In July 2022, South African Relocations collected our belongings in Johannesburg to be shipped to Gothenburg, Sweden.
The container arrived in Rotterdam on the 4th October 2022. Their agents, World Freight Relocations BV, never provided us with any concrete feedback and only kept advising that the container was delayed due to port authorities, which continued for 2 months.

On the 15th October we received an invoice for 195 euros stating that we needed to pay urgently, this invoice for delivery to take place to the 5th floor of our building which they knew from the start. They advised that to avoid delays in delivery we needed to pay or they would not deliver, which we did and yet the container was apparently still not cleared.

We were then advised in December that the agents had received the container in their warehouse but we now need to pay 595 euros of demurrage costs before they can release our container. They are now threatening us with extra storage charges if we do not pay, however South African Relocations has this container on hold, so even if we do pay the demurrage charges we still are unable to receive our container.

We have not received any support from SA Relocations to assist with this matter or speak to their agents. We have no contract with their agents which is making it very difficult as we have no guarantees in place and SA Relocations is doing nothing about it.
The service from SA Relocations has been the worst I have ever experienced in this industry. They take no responsibility and are not willing to assist at all in resolving this matter.
It's been 6 months and the bills just keep piling with no plan on when we will receive our goods.

Desired outcome: To receive my container. And these charges to be dropped or compensated by SA Relocations.

We all need to get together because this is crazy. I sent 22 fully perfectly packed boxes from South Africa to the UK. I received an email saying boxes will arrive end January roughly. Very roughly! End of February I was told the boxes are being offloaded to the South African Relocations office and warehouse in the UK. On querying wjats happening many days later I received an email from Sedick saying he is In UK and their warehouse has been closed so my goods are going to another company to transport them to me. No name of the new company. I finally got the name through the Cape Town office which I now know is qhere Sedick works, there is no UK South African Relocations office and warehouse as I was led to believe! These staff members lie through their teeth constantly! I was promised the world by Stalin who was great until I started complaining. Finally on 19 March I received our boxes. 18 half packed boxes with tons of packaging paper in and things like plastic mugs wrapped in 3 or 4 layers of paper to take up space. All boxes were mixed goods, not room by room like I had packed. Why? I'll tell you why! BECAUSE MOST OF MY CLOTHING, LINEN AND KITCHEN ITEMS HAVE BEEN STOLEN! I am beyond livid and am not getting answers even after I sent them their truck drivers useless excuse for an inventory that I queries over and over because it leant itself to thieves and being an ex cop from SAP, I know how thieves work! Anyone I terested in connecting I'm SimoneHenderson on FB.

We are in the EXACT same situation with them at this moment! It infuriates me that this company is getting away with this! They hold your belongings ransom in another country with this "hold" they put on it, pending the settlement of new "out of the blue" invoices (ungrounded and unjustified). And upon questioning this, ... no reply, no assistance, no customer service! Probably stalling on purpose, as they know the longer they do not respond, the longer they have a hold on your belongings, the longer it has to be in storage in the destination country, the more storage fees will be incurred by you. I hope this company gets uprooted and shown to the world what they really are.

We having such a problem with them. Our container left South African April 2023 to be shipped to UAE Dubai it’s November 13 and we are still waiting. they sent our container to Vancouver Canada. Now we as a family have to pay all exerts costs on this side as they do not take responsibility. we were then promised by November 22 we will get the container. today we got a email again that we will only get it 20 December.

