My girlfriend and I were previously employees at Paces at the Estates while we were living there. During our time there a large 70"blind fell on us in the bedroom causing minor bruising and scratches. As a maintenance technician at the property I was aware of this issue with these large blind sets so we disposed of the old set and simply used our curtains to cover the window for the remainder of our lease. As a maintenance technician when I encounter the issue I simply install two 35" blinds when the unit is turned to fix the issue. This is a known issue by property management and the maintenance crew. Therefore, residents are not charged when these blinds need to be replaced. After moving out we received a $100 bill in the mail for the blind set which was not sent out until July 13th. It claimed that the debt owed would be sent to collections in just a few days. We have contacted property management as well as the regional manager and they refuse to remove the erroneous charge. They claim that the damage should have been on the move in inspection sheet, however, the blind fell on us while we were living there. We feel as if we are being discriminated against as residents simply for leaving a hostile work environment.

Desired outcome: The charges should not stand.
