If anyone knew how this organization treats their staff and animals behind scenes, they might rate differently. This company pays unbelievably low wages (a choice of $100 or $500 per month) for a minimum of 12-16 hours per day hard labor with no care or concern for safety of staff 6 days a week all summer season. They do pay room and board, but with the cramped bunkhouse every staffmember must share and the sometimes non existent meal breaks it is hardly worth it. The end of summer bonus would also be of benefit if the majority of staff was able to make it through the grueling summer mentally and physically... But many are injured, or just mentally unable to cope with the exhausting work and classically poor management that is hired (you should see what they pay (or rather don't) pay management and you would understand why most are unqualified and mentally exhausted to the point of failure and mismanagment). Let alone the way that this company treats animals. Unwilling to pay for vet bills except in extreme circumstances, many animals suffer and are left to be tended by grossly inexperienced staff. Many who are hired have never even dealt with horses before. I personally have been the helpless witness to inexperienced people brutally shooting injured horses both on and off the ymca property, the inexpert medical care that has caused animals to suffer more than necessary, grossly inexperienced staff guiding rides that result in both the injury or guests, and the injury and/or death of horses, and petting zoo animals being physically abused causing injury due to anger. This is but a tip of the iceberg, and it sickens me that this community and the ymca tolerates this behavior and allows it to continue. I hope someone with more power than I will someday put a stop to it.

I came here with my 15 years old son. After waiting three hours for our horse we finally got our turn to ride. After 10 minutes into the trail, the horse jerked and threw my son off. He fell down and scraped his knee and elbow. The tour guide said this was a very rare incident so we continued. Then another ten minutes into the trail, my horse threw me off and I banged my head on a rock and I bled all over my face. We canceled the ride immediately and came right back to the ranch. I wanted a refund but the girl that worked there called her Aunt Alysa. Aunt Alysa will not refund me because of her stupid no refund policy. We will never come back to this place again. Their horses are not trained and very unsafe to ride on. They ripped us off and stole our money.

BEWARE. Dishonest business and ownership. Booked a 2 hour ride - which was cut 1 HOUR short with zero explanation from the staff or owner. The owner (who lives in AZ keep in mind) claimed the ride was completed on time based on his PHONE conversation with his dishonest staff. This of course was a complete lie and his attempt to avoid paying the riders any form of credit or refund for the shorter ride. If a customer is paying for a service - perform the service in full, professionally, and safely. Our wrangler Justin was extremely unprofessional providing limited direction to the riders and not assisting riders when they felt unsafe or uncomfortable while handling the horses. I would avoid this place at all costs and seek out alternative services in the area.
