner with cushions, and possibly spring/frame problem in addition to the initial electrical problem. At the very beginning we were told by Stacy's sales representative to come in and chose another recliner.
Stacy's did will not honor their commitment to replace the chair in addition to the repairs to the cushion and the possible spring/frame problems on the left hand side of the sofa, even though they are covered by the Southern Motion limited lifetime warranty. It will cost us ~$250 to cover labor assuming the person doing the work receives the stuffing and cushions. We have given up on the electrical problem sense we no longer care about it.
We have been married for 37 years and have purchased sofas and chairs in 6 of the 7 homes we purchased. Never have we experienced such issues, not even with some of the large national brands we purchased.
I called and wrote to Southern Motion to see if they will correct the problems with the couch and chair. They never responded.
Before you consider a Southern Motion sofa, or purchasing anything at Stacy's, you should consider other suppliers that back up their product and their word.