I also have been scammed by SA Relocations. I asked for a quote to move goods from South Africa to Scotland. I gave a precise list of goods with exact measurements, their representative , Mogamad Davids, International Moving Specialist, said I required 105 cu ft of space and quoted R18.929.04, this I paid on 17/04/23. My goods were picked up on 26/04/23. On 10/05/23, their Mogamad tried to contact me to say that I had added near double the amount of goods and this was why they wanted another R16.968.80, plus R8.406.62, exchange increase, a total of 25.375.42 bringing the total to move my goods to R44,000. This is a total lie, nothing was added to the amount of goods after I was told I required 105cu ft at the cost of R18,929. Mogamad admitted on an email that he misquoted the cu ft required, this was despite myself giving him exact measurements. Relocations want me to pay more than the goods are worth for a mistake their specialist made. I offered to contribute R8.000 towards their mistake, this was refused, I was told I had to pay in full otherwise my goods would be put in storage and I would be charged. My email asking for their managing directors name has been ignored,

Sorry to hear that, but from my experience with SA relocations, you've lost that money or your goods. I've been to their head office and it resembles an online scam office. The bottom line is, I've paid the school fees by dealing with them and hope these posts dissuade others from becoming yet another of their victims

They scammed me as well when I moved from Jo'burg to Edinburgh, They did it the same way as you describe, but for far more money in my case. But this is classic RSA business strategy - get a client, get his money, and then proceed to shaft him for all you can get on top of that. They are shakedown experts and actually - in legal terms - operate as racketeers. On top of that, they also stole a lot of my valuables. Worst of all, there is no point in trying to reason with them, they are total scammers and complaining would be a zero sum game. Beware, beware, beware of SA Relocations, they are crooks.

I am having a nightmare with this useless SA relocations company! After a long fight my goods arrived but broken. Insurance that they provided at a cost won't pay because they didn't tell me to fill in an additional form. Now they owed me a refund due to shorter distance delivery and paid back less than what they quoted to me for refund. It's just ineptitude bordering on criminal business practice. I'm on my way right now to their head office, not that that will help, but I'm just furious! Stay very FAR AWAY from this company

I went through the exact same. There is zero customer service from SA relocations, the delivery of my furniture took forever, the lack of communication was terrible, I was requested to pay additional fees over and above what I was quoted and charged for, they wouldnt release my furniture and placed a hold on my belongings even after I had paid the additional charges. This took another two weeks before it was released with zero apology or explanation from SA relocation. Eventually when I received it half my belongings were broken. I am now trying to claim from the insurance which I paid for and they have been dragging their feet for over two months. Infact they have stopped responding all together! Originally they said they could not find my customer profile from the overseas agent, this went on for 3 weeks. I contacted the overseas agent who gave it to me in 5 minutes and said sa relocations had not contacted them once to receive this. They now want the email chain between me and the sales agent of sa relocations where I sent my risk profile with the value of my goods. I have sent this through ( what relevance it holds I do not know). It’s all a game and in-fact a giant scam they are con artists!

I have tried contacting the CEO Kyle Tillman who just ignores me completely. Tony Hartman has washed his hands saying he is not in claims.

The whole experience from start to still not finished has been infuriating and down right disgusting! They should be SHUT DOWN!

We were relocating to New Zealand from Centurion and asked South African Relocations for a quote. Mzukho Menzelwa gave us 1st a quote based on 200cu ft. Us not knowing how big that is,queried with Mzukho how big this is,which he replied is 5.9mx2.3mx2.3m. Happy with the dimensions and within our budget of R25 000-R30 000,I replied we'll talk closer to our relocation time.

Simone Thysse contacted me in the meanwhile, saying that Mzukho doesn't work there anymore and that she is the new contact person and gave me a quote of nearly double the cost which Mzukho gave us. After which I replied that's way too expensive and that Mzukho gave us a cheaper quote based on 5.9mx2.3m.2.3m. After which she replied with a cheaper quote within our budget, we accepted and paid.

Our household stuff were collected and after a week South African Relocations phoned, saying our stuff added up to nearly double the volume we paid for. After much deliberations, the SA Relocations team concluded that Mzukho gave us the wrong dimensions after I requested it from him, Simone didn't think to double check the dimensions I communicated to her as per Mzukho's reply, and now our stuff added up to be over R18 000 more than our original quote. After numerous emails and phone calls that included the Managing Director Kyle Tiltman, they simply said we must pay the full price of R18 000 more. As we didn't have a home at that stage anymore to send back the overflow,we paid that extra R18 000.

