Singapore General Hospital Pharmacy team terribly bad when medicines hav side effects

Beware of SGH pharmacy team when they only want to hear good things. The moment my ahma feedback about side effects on the new med, , they started to ignore her until she almost landed in emergency on her gout and joints infection and swollen issues. They also started to ignore her asking on missing medicine delivery. Being the only caregiver to my ahma, I know how difficult to deal with SGH pharmacy and some docs when many times they are in denial and remain evasive. How could SGH mgmt allow pharmacy and docs to provide consultation to chronic patients when pharmacy not receptive to feedback? SGH service really getting worst when recent Covid-19 make our leaders, ministers worship them as heroes, like god..can't deny some are front line heroes but also some r blacksheep, especially those senior pharmacist from SGH.

IMO pharmacist should remain in their own forte and not step out to provide consult. Some resource tight hospital do this but ended up many chronic patients became fatal victims when wronged info was given when too often, the main doc delegated their tasks to appointed pharmacist took over. so wat when pharmacist is doctorate, their course of studies and practical exp are simply not enough for them to provide correct consult to patients. For the record, i am a trained qualified GP once a doc for almost a decade in Canada

Pharmacist r not doctor. Even when they give consult, u c they sing different tunes w doc sometimes..but true colors out when their med gave problems like serious side effects from those blood test for eg..I also had bad exp with a senior pharmacist at SGH, very bad response sometimes don't even bother to acknowledge my wife chronic issues. The moment she complained about side effects w her dosage, this evasive senior pharmacist will hide like spider, only appear when things r resolved by patients themselves. She still dare to declare to my spouse she can be point of contact. SGH also 1 kind, doc and pharmacist cannot click, one push to another for consult, until patient gave out treatment. Terribly unprofessional, hopeless

Singapore General Hospital Pharmacy

Hi. I want to comment on the waiting time at the pharmacy close to DMC in SGH. I am here with my mom who is on the wheelchair and have been waiting for her prescriptions for more than 1 hour 30 minutes. I understand that I can request for delivery but her medicine will only last another 2 days which does not give me much option other than wait. The wait time stated in the screen is 75 min max but we have waited for more than 90 minutes. Honestly speaking, my mom is already so tired from sitting on her wheelchair. I hope something can be done about this.

RE: Service Provided

To whom it may concern,

My dad, Mohamed Yassin Bin Atan on NRIC no S1181229E went to SGH A&E on 2nd July 2021 at 1456hrs as he complained of pain on the right leg and causing him unable to walk.

He was consulted by Doctor Abhishek Subodh Mhaisalkar. My dad was released while suffering from excruciating pain and without proper or specific diagnostic from the said doctor.
The next day I visited my dad at home as he said that he is still in excruciating pain and also
I found out that he was scheduled for an appointment to another department that is on 31st August 2021 at 1030hrs to find out the cause of the pain which is 2 months away. I called the A&E to find out with regards to the appointment and spoke to Miss Nazimah as the medication given was not enough to last for 2 months till the said date. She simply said if my dad is still in pain, just bring him back to the A&E or go to any nearest polyclinic to get more medication.

Both my parents are no longer working. I am working as a freelancer. "How are they going to pay for their medical if the can't use their medisave to settle the bills."
This is really absurd as I can't simply bring my dad to A&E, get the doctor consultation, some medication and the doctor said he could go back home.

We even ask for the doctor to call us back but up to date there is any call from the doctor.
On 10th July 2021 at 1826hrs I call the A&E hotline again but the nurse simply told me to bring my dad to A&E. I even requested to talk to Dr Abhishek but was informed that he was off duty and told me that they will get the doctor to call me up.

