Trek Bicycle reviews and complaints

I purchased a Trek model 7100 bicycle in July 2010. Except for being poorly assembled, all screws were loose, the bike performed well. Overe the winter the bike was stored in a dry shed. This Spring the paint from the main pedal gear has peeled and rusted, all supposedly chrome parts for the brake system are badly rusted. Trek was notified and has not responded. The bike was taken to a Trek authorized shop and the mechnaic stated Trek will not warranty these parts since they are OEM and Trek does not warranty OEM. The warranty given with the bike clearly states one year on all parts. So much for this manufacturer. Clearly if you are looking for a bike, there are many other excellent choices. Try them, Trek gets a thumbs down for customer service. :(

I have Rolf wheels made by Trek. The freehub on the back wheel needed replacement, so I called Trek Parts and asked them if they had a replacement. The Trek parts department person checked and said, "Yes", they had them in stock. I asked to buy one, but was told that I couldn't by directly from Trek, I had to use my local bike store.

I took my wheel to a Trek bike store and asked them to order the part and install it. They keep trying to obtain the part, which I knew was in stock, but couldn't get it. Finally six months later, they called to say that Trek had stopped supplying the part.

I was about to buy another Trek bike! Not now and never again.
