You have to be a total idiot to spend $250.00 on any type of a "so-called" PC repair software without getting information regarding how well it works
For half that amount you could have had your local PC shop install a better program, then run it through to straighten things out, and it would be ready to use it again & again in the future
I purchased tech utilities from seven servos for about $40. It was advertised as "The only PC fix tool you'll ever need."
When I ran the program it claimed to have identified and fixed about 1, 000 "issues". Then it said I should click "next" to complete the fix by running a malware scan.
When I clicked "next" it automatically connected me to a tech support chat, who quickly connected me to another tech support person who promised to fix my issue. I permitted the tech support person to share my screen and this person spent a long time with me on the line (about 1/2 hour) looking busy. Then, the person recommended I buy some other tools and service to optimize my computer.
Immediately, the so-called technician turned into a salesperson trying to sell me additional stuff. It would cost me $200 to get what I needed to fix the problem. When I declined, I was told I could buy a discount version for $99 that would "guaranteed 100%" fix my problem. When I again declined, I was told to wait, and then informed that a supervisor "authorized" the "technician" to refund the $40 I already spent if I bought the $99 product.
The whole thing smells very much like a scam. What can be done to stop this?