Desired outcome: Rescheduled appointment immediately

I can't agree more SGH sure go hell like some forerunners said. I sympathize families going such poor services and inconsideration from the so called health care professionals? our ex-neighbor grand dad passed away due to negligence from docs and nurses , he already suffered from severe chronic heart and gastro issues . A&E docs suck and make him travel back repeated trips when inside hospital, they ignored his complaints about pains. Discharged him and ask him come back when out of breath or bleeding etc until one day he died out of exhaustion and poor exp at SGH..now SGH has excuses to tell public stop complaining about poor service or negligence cause our Spore priority is Covid, all staff very busy...yeh we understand and will support such motive as one country but negligence and bad attitudes from A&E staff , doctors and nurses can be easily differentiate and tell..Minister Ong is really sleeping on his duties when many times he simply refer public write to MOH QSM and after months waiting, an irresponsible guy Jeffrey email said we look into it, thanks for feedback. When complained to MOH, this smart alec Jeffrey replied telling our neighbor the definition of the chronic illness and each department roles. Who care about definition when issues raised were totally side step and ignored. Give up!

Singapore General Hospital Denied from visiting my fiancee

Dear sir/mdm...i really need your kind help regarding my fiancee(Farahdiana bte Ahmad sidi) stay at sgh ward 46A. Till the day she way admitted, im the one that stay beside her and our only mistake we made is she left her hp with me and when admitted, she can't remember my phone no and she give the hospital her god sister no instead. Then the next day and the following day i get to visit her and after the third day i was told that she been transfer to ward 46A and then i try to visit her but to my dismay, i was not allowed to visit her cos im not the sole custody, and her sole custody is her god sister that was not related to her. They told me that i was not allowed to visit my fiancee because it was an instruction given by her god sister and she was also not given access to her mobile phone. I did try to talk to the hospital staff and was told that i need to gain approval from her god sister and her god sister got grudges against us and therefore she did not want to reply my message and just ignore my request for me to visit my fiancee. My fiancee did inform the hospital staff to change custody from her god sister to me but they wouldn't change it and keep saying that her god sister must give consent first. For your info, it been 1 week plus till now she been admitted. And im worried if she discharge and she can't
contact me cos she been staying together at my place. She have the right to determine who is to visit her right Please help us to solve our problems, thk u..appreciate it so much

Singapore General Hospital Ward42 nurse update

My mum went for procedure since 3+.pm Usually procedure take abt 2hrs.
I reach ward at 630pm and check with nurse her condition. Their feedback is just not out, they won't know. Don't even bother to help check with the OR for update.
The nurse apparently is not helpful, esp to us who is anxious on the result of the procedure.

Desired outcome: Don't dare to ask for more. We are here to seek help and not anger

Singapore General Hospital Pharmacy

On 7 June 2020 my mother, Mrs Dorothy Krishnasamy, S0145836A, had come to the Diabetic Pharmacy after her appointment to collect her medications. There, she was clearly told and given 3 months supply of medications and that the next 3 months, which is due on 7 September 2020, will be couriered promptly. Please note that there were no contact numbers given by your staff but only reassurance of prompt services on receiving the medications. However, this was not kept up to. Today, after numerous calls and attempts and being pushed around from people to people, my sister was attended to someone who told her that it's my mother's responsibility to follow up on her medications and that the medications can only be sent to her on next Mon, 14 Sept 2020! With no contact numbers given and with promises given by your staff, what do you expect a 75 year old person to do? Where are your mission and vision values in these? Today is the 10 September 2020. She will only get her medications on 14 September 2020! 1 week of delay of medications for life threatening conditions! My simple question to you is: During this one week, if my mother falls severely ill or dies as a result of not taking her medications as she has no supply, can I hold SGH responsible of it? Because of this, my sister has put aside her work for tomorrow and accompany my mother via private transport as she is old and prone to falls to come to SGH to collect her way due medications which SGH is in total fault of. Not only is time wasted but also money is wasted for transport and a life is put on stake for your delay and negligence! I just lost my father this year and will for sure go all the way out to sue your hospital if anything does happen to my only living parent! She is old, sickly and does not deserve this! Do not blame this on Covid as Covid did not happen recently for immediate measures to sprout out! Covid has been ongoing for many months and by now an upcoming hospital like yours should be extremely efficient in handling such cases. A simple courier for follow up on medication is not done but rather blame shifting and further delays! I'm absolutely disgusted and ashamed of your hospital and it's services. Do you expect me to fly down from overseas to handle this situation? Accept the errors and work on it for improvement! I do expect a favourable reply soonest! I will also be writing about your hospital in future reviews to let other know how lightly one's life is taken by a renowned hospital! In this way, members of the public will be well aware of how 'well' treatment and services are provided by your hospital. Contact me via email as I am located overseas or call me at +[protected]! I will escalate this matter to any higher authorities if there is a need to. Thank you.