Our bad experience of this is:

1. Even after we've explained to the manager Tony Hartmann that this was not our fault, that we are not the experts in dimensions and that 2 employees didn't give us the correct dimensions resulting in us overpacking, we had to pay extra R18 000 in order to get all our stuff to New Zealand

2. Not once, even after many phone calls and emails, did South African Relocations apologize or take any responsibility for their employees errors resulting in us overpaying

3. Nowhere did they try to meet us halfway, like saying they'll pay a portion of the exceeded amount for their fault ,even after we suggested such a negotiation

4. I would think that if a container is sent to collect your stuff, they'd send one just big enough for your quote dimensions to ensure you don't overpack bigger than your quote dimensions allowed. But they packed our stuff in a big movable truck and nowhere did calculations on where we are with allowed dimensions. They could have avoided a lot of confusion and us paying extra by just packing to size

5. Tony even blamed us,saying if we had calculated the dimensions on the quote we would have seen that the quote was wrong. I don't go to a furniture store with my own measuring tape and measure what I want, I ask the employees to help me for my specifications as they know best. Or I don't measure tiles for my needs,I rely on the manufacturer's specifications to suit my building needs. Thus I relied on Mzukho's expertise to help us. Who am I to question his replies on my dimension queries to him?

Never,EVER use SA Relocations!

February 2023

I used Jet Pets, South African Relocations in-house pet moving company. Less than 24 hours before my dogs were due to depart Cape Town, for Riga in Latvia, I was sent an additional invoice and told that if I did not make payment within two hours, my dogs would not be flown on the booked flights.

When I queried the additional invoice, I was told that the actual weights of my dogs and their crates had been miscalculated and that the amended weight was now being invoiced. When I queried the weight difference, I was told that the crates could not be stacked close together and that space had to be left for the crate handles, hence the weight difference. This was absolute nonsense.

1. The original invoice was for a combined weight of 176kg.

2. The additional invoice was for the amended combined weight of 198.5kg.

3. When my dogs arrived in Latvia, the official airline documentation was attached to their crates and the total combined weight was 135kg.

I was overcharged by 63.5kg.

I am not going to leave this as it seems that many of us have fallen victim to the tactics used by both South African Relocations and Jet Pets with additional invoices sent once arrangements have been finalised.

Kindly forward your experience to stace@niche-emporium.co.za. I will be compiling a list of complaints in the hope that a 3rd party is willing to fully investigate this matter.

Thanks!

I went through the same story. I received a quote and in the end had to pay 50% more than that. The first employee bragged that he’d been working for 20 years and that he was able to judge the container size - not even walking through all rooms of my house. As the packers walked in they told me straight away that I would need a bigger container. So I believe this is how they operate. Many boxes went missing and plenty breakages. I did not get the curtesy of an apology and I’m totally disgusted by their work ethics.

I agree with a class action. I'm opening a criminal case for theft after half my goods are missing and now claims are asking for precise items on the I Bentley THAT THEY DID ON COLLECTION OF MY GOODS. Iqueried this pathetic vague inventory over and over because as an ex cop I know exactly how these people steal but I got no answers. My own I ventiey of what went into storage at the storage company apparently isn't admissible. I'm beyond furious! All my kitchen goods my now deceased father fave me from his childhood from England all gone! My clothing, jackets and boots, from Europe all gone. Ones arrived all repacked and not in room by room order like I did it. Now they want to take R5000 excess off a claim and say I can't add items that are missing. Scammers and thieves. My curtains had even just been rolled up and thrown in the boxes. Each plastic mug wrapped in 4 pieces of packaging paper to use space. I had 22 boxes, received 18 and after I put all the packaging paper into boxes by itself it took up 4 boxes so that leaves 8 of mine missing! Thieving company should be criminally charged and closed down. Let do it! Contact me on fb Simone Henderson