Singapore General Hospital Unreliable information

I been escalated to isolation room due to cough but 2 times swab test done and result was negative. Doctor said can be arrange to discharge and details sent to so called Discharge Team. Waited since morning until night more than 10 hours still no news yet and keep telling me waiting for approval from MOH. 10 hours = 600 minutes more than 1 day office job but still cannot complete the discharge process from MOH. Called to MOH urgent hotline telling me another story of need to be stay? Whose information is correct?

One discharge process took one whole day also cannot complete? Really terrible service.

Singapore General Hospital Delayed treatment for my mother

Dear Sir,

My mother, Mdm Wong Kum Mui (IC No : S1045338/J) had visited SGH in March 2109 to take her hearing test and was told that the she would be informed on the availability of the hearing aid.

Almost half a year had passed since March 2019, there was no update at all on the status of the hearing aid for my mother.

I had called SGH 2 weeks ago and the customer service officer had made an appointment for my mother to see the doctor at Clinic A on 14 October 2019 4.30 pm.

While I appreciate the arrangement, my mother has to wait for another one and a half month. Since she has taken the hearing test in March 2019, what is the reason that there is no hearing aid arranged for her and she has to wait for nearly half a year with no news about her hearing aid ?

I will appreciate it if SGH can give priority to my mother for an appointment earliest possible instead of waiting till 14 October. My mother is already 83 years old. I am concerned that the undue delay will aggravate her hearing condition.

I can be contacted at [protected] or email : [protected]@singnet.com.sg.

Looking forward to hear from SGH soonest.

Best Regards
Lim Seow Leng

Singapore General Hospital Blk 4, ward 42 room 5 (dated 5th april 2019 ard 515pm)

I would like to make a complaint about this nurse in charge by the name of Gladys Chong Hui Wen who cant help or get help for my brother who need assist for passing motion. My sister just request them to help to lift my sick brother up to put in the bedpan. She just say that the hospital is down with male nurse and female nurse cannot do it. Giving my sister a kind of attitude. She also mention that the female nurses complainted that they have back pain with helping patients to pass motion. Please get the respective person to look into this matter.

I would like to know whether is this the way SGH schedule and handle their manpower just like that.

He is in a renal ward which I believe male or female nurses should be well trained to handle this kind of patients. This is what the ward 47 told us. The past 1 week some of the male and female nurses are good they are well trained and tactful only today those nurses under Gladys Chong Hui Wen just cant make it. As a nurse in charge of the station, cant even trained the junior how can she leads a team.

So right now my brother is having phobia in passing motion due to this. He got to wait for his own family members to help him with that is this what a patient should be treated ? The doctor and social worker told us they will give special care and attention to my brother during this period of times but looked what happen today. Disappointment is the word for it.

Fyi, my brother who is a dialysis patient for 18 years was admitted to Singapore General Hospital due to cant really move his body and legs and recently just stopped his dialysis.

Hope the management can look into this.

Best regards,
Kate

Singapore General Hospital Terrible service provided

-Doctors at the specialist outpatient clinic do not take time to explain to you the medical terms or conditions. -Waiting time is unacceptably long, I was waiting for more than 80 minutes outside the clinic located at the DMC/Diabetes Centre, was there any explanation provided to me by the Doctor on why he/she took 40 minutes per patient? Absolutely No! -Level of compassion provided by Doctors is extremely low, they lack empathy during their service interactions with patients.
